  • That was wonderful, haha. Brought a smile to me

  • Oh really. I suppose you can keep that along with your Amos and Andy collection.

  • Thanks, tryjzz. A joy!

  • greatest melody ever

  • Hello 1016Ric. I have that Video from the Newport Jazz Festival here in Germany. I recordet it some 10-20 Years ago late at Night from our German TV. Its a great Treasure to me with all that Jazz Giants.. Also the late Anita O'Day is seen on it.

Well, i think i have to play that Video again.

  • I'm pretty sure that Jack and Louis did this at the 1958 Newport Jazz festival. I don't mean this video is from there, just that they did it again. Have you ever seen the video, "Good Evening, Ever'body"? A tribute to Satch at 1970 Newport Jazz. Its $22 at Amazon, and worth every cent !!!!

  • thanks german guy for fucking ruining this

  • Other than What a Wonderful World, this is my favorite Louis song. Just love that trumpet and teagarden's voice is just soooo Bing Crosbyish.

  • the art of making people happy is so lost on the present generation...

  • Teagarden was not Indian. This was a falsehood, not true.

  • great stuff... one of my favorites of Pops.. hands down...

  • great to see two great icons working together in unison, neither one does too much or too little - beautiful

  • Jack Teagarden- The first blue-eyed soul brother?

  • @susandiane311 Teagarden was actually an American Indian.

  • This is what I call great entertainment.

  • Bobby Hackett on cornet or trumpet at 2:36..you can see him playing when Louis takes his turn to sing lead. Exceptional piece. I've heard their recorded version on RCA Victor never saw the "Live" piece Thanks Man!!

  • Happy Birthday, Louis.

  • A great posting, thank you!!

  • I love jack and Pops RIP.

  • This actually aired on December 30, 1957. Armstong and Teagarden were touring with their "All-Stars" ensemble in '47, and didn't make any TV appearances that year.

  • Bellisimo, muchisimas gracias por publicarlo.

  • American music "Solid Gold" innovators.

Pops & JT, Right on the duet delivery!!

  • The place is Newport Jazz Festival and the year is 1958.

I know, because I have seen the whole film, it is more than two hours long, several times.

In this film there is a wonderful tune with Chico Hamilton and also lovely singing by Anita O´Day.

  • 500 years from now, when people may know little about the presidents and dictators of the 20th century they will still be listening to the great Louis Armstrong.

  • This song rocks, requested it last night at Maison Bourbon, and just loved their rendition. THE one place in the French Quarter you can find true jazz music seven days a week.

  • I have this on video on tape, Louis was a joker, don't miss 01:12 were Jack sings 'fetch me some water' and Louis replies 'You know you don't drink water!' and then turns his head to the camera lol

  • the best!

  • The coolest cats EVER!

  • Great entertainment!

  • Hermosisimo, muchas gracias.

  • Wonderful clip! Thanks for posting.:)

  • They also perform this, memorably, at the '58 Newport Jazz Festival, and it can be seen on the beautifully filmed JAZZ ON A SUMMER'S DAY (1960). Available via Netflix.

  • I've just uploaded the track from the 1958 NJF.:)

  • This is only the second time I've seen this, first was Ken Burns "Jazz". Thx for posting it!

  • Louis and Jack -- does it get any better?

  • Good old Jack Teagarden. He was really a good dude. Go visit New Orleans in the of season and check out where all this stuff got its legs.

  • I'm sorry, I just caught my error...the video is from 1957, not 1947! Thanks for posting it, again! - Ricky

  • This is from the first Timex All Star Show, broadcast on NBC on December 30, 1947. Pops brought along his group but on this track, sat in with Jack Teagarden's group, containing many former and future All Stars: Hackett, Hucko, Napoleon, bassist Arvell Shaw and drummer Cozy Cole. It's a great one! - Ricky Riccardi

  • Thanks Dippermouth, This is the one 'Timex Show' that I have not seen. Jim.

  • Ahh well, I was only a month out.... and wrong about the band being the All Stars lol, but you are right about it being a great one!

  • I think this is definitely after May 17th 1947 (New York town hall concert) Peanuts Hucko was at that concert but before November 30th 1947 (Symphony Hall concert) where Barney Bigard had joined the All Stars
