this guy kills me. Robert can make a pile of dog shit sound amazing. Like noone else I've ever heard. makes me effin crazy!!!! lol I could run out and buy the same guitar and same amp and not ever get close to those sounds.
Can you use Gain knob while on a clean channel to give the sound more 'balls'? I mean, can you use Gain to add more compresion/boost to clean sound but not distorting it at the same time? How much can you adjust distortion level with turning your guitar volume knob down?
You're selling me out this amp every time I see one of your videos, loooove your tone; is nice to have someone do demos that don't require metal presets all the time and thus show the true versatility of this amps.....btw, all the effects are from the amp controlled via a FVB footswitch or are you using a M13 or POD for that?
Robert, great demo. happen to still have the amp settings for your 1st channel saved? really like the srv tone that you got out of it. Just got into the line 6 family and am digging the results. thanks again.
Guys, you can call it a tube amp all you want. And it is. But its like having about 30 of those "transistor" pedals hooked up to it all the time. It's still going to suck tone, because anything that gets in the way of the signal, i.e. volume pots, tone pots, amp eq knobs, etc. will suck tone. I own this amp; the cleans are really good. I'm not so sure about the dirt though. I'd hate to say it, but it doesn't stand up to my Vox. Like a blanket's on it.
@rufiopan1 I have the same problem as you, but the last three channels are actually very good. I only have problems with 4 channels: Crunch Amber, Blues Amber, Class A Blue, and some other clean channel I can't remember. Some of these problematic channels can be tweaked to get rid of that suckish tone, and a couple are bad sounding indefinitely. The rest are a different story; excellent. Anyone, If there's a way to tweak these "problem" channels and make them sound good, it'd be much appreciated
@LeggoMaEggo17 I downloaded the Valve Infusion 2.0, at first, I didn't like it much, but after messing with it, it sounds better, IMO. This time, there are different tunings for 212, so this one is EQ'd specifically for this cabinet, which was a big problem before. If you prefer a lot of bass, it's better than 1.5, but not as good as 1.0. The dirt sounds better and it is more dynamic. It gets a little muddied up on some of the channels, but nothing that can't be tweaked out. Still no class A.
BTW, the preamp tubes don't function like they do in a tube amp, thats why it doesn't sound quite the same. You can read about it on Line 6's website. One is a phase inverter, and the other something else, but neither are really a preamp. It still has a SS pre; that said, if you put a boost in front, it sounds better, and if you can crank it (w/Infusion 2.0), the power tubes are really power tubes, and then it sounds pretty damn good. You have to get the master really cranked, though.
Good demo! I just ordered mine ( Mk II 212). I already own a high end Class A amp. This is for all small club gigging where a good tube amp isn`t able to sound as it should ( not as loud as it should be to crunch). Also handy to have a jack of all trades in your car when your beeing hired to fill in for someone who`s gone sick. With this you go from Rockabilly to Old Style Rock in a step on your FBV.
Awesome demo of this amp. I think these amps are groundbreaking. It is laughable --the people who say it isn't a tube amp. Like it somehow sounds transistor. But beyond that, those same people go out and buy expensive all tube boutique amps and then run a transistor pedal through the front and act like a purist. Modeling sounds better than transistors--and more organic. I love the simplicity. USB cord, and guitar cable..
the octafuzz portion sounds pretty much just like Satch's tone, then it gets pretty Crossroady. do you think the tubes in the amp make a big difference in the heavier distortion models?
@fluffyguitarist its a modeling amp so its not really "tube" distortion. its layered by so many effects that the tube tone is lost. sounds good, but not tube. nothing beats a real all tube amp.
Line 6 is looking for players like you. Why not call them and tell them what you're doing with their equipment and steer them towards your videos. Maybe the 'dolphin series' amp is just around the corner. Good luck.
@flororecatado I don't know. I don't use compressors often. There is a Red and also a Blue comp in the M9/M13 and this amp that both sound good to me.
Yes to both questions. I'm guessing you have an FBV pedal that you're controlling your MKII with -- you use that as an interface between your computer and your amp. Make sure you update your amps operating system version (18 or so new effects!) and download spider IV edit that will allow you to edit and save presets on your computer... I've got the spider iv 75 solid state amp and it breaths like a valve amp... first time I've ever bought a spider amp... very nice
This may not be relevant to the video but I've been looking for strap like yours with no luck. Who is the maker? is it leather and swede at the back? Thanks!

i dont see why people are arguing about it being tube or not? This amp brings out the best of both worlds which is what makes it soo great!

Hi Robert
I've been following your videos for quite a while now and wanted to tell how inspiring they are. Thanks for your playing.
I have just one question. I'm on the market for a compressor and yours sounds really fat and clear. What's your choice?
Regards.
