  • 01:07 5 RINGY DINGY, A RECORD!

  • Took Chastity and they saw one of the seven dwarfs. That explains s lot.

  • The uber-uber-UBER-fucking-nosy present-day so-called "customer service representatives" at AT&T and T-Mobile wireless sound JUST LIKE Earnestine and are even NOSIER,I swear!

  • This clip first aired on "The Cher Show," on March 16, 1975. That explains the references to Henry Kissinger (who at the time was shuttling back and forth between Washington and Cairo, Damascus, Amman, and Jerusalem to advance the peace process) and phone tapping (which was practiced widely by the Nixon Administration in the early 70s before the Watergate scandal resulted in new curbs on the practice.

  • Spokanegirl2011: True. But I have to give them credit for admitting they were wrong without being nasty. I bet you do, too! Such nonsensical random meanness on these boards sometimes that I am always grateful for nice people.

  • AntaresinScorpius: If you're being snarky, then my reply would be "I live in the reality-based universe". If you actually think they are dead, try Wikipedia or IMDb for their dates. Either way, I live in the reality-based universe, thanks for asking.

  • @KittyinVA: If AntaresinScorpius just looked up on Wikipedia (like you said) then this person wouldn't be making such ridiculous comments to think that Cher and Lily Tomlin are dead when clearly both of them are still living and doing really well with their lives.

  • This was from Cher's 1976 or so variety show...before botox and a rubber face ruined her beauty!

  • Great classic tv

  • AntaresinScorpius - They are both alive. What the hell is your post about?!!! Lily and Cher are both active actresses. Weird post.

  • @KittyinVA hmm ok i stand corrected i withdraw the comments.

  • @AntaresInScorpius They're not dead! They are still both alive!

  • Comment removed

  • @AntaresInScorpius you're an idiot if you think they are both dead. Cher is still alive and well and still touring. As for Lily Tomlin , she's still in the acting business. They're both still alive.

  • @spokanegirl2011 comments deleted

  • How ironic and hysterical she's talking about her *daughter" lol

  • if i egt 20 thumbs up me nd my friend claire will do this skit for the skool talent show she will be the ringie dingie girl and ill be cher

  • wow girls, high from me

CHAz makes henry kissinger look like a What dahlink?

sorry, you dial Zsa Zsa's last leg

  • So funny! Love this, shows were so much better back then!

  • I think this clip is actually from the Sonny and Cher show. I love Lily Tomlin's skits and Cher plays a great 'straight-man'.

  • @knorthup4 I actually think this clip is from Cher's short-lived solo variety show. I think with the mention of Cher going with rock band members in the skit this was during the time when she and Greg Allman were going with each other after the initial break-up she had with Sonny.

  • Being born in the 90s I missed out on so much but the ringy dingy is just weird...

    Cher rocks though

  • "Swinging and drinking in the afternoon"

  • "Did Mr. Green Jeans "come" between you?" Is that a loaded question or what?

  • LOL

  • "Judging by the media, you're the operator sweetie" haha xDDD

  • Amazing how that normal life worked out for Cher and "Chaz."

  • Cher makes a mistake and speaks to Lily as "Ms. Tomlin". Unless the character's last name is the same as the actual actor. After 2:48

  • @amaraca The characters last name is the same as Lily's.

  • @amaraca - at 1:23 'Ernestine' says 'This is Ernestine Tomlin'....

  • C THIS IS THE CHER IM USE TO SHE LOOKS SUPER SEXY ON HERE I MEAN SHE LOOKED GOOD BACK THEN TOO BUT THIS IS THE FACE IM USE TO I LUV CHER TO DEATH I LUV HER SO MUCH I KEEP SINGING WALKIN IN MEMPHIS AND IM ONLY 13

  • The tabliods were rife with Cher back then.

  • Well, Know-It-All, Dilettante - Why do you not learn to spell properly, if you are such an 'expert'!!!!

  • For this baby boomer, Tomlin always resided in the highest echelon of comic gods, an exclusive club with only two other members. With George Carlin and Richard Pryor now gone, Lily is its last living deity.

  • what the hell is up with that retarded tweety bird shit?

  • 5 RINGY DINGY PICK UP!! hahaha

  • HIGH LADIES HAPPY 2010

  • Dear Albuquerque 2010... plug it in amped one woman, pampllet, thank you for your ePwittinous> bib newhard malicious wisconsin, ha. happy tappy 2010 pick up the oil? Is theis BP OIL?

  • yeah, cher really is pretty in this!

  • Is this the party to who i am speaking?

  • Lilly Thomlin, on the great comediannes of the 20th century!

  • Ah the good old days when we only had to deal with one company's telephone terrorists. Can you imagine Ernestine being a sex-phone operator now? It would only be appropriate. After all, Ernestine was the first to screw everybody on the phone. SNORT!

  • five ringydingy! pick up the phone already!!!!! hahahahahhahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!! hilarious!

  • Oh my god, Cher is unbelievable beautiful!!!

  • I know.... I don't think she even needed the nosejob that she ended up getting later on in the late 70s. She was still beautiful back then without it.

  • @OnlytrueDiva This is sonny's fake attornet on the onternet. Nver take advice from us in 2010, for the time machine can't be stopped now. Thanks for your losing views. Take care when the world ends. See you in 2013

  • @ePhilosopher9 I will, but the world's end is in 2012 ;-)

  • @OnlytrueDiva alot better than nowdays

  • Comment removed

  • @AntaresInScorpius OMG no they are not dead! You're an idiot to think that they are dead cause they are not!

