I was locked up for 16 years, 11 of it in colorado, and 5 1/2 years of it was spent in Ad-Seg and many years were in CSP. Has it ever dawned on the people who design these prisons--to design them in a way that will make extractions and such much easier? I mean, easier than a typical door opening that a team of officers have to cram their way into, behind some guy with a shield?

@dbethied Well, Most people in there arent murderers. most are people just like me, got caught up in drugs and busted. After a few times doing 9 months and 6 months they kept me in for 13 months. Not in a state prison but a Correctional Facility that to me is worse cause its stricter, plus you got murders in the Pod with people doing DUI time so a lot of bullying goes on. They usually dont try putting Molesters in with us, theyd be abused to the point of never having anything.

I use to be on ERT. Did a few cell extractions. Its gets really crazy when the inmate puts shampoo on the floor. Funny thing is that I use to be a CO and use to be a street cat. LOL! God works in wonderous ways.

I really like this show, but I feel the cameramen and the narrators are all very understanding and try to show that the prisoners have "hidden sides, empathy, and intelligence." People. This show is entertaining, but these guys are CRIMINALS. No other way around it. They are the lowest of the low, and would kill - if not already killed - at the drop of a hat. being locked up is like a monotanous drone of insanity hitting you every second of every day i only did 5 years not that much if you look at it and it still sent me wild in my head ive seen some of the most rspectable people crack and beat peoples heads in there it really is that that much of a mindfuck, and even the first time you go in it permantly fucks with your head.
Five yrs is a long time. I did close to 3 on 3 seperate ovvasion the longest I was in at once was 13 months. Man,nothing you can ever do could prepare your mind for the abuse its gonna take.
I was hit hard when I watched this episode. I've had friends locked up and they are great ppl. To watch how they r lonely in a single cell with no windows...I would flip out. My thoughts go out to these guys. Its great to read the support they have on here, but do they have other family or just each other? @ms042364 - I just watched LockUp on MSNBC this evening and although he was paroled last year, he violated his parole by coming into the parole board drunk and now he's back in for 2 years. The ending credits said he was recently put into the hole for punching an inmate that was defecatting in the shower.

I was locked up for 16 years, 11 of it in colorado, and 5 1/2 years of it was spent in Ad-Seg and many years were in CSP. I feel that anyone who decides to change their ways and do it for the better should be recognized. Whatever you do in life there will be consequences, whether good or bad. Oh these poor guys, they can't follow basic rules on the outside and they can't follow basic rules on the inside. Then they fight the jail officers and then complain that when they start fights its too rough. Only way to make our prison system work is 23 hour lockdown with an hour out for a shower and a phone call. There are no programs to rehabilitate people. Wait, I wasn't supposed to beat my wife, thank god this class taught me that. Fuck these people.

Has it ever dawned on the people who design these prisons--to design them in a way that will make extractions and such much easier? I mean, easier than a typical door opening that a team of officers have to cram their way into, behind some guy with a shield?
At the very least though... if they are gonna stick with this sort of prison design... why don't they simply open the porthole and taze the guy, then rush in when he is down.

@dbethied Well, Most people in there arent murderers. most are people just like me, got caught up in drugs and busted. After a few times doing 9 months and 6 months they kept me in for 13 months. Not in a state prison but a Correctional Facility that to me is worse cause its stricter, plus you got murders in the Pod with people doing DUI time so a lot of bullying goes on. They usually dont try putting Molesters in with us, theyd be abused to the point of never having anything.

I use to be on ERT. Did a few cell extractions. Its gets really crazy when the inmate puts shampoo on the floor. Funny thing is that I use to be a CO and use to be a street cat. LOL! God works in wonderous ways.

I really like this show, but I feel the cameramen and the narrators are all very understanding and try to show that the prisoners have "hidden sides, empathy, and intelligence." People. This show is entertaining, but these guys are CRIMINALS. No other way around it. They are the lowest of the low, and would kill - if not already killed - at the drop of a hat. While I am impressed by Slaegal's strength and determination, I do not respect him as a human being.

I was hit hard when I watched this episode. I've had friends locked up and they are great ppl. To watch how they r lonely in a single cell with no windows...I would flip out. My thoughts go out to these guys. Its great to read the support they have on here, but do they have other family or just each other? I live in MN, but Colorado is great...Denver, castle rock, and colorado springs.

I can only imagine that it would be pure hell on anyone being caged like an animal. I just hated seeing him go through even worse, being doused in chemicals, it seems so cruel and inhumane. Obviously he is very angry, I just don't understand why it's worth the extra pain and suffering? He really doesn't seem as scary under normal situations and interviews. Do you think it's the living conditions that made him snap like that? My heart goes out to him if it is.

@ms042364 - I just watched LockUp on MSNBC this evening and although he was paroled last year, he violated his parole by coming into the parole board drunk and now he's back in for 2 years. The ending credits said he was recently put into the hole for punching an inmate that was defecatting in the shower.
