this man is definately my style of character... he talks on the 'real' and he is funny and he is so sincere... he wants to help people and the world is in a desperate situation and i appreciate his work to share with the world. All those who share this man with others... i thank you very much
Wetern buddhist have made up as new version by buddhist clergys. Not as Buddha orginally taught. Totally, it's different than tranditional buddhism. Traditional Buddhism really have fear. Buddhism believe in hell. Bad people will go there, be punish then Satan send them back to new live as animals or human again. In hell bad buddhists will be boit in oil hot pot, be beat, cut a tongue..... Western buddists erases many things from buddhism.
@MrWrongevolution Some sect of buddhism have a little different view. just looks for between Mahayana and Theravada. specially about Hell. but both still very good teaching.
If you are sad, depressed, heartbroken, frustrated...the best way to recover is to dive in feet first and HELP OTHERS! Volunteer anywhere you can, as often as you can. Animal shelters, homeless shelters, boys and girls clubs, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. By helping others you will overcome your personal hardships. Trust me. I know this first hand. It really, truly works.
Thank you so very much for all the good advice and encouragement, we lost our sweet baby (19yr old son and a U.S. Marine), in a car accident in Jan of 11 and sometimes my sorrow is so profound and your words really help.
''In a relationship, fears give rise to controlling; and this ultimately spoil the relationship''. Ironically the person that fears is the very own caused of its fears. (I lived this)
This reminds me of how in the ancient myth, Oedipus' father out of fear set in motion all the necesary conditions for the oracle predictions to become true.
Again many Thanks to Ajahn Brahm and his Buddhist Society to spead the wisdom of Buddhism.
Little kids like 3 or 4 years old often try to please their parents in order to get more attention. Young people also try to dress up to attract a potential mate. So it's normal to care about what others think about you. But that type of thinking is not fit for buddhists because it originates from desire and attachment which buddhists seek to let go of.
@BhudhaLovesBudlight: Walk up to a bear without fear? How would you know that it is a bear without fear? It may be afraid & maul you in self defence. LOL
Seriously, fearlessness means we don't have to be afraid of the bear & kill it in self-defence if the bear is not threatening us. If it is threatening us but we can get to safety, we still don't have to kill it. Fearlessness does not mean foolhardiness - walking up to a bear. Fearlessness has to be combined with common sense & wisdom.
I love this guy so much...his talks are soooooooo helpful

When there is LOVE, there is no Fear.
Fear is the absence of Love.
Just as lighting a candle in a dark room. Darkness disappears.

@welisarage all "fears" originate from the *Self-Centered EGO*.
Because of the Ego, there are Attachments. These are the causes of all Sufferings.
