  • how many reps and how long do you do the exercise for?

  • @MrAznPiano

    Yeah go Chinese people!!!(like me!!)

  • to harden fingers i tiger claw a tree and knife hand into a bucket of sand then punch a notebook or newspaper tied to a tree. paper protects from getting scraped from the bark

  • Stupid idiot!!!!! This must not be practiced unless you have developed your wei chi through special secret meditation practices which are done standing and sitting.Otherwise you will fuck up your hands and your health

  • Could you give me some tips, like how many times to do it one day, and how many times?

  • You should apply dit da jow to your hands wrists and finger joints before and after doing iron palm excercises to prevent the swelling or bruising.

  • This really shouldnt be taught to the general public. Most people do not have the proper ointment to heal the hands from daily abuse. Plus this guy didnt even give a recomended number of times to hit it. People can seriously injure there body by practicing this the wrong way and damaging their meridians. I find it offensive that people have he nerve to market shit like this

  • @TheUndeadDrifter

You're right, this is irresponsible guidance on the video's part for whatever the reasons. However, this was my favorite training when I was learning kung fu. I strengthen my fingers and joint first and foremost then move to the palm and fist. Needless to say it became pretty hard to the point that I can drive nails onto wood. Not in one hit mind you but continuous. And no, you cannot keep doing this for hours as you need time for body to recover.

  • @TheUndeadDrifter Wow, i was recently considering starting this training, but I didn't realize that I could actually injure my hands or "meridians" as you said. While I look up what meridians are, is there any other sort of precautions that I should take when practicing this? And, if you were wondering I want to harden my hands for work related purposes.

  • @JoeThaDreamer Sorry about the late reply. There are a lot of meridians in the hands and they travel throughout the body. For example, injuring one that leads to the eyes can lead to blindness. This video says nothing of dit da jiao (鐵打酒)which is an ointment that NEEDS to be applied to the hands before and after training to avoid injury. If you want to learn this then you have to find an instructor. Books and videos are no use.

  • I posted the above comment while logged onto my neighbor's account by accident.

  • @TheUndeadDrifter You think this is bad? Imagine the "str33t f1ght3rs" that watch a video for makiwara training and brutally break their knuckles from punching a solid piece of wood or stone or brick.

  • nothing compared to asians :P

  • Thanks for posting this. Is it okay to condition ridge hand strikes this way?

  • Wow this will help me alot thank you for that I'll be seeing you break stuff at the finish line them.

  • I need this bloke to give my mrs a couple of smacks

  • 0:12 he doesn't like it right?

  • what the fuck are an american learning me kung fu.change that man to a chinese .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @raztin1 Don't be a Raciest Prick. A Chinese more likely taught this American that. Any one can learn a Asian Martial Art you don't have to be Asian.

  • Wait so, im guessing you can also toughen ur head or fist using this? is that possible? and were can u get these from? what is it called? i need one asap lol.. some 1 answer haha

  • @CypherTv1 google iron tao bags and you can begin your training, also buy dit da jow to heal tenderness and bruising. Don't train at night otherwise you'll feel the warm pump sensation in your hands, chinese people call it chi, which will keep you up at night. Not sure about toughening skull with this bag, but you can get use to the pressure on your skull by doing neck bridges on mats, to boxing canvass, to wooden floors with a towel while strengthening your neck.

  • Are there any risks?

  • @Vesivian

Yeah, but only if a person does something stupid. I heard that its safer to just stick with finger and fist push ups, rather than hitting hard objects.

  • @Vesivian yep ;) that's why the chinese use some herbal liniment after that training. I think it's called Dit/did Da Jow. Search with google ;)

  • @Vesivian I've heard from my Sifu that iron palm can shorten your life span, I'm not sure by how much though. It has something to do with Chinese medicine and acupuncture, something about the meridians in your hands, a lot of people only train iron palm with one hand.

  • not sand, mung beans

  • he looks like Lex Luthor XD

  • if that guys is a sifu he sucks, that is not a horse stance, way way to high, and wicked lick, unless you take kung fu, piss off

  • It is the horse stance, some style's uses a deeper stances and other not.

  • FVKING PUZZY

  • YOU are H0MO

  • There's nothing wrong with this video at all. There's more than one way to skin a cat as they say.

  • First bag is mung bean, second is sand or rounded pebbles, or larger rounded "river rock",lastely you go to steel shot, but get a quality stainless shot, not some cheap lead that your hand will end up absorbing. This training is not aboutsmashing a bag,it is true "gungfu","mastery over TIME!" ,it becomes a type of meditative practice,at the most base level,it is a "conditioning exercise" for your hands.Get a teacher to guide you through the practice,it will enrich you....Enjoy it!

  • would it be a problem for me to wrap a tree or metal pole with a foam pad and use that as a punching bag?

i dont have access to a normal punching bag, and one concern is because the pole or tree wont move as opposed to the punching bag which will at least swing.

  • I think it would work i used to train Muay Thai and my Muay Thai teacher wrapped a foam pad around a pole inside are school it felt funny to hit but worked fine. My real advice is for you to seek out a teacher though. Peach i hope that helps.

  • Try craigslist i got a wave master from a lady close to were i live for 20 dollars and those things are almost 200 brand new. Funny thing is i do not own a car so i took the bus and no one was on but me and the driver he must of thought what are you doing with that huge thing but i just got on real fast and went to the back in the end went home and everything work out well. Good Luck

  • teaching" application is not correct. never bring you hand above your head. Mung beans is the first phase, second phase you have a choise of sand or garbanzosbeans, your thrid phase is the steel shots, alys warming up with the mung beans and propper exercise. Please you all be carefull trying these methods with out good and experiance. Teaching these porcesses on line is dangerous; lets be responsible teahers and give caution to the readers as theymay try it and get hurt during the process.
