  • Until Haiti spoke, no christian nation had abolished slavery.

Until Haiti spoke, no Christian nation had given to the world an organized effort to abolish slavery

Until Haiti spoke, the church was silent and the pulpit was dumb. Slave-traders lived, and slave-traders died. Frederick Douglass

  • as a jamaican, i have alot of Haitian friends in jamaica,, they r nice people

  • @GmanZouk

Thank you for the kind remarks but let me tell you that this documentary was a one man initiative supported by many. The new faces of Haiti is calle Faces of Haiti2 which is more engaged and is 40 minutes long. Look for it soon. I have just posted the trailer of Faces of Haiti 2 on YOU TUBE. Cheers, Jacques Roc Director/Producer of Faces of Haiti and Faces of Haiti 2

  • Nice

  • Wow, and here I though Haïti had been politicaly and economically destoyed by the US and France. But apperantly they've left enough space between the missery to accomodate luxery hotels and resorts for soem of the repressed and expoited Haitian to cater to the whims of rich (American) tourists. Gosh, how sweet

  • @VaQm10

Sure Vaqm10 I can see that you would rather know that Haiti is a destroyed land left over by the fighting of France, England and Spain over a country that once represented 75% of France's budget...until the Haitian revolution tip things over and made your country one of the richess country in the world. How...maybe you don't know. The purchase of Louisiana was two third of America my friend all should be credited to Haiti...because France was broke and had to sell. COUNT your blessing!

  • Im not sure if we understand each other correctly. What Im getting at is that across the globe countries are being destoyed by (neo)colonial powers, like France, like the US.And after they've destoyed nearly all their human dignity they let the colonized work in their factories and their hotels. Now rich investors are screeming Haiti should develop tourism to get out of poverty. But who ownes and who labors? You see anyHaitians in those hotels?Haiti was rich and self subtaining once, look at it now.

  • I dont know hat it is. I dont mean to sound all "new age" but there is something magical....exotic and mystical about the aura of my home island lol.

  • Stop been ignorant. Every country has their flaws. Well the purpose of this video is to attract tourist. That's the point to show the beautiful part of HAITI. THANKS GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

    HAITI POUR LA VIE.

  • @djannivia

No one says anything when the show the great parts of a city that has plenty of awful places. But when you do it for Haiti...every one screams...be real guys, wake up and smell the coffee

  • wow I love Haiti with all my heart.. I can't atand anyone who talks some rubbish about my country

  • About Time

  • have been to many of the Caribbean islands; Mexico and even the other side of the island, Dominican Rep. doesn't feel the way HaitI does. I can't even explain the feeling but It feels good.I can't help but go back every year and enjoy my country of origin!!!! GO Haiti Cherie!!! Even my Boyfriend who is Cuban has been to Haiti with me, and LOVES IT!! and can not wait to go back next year

  • I love love Haiti!!! and yes it is poor economically but as the woman said it is beautiful and rich in culture. I was born in brooklyn, NY to Haitian parents. I go to Haiti every summer because we have a house there in the mountains. There is something about Haiti that hits me every time i get there. It's an essence and it feels good. Although some areas are poor and I help all I can!!! I

  • wow i really never knew haiti had such places.

hopefully they only grow more from there.

i live in DR but i would like to visit haiti at least once, to experience and learn about the people and culture on the other side of our island.

because really dominicans and the world in general only see the bad of haiti and its people, its about time we see the good.

  • @coolguy20205

    Dear Collguy.

    I

  • @coolguy20205

There you go Cool Guy! Haiti needs everyone's attention now after this earthquake shook us up. I am the one who directed & produce this documentary. The purpose was to celebrate our 200 hundred years of freedom and therefore the music related to that along with the beautiful images of this film. I read some stupid remarks. Pass on! I had just produce the second Faces of Haiti2 it is 40 minutes long. It will be release soon. let's try to rebuild the country. Jacques Roc

  • @jacquesrocfilmaker - how elsecan I call and talk to you about this documentary are you in the states? and/or interetsed in licensing this?

  • @naniife

Normally I am in the states, but now I am in Haiti doing some social films to change the mentality a bit. Faces of Haiti was produced back in 2004. The new Faces of Haiti2 is out and will be released on DVD soon. Don't hjave a date as yet. It is more involved and longer: 40minutes. I have added the trailer on Youtube try to see it. I wll get in touch with you once the DVD is out.