  • One Ringydingy

    two ringydingy

  • Wow, telephones have come SO FAR haven't they??

  • Hathaway!

  • That lil tomlin woman sounds exactly like sylvia fine, the mother of The Nanny xD Is this the same actress when she was young? =P

  • No -- Renee Taylor played Sylvia. I'm sure Lily and Renee have met, however.

  • Comment removed

  • Exactly how many impersonation did Lily Tomlin do? Tommy Voleur, Ernestine, etc. I always lost count. And I am now looking at her Tommy impersonation serenading to Liz Taylor and Michael Jackson. When I was that performance made....it could have been mid-90s. Not talking about the Cher one...just type Michael Jackson and Lily Tomlin....you'll see what I mean.

  • Since there's a reference to Watergate, this clip appears to be 1973 or soon afterwards. After her TV show ended with Sonny in '74, Cher had a short lived program in '75...but I don't think this clip would be that late since the wire tapping bit was old news by then.

  • This is from 1975 on the Cher show. Not from 1973.

  • L-O-L

    one ringy dingy...

  • Cher was BE-AU-TI-FUL!

  • IS beautiful!

  • In a plastic sort of way, yes. I mean back then before she had any work done, she was naturally beautiful. No one can say that about her now lol.

  • hahaha that was so funny! i love both of them :)

  • I want to watch this movie! where online can I watch it.? (Tell me URL) Can someone post it on youtube please the full movie??!!

  • This is from laugh-in.

  • No, it's from Cher's variety show. Sonny and Cher broke up after Laugh-In ended.

  • 1 ringy dingy lol *snort*

Cher is a true diva...man look at that babe

  • this was the joke in my dads class in the 70s some girl was acting like th lady cause they where working the switch bords ha ha they had it as a joke for a while ha ha

  • Isn't this from Cher's variety show, not Laugh-In?

  • Yup. It it Cher's show.

  • Lilly and Cher, two of the greatest women around!!!!!

  • se ve divertido, pero no sé mucho inglés u.u

así que no sé muy bien qué decían xD

  • hahahaha :D

  • ROFL!!!!

  • Kim Kardashian wishes that she were Cher Sarkisyan. Except Kim is probably making more money from her callipygousness.

  • I enjoy the humor more now than I did in the '60s. I guess I was to young to appreciate it back then.

  • Oh good grief

  • Too bad Cher doesn't look like this anymore..she now has a rubber face.

  • You don't have those types, I mean.

  • I finally got to see Lily...For President? at the Television and Radio Museum on W. 52nd St. It is really good and should be on the must have Lily Tomlin specials. Lily Tomlin is a genius. How does she do it? I remembered when it was first aired on CBS. This woman's humor is so subtle and yet so unique. Lily Tomlin is just one great comedian. You don't those types anymore.

  • I think there are more with subtle and solid senses of humor. Hollywuss preferring the most base and crude "material" because audiences more readily flock to it.

  • I love Lily tomlin's characters and used 2 be an operator 4 bell this is hilarious stuff. but not typical

  • "DON'T YOU CALL ME HONEY!!!!" Hilarious!

  • ahahah cher stuffs up and says "Miss Tomlin"

    LOL

    funny though :P

  • Lily introduces herself as Ernestine Tomlin in the beginning of the call.

  • Does anybody have Lily's 1982 special(Lily For President?), which had guest stars like Scott Baio, Sally Field, etc...? If so, please post it.

  • Can anybody upload any scenes from The Incredible Shrinking Woman, a great comedy from the 80's with L. Tomlin?

  • I recently found this film in our "free movie archives" that are included in our digital cable package. I was so surprised since I had looked for it on vhs/dvd and had had no luck finding it.

  • I recall a clip from Lily's early 70s show where she's promoting a car wash or detergent in a car wash or something - bloody hilarious; I wish it'd all get released on DVD proper...

  • Lily's great. Do you have the 1982 special she did called "Lily For President?"...just wondering.

  • XD Mister Green Jeans!!! LOL!

  • tbarkeratl - so what is funny? Kenny getting killed every weel, Peter Griffin shoving his whatsit in things like pencil sharpeners, ceiling fans, etc... fart jokes (some people, conditioned for modern day garbage, re-watch old movies and EXPECT fart jokes and are DISAPPOINTED when nobody makes the noise... sad)

As a dilettante social historian, there's a LOT I've observed. And then get ragged when I point things out... and the same people still whine over the breakdown of society.

  • People still think it's funny. I laughed.

  • I remember Lily Tomlin going undercover as some kind of German chick, trying to find out whether a butcher shop was bleaching its chicken. She asks the butcher, "Tell me, now, you weren't thinking of giving that chicken a little bleach jacuzzi, were you?" She's hilarious.

  • Cher and Lily where / are great!!

  • Great upload...thanks! Post more please!

  • Agreed Arkady63, she's still brilliant today. Check her out live if you ever get the chance. BTW, this skit is actually from the Cher Show, 1975.

  • Yes! Lilly and Cher, two of the greatest women around!!!!!

  • So cool! Ernestime was always the funniest!

  • Lilly Tomlin was briliant then and brilliant now. This is one of the greatest characters that she created. Cher, in this skit, is hot beyond stunning. Thanks for the posting.

  • wow, great skit

  • Man, if anybody did this today as a comedy skit - e.g. Ernestine talkin' to Britney Spears on the phone... It's too ghastly to contemplate. Cher ROCKS. (Lily's the Goddess of Comedy, but Cher's just as great in my book!! )

  • Britney would probably look at the phone and go "wuts dis?i dun evn lol"
