Somebody from RPI did this? I expected more creativity for the money his parents paid. I grew up and was educated in Troy. Won the World Series of Poker and spent 20 years on Wall St. Didn't work out too bad for me. Just moved back Upstate, wouldn't want it any other way.
Troy is near Wynantskill and the famous Heinie winery. Troy also is the site of the first lock of the famous barge canal. As shown in this video is the South End Tavern of the famous South End Tavern corned beef sandwich. Yummie!!!

I lived there from 1983 to 2000, i remember there used to be parades to stop the crack use down 1st St. The strongst and best thing Troy has is its residents pride and love for the city and what it once was. Now that i live in a 0 crime area... i dont have any problem being from the hood. im proud to be from ST!

Clever mockumentary, enjoyed the late 80s city promotion video music especially. I lived in nearby Schenectady in 1999-2000, Troy's not so bad - downtown needs businesses and RPI isn't well-integrated. But downtown is filled with European-facade buildings, the neighborhood around Russell Sage College is beautiful and pedestrian - there are probably a good 50-75 blocks downtown that form the core of an urban renewal. Just needs retail.

It is a pity Troy can't quite get it done. The downtown has the appearance of a movie set with it's older architecture, I thoroughly enjoyed studying it. It's a New York river town, of which there are many, and should not have to apologize for it's industry in clear site, but it's blighted neighborhoods need investment and perhaps Troy could one day be much more than what it is now. Troy could be a wonderful destination, unfortunately it's continues to slide.

RPI has provided a lot of jobs to keep the city going and now they have created a technical/industrial park that is helping to re-vitalize the entire area. High-Tech companies are discovering the wealth of intelligent gradautes and low-cost real estate. Everything is cyclical. Troy is coming back.
I have been to Europe, Mexico, Canada, and all around the US, and I honestly haven't found somewhere I'd rather live. To address the commenter who is proving his or her point via YouTube comments, this must signify that the whole world is nasty, as the majority of YouTube comments on every video lack grammar, or any other signs of intelligence.

I think it would be easy to make this sort of a video about any of the cities that actually do purport to be tourist destinations. Troy is not a tourist destination, but that does not mean it is desolate. Also, every place looks bleak in that frozen time between when the leaves fall and when the snow does.

I lived in Troy when I went to RPI from 2005-2009, and it was a dismal city. There were always clouds and drizzle with a rare sunny day. It was a prime location for black kids to mug RPI students, and unfortunately I was one of the victims. However, unlike most of the students who gave up their possessions readily, I ensured that those niggers would never commit crimes again since they got broken arms and kneecaps.
Troy is just nasty and I'm glad I left it. The ghettos of NYC look better than the streets of Troy. At least in the ghettos in NYC the people act like people instead of animals. You can tell the class of most (not all) of the people in Troy just by reading these comments. Degenerate mofo's.

I don't think this video is fair at all - I've been to Troy once in my life but even from spending a few hours there I could tell that the city has lots of potential. Does it need a huge amount of revitalization? Yes, but Troy believe it or not has some nice parts.

It's a New York river town, of which there are many, and should not have to apologize for it's industry in clear site, but it's blighted neighborhoods need investment and perhaps Troy could one day be much more than what it is now. Troy could be a wonderful destination, unfortunately it's continues to slide.

I went to college in Troy, and
this is just a smear job on a city that has seen better days, but never gave up.
RPI has provided a lot of jobs to keep the city going and now they have created a technical/industrial park that is helping to re-vitalize the entire area. High-Tech companies are discovering the wealth of intelligent gradautes and low-cost real estate. Everything is cyclical. Troy is coming back.

I have been to Europe, Mexico, Canada, and all around the US, and I honestly haven't found somewhere I'd rather live. To address the commenter who is proving his or her point via YouTube comments, this must signify that the whole world is nasty, as the majority of YouTube comments on every video lack grammar, or any other signs of intelligence.

I think it would be easy to make this sort of a video about any of the cities that actually do purport to be tourist destinations. Troy is not a tourist destination, but that does not mean it is desolate. Also, every place looks bleak in that frozen time between when the leaves fall and when the snow does.

I lived in Troy when I went to RPI from 2005-2009, and it was a dismal city. There were always clouds and drizzle with a rare sunny day. It was a prime location for black kids to mug RPI students, and unfortunately I was one of the victims. However, unlike most of the students who gave up their possessions readily, I ensured that those niggers would never commit crimes again since they got broken arms and kneecaps.

I don't think this video is fair at all - I've been to Troy once in my life but even from spending a few hours there I could tell that the city has lots of potential. Does it need a huge amount of revitalization? Yes, but Troy believe it or not has some nice parts.
