I heard this guy in LA last month, and it changed my life. Seriously, this is a deep cat when he plays. Very cool and approachable too. Had a nice chat after his first set, and took the time to answer my questions. Then he got up and killed the second set.
jeff- the dominant george refers to here is the dominant (flat) seventh, which is an F. The dominant 7 is a very basic blue tone employed when playing in the key of g. dont be the idiot here man.
this guy is an idiot. the key of G has one sharp and it is F# goning from a tonic arpergio such as G, to a dominant arpegio such as D (most common) or F# (least common) is common practise the out sound is acei=ved by add the sub tonic F-natural. his
No offense to Mr. Shelby but I think a lot of this is marketing hype. From experience, any good or great player can sound however they want on any horn as long as they know what they are doing. The sound comes from the player moreso than the horn. Obviously, some instruments 'click' with players more than others, and that's fine...but to say that a certain brand is better than another. On that note though, George does know his stuff and that shows in this video.
Nice and useful advice!! Thanks

this is pretty good advice. i think this practise should also be done on other key signatures as well.
