This is just a game. If you want actual landing simulation, go visit a naval operation training center and ask them for a flight in one of those simulators. You will get really frustrated because you will fail a hundred times before you get it right if it is real life situation.

I've flown in the RAF Typhoon simulators, and that's even harder because you have less space to land correctly, carriers are giant if you're the only one on it (which on a naval sim, you usually are). I managed to land fine.

@1hdude1 . There are simulators that tie in combat, such as Over-G Fighters. Where the physics input is top-notch, the g-forces effect you (not physically, clearly..). Not to mention the fact that I play Over-G Fighters with an entire squadron of fighter pilots from the RAAF.

Btw you can land a plane slightly sideways. Maybe not that much out, but it is possible to land a little bit sideways. Momentum flicks the plane straight. Depends the angle which you land as well will burst the tyres ( angle between ground and plane). So this is a little more exaggerated but it is possible.

Allll the ppl saying how bad hawx two is and how un realistic it is have a look at hawx 1. They have made 2 so much more realistic than that. Not saying it's perfect. But it's a hellova lot better. Jesus Chirst, look at the size of that carrier! That's not a super-carrier, it's more like a hyper-carrier. And yes, this game is clearly not a simulation. And the proof of that is:

- He landed on the wrong side of the carrier. The cables are on the other side of the deck.

- His AoA (and, therefore, his vertical speed) is way too high. He would have smashed his landing gear and crashed.

- His speed is too high. He landed at 300 km/h. The correct speed is aprox. 240 km/h.

@veraten Well, when I first tried it, I was a noob tool lol. I couldn't land a glider properly. FSX is a difficult simulator, so I had to read lots of manuals, real pilot forums and Simulator fan forums to improve my overall flight experience. If you do it too, in a couple of months you'll be a pro. Landing on a carrier in FSX is very fun and exciting. Learn the basics of it, train and when you finally succeed, you'll feel like you're a TOPGUN pilot ;)

Screw FSX, get Falcon BMS. I'd say its the most highly realistic fs out there, with a 716 page manual and highly detailed avionics. Plus, the carriers are to-scale, meaning they're tiny... Sometimes (even with your hook down) you land at the very edge of the carrier and can't turn around, and if you try taking off again you just plumet straight down! :P

I too play games like these, such as Ace Combat, were you can fire a shitload of missiles and pull out 9G maneuvers for 5 minutes without blacking out, but at least in Ace Combat, when you land on the carrier you land on the right side of it and with an acceptable speed. Whether HAWX is fun or not, I really don't know because I never played it.

I've counted 848 pages of reading that include the Falcon 4.0 manual, Falcon 4.0 BMS, Cockpit Checklist, Ramp Start Checklist, Emergency Checklist, Main Checklist, Quick Threat Guide, AN/APG-68 Operations Guide and AIM-120 Operations Guide.

I read the game's reviews and saw videos of its gameplay (and graphics, of course). After this, I just thought: What the fuck have I been missing?!

@OmsoiTekken I literally have the game in my PS3 as i'm writing this. In my game it's a F-16 Fighting Falcon. Go look up some pics. Only difference is the F-16 in that mission has some kind of desert camo on it, kind of like MARPAT. The only other option is that HAWX 2 has regional differences, like say in the US version of the game, you use a Su-47, or in the UK version, you use a F-22. These are just examples btw.
