It seems to only happen when the camera is being moved,.. even if slightly.. this cam is great but the clicking sound sucks. .I hope since that is the engineering sample they will fix that. I mean.. how could Samsung, when testing it out, not hear that and think "that sounds horrible"
Do you think they will fix that clicking sound? Is that the motor.. it is actually really annoying. I want to buy this camera but that shuttering/clicking sound is almost constant and would actually prevent me from buying this.
ANY Pocket Camcorder does. Even some higher end HD cameras that cost $500 have a hard time focusing on a moving object 1 foot away.
Typically, you want to be at least 3ft away. Notice the plants in the background and how crisp they look. They seem to be about 4 feet away and look great.
If your looking for something that can focus on a moving object a ft away then pocket camcorders like this and the Flip ones arent for you.
Ok. Thanks for reply. The U20 is very interesting. I have to find some kind of small HD camcorder or digital camera with HD video for home use. I may buy Samsung WB500/550. It looks promising.
Canon does have small and capable cameras and they got good reviews everywhere but they are not quite durable IMHO. I have broken three Canon pocket cameras same way. The sliding mode selector will eventually broke. Soldering at the surface-mount component plastic film usually cracks (there is no PCB).
Thanks ChipperMist. I have a flip Ultra HD and I noticed that the left mic "clips" the sound when it's too loud or the sound has a strong low frequency (like a bass hitting etc). If you can test the mic from this new Samsung HMX-U20, to see if it clips too, it would be nice. And if you can, record too in dark places with low light. Thank you!
@ChipperMist Where did you buy it from? Im trying to find a place to buy it where I wont have to wait too long. Best Buy says its backordered and I am not sure how long it will be for.
@crazyasianskills i cancelled the order and got a Sony HDR-CX150 instead. I know it has a tragic price difference but I kinda decided to go with the best. Also that order didn't arrive me for more than a month and they told it would take more time, so I let go that. Check out my test video on Sony HDR-CX150 High Definition Camcorder.

The camera has great difficulties to focus anything.
