  • Nice hair, asshole.

  • that is the stupidest hair cut ever

  • He was such e genius! I believe he had Aspergers because he shows almoust every sign and he was so weird in such a nice way, beautiful mind

  • @gabitangerine I dont see how you got that. He was definitely an odd guy, but I dont see him as being autistic, especially seeing him in this interview, talking about his granddad. People with aspergers usually have a hard time showing warmth and compassion.

  • Tom Cottle wouldn't even be allowed to host a public access show with that hair today.

  • god give us back andy kaufman in return will give u opera winfrey !!!

  • @AndrewsOpinion15

Ha ha ...I agree with that one!

  • 4:22 Uh-oh.

  • @anakinthehutt Uh oh???

  • what the hell is going on this video??

    so much bizarre stuff.

    that interviewers hair for starters

  • i love his silent film story hahahaha!!

  • Achievement unlocked.

    Troll level 89 reached.

  • tom garfunkle

  • Jewfro all the way, man!

  • Cottle's hair makes his head look like a giant bubble...

  • Benji = Andy Kaufman

  • feels sincere

  • @mcfreddyd

Did you grow up with this or is it just for "DAS"?

  • @mcfreddyd FRED DURST !!!

  • winner jewfro

  • thats some beautiful hair

  • he kind of looks like eric warheim!

  • That fuckin hair is fucked up. Even then I bet

  • I'm beginning to believe that he might have a touch of Aspergers syndrome. The intensity of his focus, the fact that he made numeric associations as a kid, his mannerisms. He reminds me of a boy I used to babysit with Aspergers. He was a great kid, just a little different. And he never knew when he was going "too far".

  • @ElanaVital83

It's possible, but the main diagnosis tool for those on the spectrum is how they react to the world around them and the diifficult stimuli in it.

Andy didn't seem to struggle in this capacity, according to the biographies that I've read anyway. When he wasn't "on" he had the proper affect and could cope just fine.

He was hyperintellligent, though, and that is a trait found in many people with Asperger's.

  • I'm sort of having second thoughts about he being real... for him it was "all a big act" ... Andy i mean... ....and also Cottle's hair...

  • Tom Cottle was a genius.

  • @Allrightteam Tom Cottle What About Andy Kaufman

  • @tictixtiv He must be the other guy, then?

  • The real Kaufman.

  • whoooaaaa the hair... looks like a mushroom.. covered with granny pubes

  • Tom, was your hair electrocuted?

  • lol, I heard, "So you locked yourself in the womb?" wow, lol

  • What year was this?

  • @triplePguy 1983

  • balding jewfro

  • cLaSsIc MaTiRaL..

  • just shows you can become quite successful in show biz with a mental illness

  • Genius or Penis?.......mmmm Dont Know!

  • @666fannyfart I understand your dilemma...but please don't side with the genitalia! Genius is always discernable (as I'm sure you know) by the ability to raise the question in the audience "Penis or Genius!?"...it is nearly always the case that the artist called emphatically "Genius" is the biggest Penis...

Andy's Genius was in just the ambiguity that you feel...I think he would have loved the idea that people didn't know-he certainly created the "penis" character evident in this interview...

  • well honed my man....well honed!

  • @666fannyfart Genius with a Penis!

  • god he probably made up the whole story lol

  • That line between genius and insanity.

  • i think never being serious would start to take its toll on someone

  • @bungbung13131 it does, like always trying to be cool

  • it is amazing that kaufman played the media till the end

  • thurs a huge steaming pile of cow dung on your head!

  • @sweetalker79

yea...... he is so trying to be "black". its kinda pathetic on his part lol.

  • @sweetalker79 That's the first thought that went through my mind to. That hair!

  • Andy Kaufman

  • Awesome!

  • lol The pleasure is all mine.

  • I saw the movie first time in 2001 but back them I didn't understand it much and I had no internet to find out about this guy. I have been a fan of Elvis a few years too. But better late than never.

I read there will be new book out in October by Lynne Margulies and Bob Zmuda. Looking forward to it!

  • They're coming out with another book? I didn't know that! Awesome! Thanks for the info!

  • yeah. great, isn't it? I read it on the Facebook group for Andy. it is called "Dear Andy Kaufman, I hate your guts" you can already find it on Amazon and you can already pre-order it.

  • omg...I cannot believe I have missed this interview. lol, I thought i have watched all Andy clips here on youtube. But this is new for me!! thanks.

please take a look at my Tribute to Andy! thx

  • I think this is Andy's only 100% serious, non-put-on interview (okay, minus the part about wrestling being real). I hate to psychoanalyze, but it's so telling that Andy started performing as a kid for hours and hours...just for himself. And then his baby sister who couldn't talk.

This was close to the end of his life, and I wonder if he just wanted to open up a bit.

  • i dont think this was 100% serious... he seems a bit more shook-up and nervous than he should be

  • This interview was one of Andy's last TV appearances. Tom Cottle was a TV psychologist, kinda like Dr. Phil. This is a somewhat hard-to-find interview. Thanks for posting!

  • @tkanenigga Actually his last appearence on tv was on Letterman

  • Andy looks like a deer in the headlights at the beginning. Maybe he is scared of the interviewers hair!

  • LOL That SO reminds me of that scene in Firefly where River is almost PSYCHOTICALLY TERRIFIED of Shepherd Book's hair! LOL

  • Bravo BRAVO !!!!

    Grade Aaaaaaaa fuckin ShitE

  • wow ,,,this is gold

  • Thx for the up, SillyCrazyInsane.

    I got all choked up.

  • kaufman was just way ahead of his time, where now we would way more accepting of his comedy. genius

  • maybe we would be more accepting today. no way to find out, now! but yeah, he was just so brilliant. a true entertainer.

  • Andy enjoyed the ACT, the PERFORMANCE, FOOLING PEOPLE, and SEEING HOW FAR HE COULD TAKE IT. One of the reasons that he's known to be a genius is that he was always pushing the envelope. Even those closest to him aren't sure they "get it". Danny Devito who costarred with him in TAXI and helped get the "Man on the Moon" biopic made says that even at Andy's funeral he was waiting for him to pop out from behind a curtain. He's STILL not sure he's dead, and he's not the only one.

  • that hair was great man

  • Kaufman is a God, for real!

  • Captain 70s is actually not a bad interviewer. So far as I've seen he's the only guy besides Steve Martin(Filling in for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show)to get Andy to show the real Andy. But maybe it's best that even on this there is doubt; the legacy of Andy Kaufman.

  • Tom Cottle's hair is hilarious! What was he thinking?

  • This is so pretty!

  • 4 hours of programming. My God.

  • Toms hair is ridiculous!!!

  • i don't miss VCR's. not one little bit.

  • thank

  • This isn't an interview. This is an appointment with a shrink! What's with the guys line of questioning. Very intrusive.

  • You notice how Andy coughs occasionally during this interview? This was taped only 6 months before he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

  • Well I don't know. It's possible that he coughs because of the cancer but in the beginning the guy says that they both have a cold so I think Andy just had a cold here.

  • Never seen this before. Thanks for uploading it! :)

  • wow ,,,this is gold... !

  • indeed, thanks SillyCrazyInsane ;)