Cheers, Jacques Roc Director/Producer of Faces of Haiti and Faces of Haiti2

  • True, there's a cold war outthere between them Island, English speaking media trying to destroy French speaking media, so their Islands can have more tourists, that's what I think, but I know for a fact, HAITI is rich and beautiful, our Prestige is too strong, they can't destroy us.

  • That's what the Zionist control American Media don't want show you! They want you to believe Haiti is a poor country, with it unique geographical features Haiti's beautiful is second to none!

  • why dont jamaica show kingston ghettos b/c of tourism

  • Hiati is really wonderful and beautiful! That means haiti is also africans! But is it true that there are zombies and voodoo in haiti? Because i'm really scared to go!

  • what is so wrong about voodoo? it´s nothing but a native religion, for me it is by far not as scaring as the islam. the worst of voodoo is its - not justified - reputation. You can be sure that voodoo believers will not put bombs or kill those who don´t share their beliefs.

  • Nice F-ing comment dude, i bet that person who left that comment is not even in bahamas. Ambreginny i got ur back 100%.

  • Yep, yo o zetazini y'ap manje poul mouri epi y'ap vin manke moun dega bo isit la.

  • and why you all showing the rich people show the poor ones

  • because the poor ones are shown often enough. it´s time to show the beautiful sides of Haiti.

By the way lady, there are more precious riches than money.

If you don´t like the country just stay away from it ok???

  • llyn1, i think ur jealous to see how beautiful Haiti is. U think the bahamas is the only beautiful place. I don't think so. And btw, like Mari said, they as other countries always show the bad/poor side of haiti not the good because of jealousy just like u are.

  • Because 99% of the other videos already depict the poor areas. All they show is Cite Soleil and people have that perception that the entire island is like that. I know you said it to be rhetorical but still I thought I'll respond to you anyway.

  • I would rather die or eat shit before I ever set foot in the Bahamas.

I swear to God black people on this planet are the only ones who are so divided, and Bahamians are a great example. Whites uplift and support their own in times of hardship; blacks demean, belittle and are prejudiced toward other blacks like them in contrast. United, we will all fall.

And please, go tell naive people who will believe you that you too don't have poor people and slums in your country. :)

  • @ambreginny - I'm sorry you feel that way about the Bahamas and Bahamians. I am Bahamian and regrettably, i must agree with what you feel about haitian Bahamian relations. Unfortunately our ignorance was shaped by our slave masters who told us all sorts of terrible things about The Haitian people way back in the days of slavery because they feared that if we embraced you then surely you would introduce us to the concept of freedom, which they (the slave masters) could not afford to have happen.

  • @ambreginny Today, the affects of that coonila strategy is still alive in the minds of many of the poeple in my country. We were never told/taught about the haitian Revolution, Never told about the trans Atlantic Slave trade and therefore never knew that we had brothers and sisters scattered all across the caribbean or even that we had a mother country called Africa.....

  • @ambreginny My eyes are welling with tears as i type this because it hurts so bad to know that i'm not reciting some fairytale but rather a real life experience...that of our forefathers....

  • @ambreginny They devided and ruled with iron fists and lying tongues and its still hurting Africans especially those of the diaspora even until this day. Pls don't blame bahamians, they are victims of a set of unfortunate circumstances. The way that most Bahamians respond to Haitian people is only a symptom...the cause is rooted in slavery.

  • I can't believe you posted ur ignorant comment..i would hate others to believe that the Bahamas has such ignorance in which you have displayed, its time to lend a helping hand instead of putting down.. besides i love my haitian brothers and sisters their culture is amazing..

  • come on now do you have kids then you would not understand shit your still young your eyes are close to the hatians now when they take over and you can get a JOB your ass will see

  • My dear, my age has nothing to do with anything, I'm aware of the current situation going on around us, what I'm trying to say is your representing yourself and the Bahamas the wrong way- they helped the Bahamas when we were starving during te depression- yes the influx of them is a problem but do you really think going about it this way will solve anything? I'm pretty sure my future is secure, I'm young I'm educated and I keep in my books do your research next time.

  • Who in here are saying that Haiti is great? We're just saying just like any other countries/islands there are bad areas and there are nice areas.

Please, please, log off of youtube and pick up a grammar book and practice your English writing. It's time you get promoted to the second grade.
