  • She can smile because she uses the art of music the right way. As an outlet, as a hobby, and as something you just love to do. She expresses her deepest inner-most feelings to us, and she gets all her hurt out. She has such passion for what she does. And all of this allows her to reflect and work through her hardships. Amy is an amazing person, and will continue to be amazing for a very long time.

  • i dont see nothing in the interwiew to calll" A Sad Interview with Amy Lee..."

    bad choice of title..

  • Wow....I so feel her on this. I've been feeling 30 years old since I was like 6. I love how she can come out on top and smile about it. She's so strong and beautiful!

  • I love how she doesnt cry. it just shows how strong she is<3

  • is she talking about loosing her cherry? . . . dirty bitch :))

  • @wachm3 she's talking about her sister dying! hope you have fun in hell

  • this isn't sad.

  • U would notice the sorrow in her smile like at 0:22 wow shes just amazing :( here songs are so full of meaning and can relate to everyone...

  • @zimonslot You're disgusting.

  • @zimonslot You should die

  • its more of a nervous smile, when i talk about tragic things i realize how much stronger ive become by realizing that now i can smile and laugh when i talk about them. other ppl usually just look at me like im crazy. when i have nothing else i use the pain to just push me on. life is just a journey, to where...we'll know when we get there.

  • She smiles when she becomes uncomfortable and laughs too... it's a strange habit that I have as well... when something happens that makes me too uncomfortable, like if someone asks me a painful question or something horrible happens, I start smiling and laughing. I can't help it, it's a reaction.

  • This looks like alicia keys

  • aff

  • What...The...Hell is wrong with her hair...

  • @deathtothemushroom this guy is one of those atheists up in your face about it. No one cares bro. You believe what you want, but don't critisize someones beliefs because they differ from your own.

  • @twinkaz123 I've criticized nothing, just asked questions. why is it always the one with the questions who gets bashed? I just think it's curious that people blindly believe in things they know almost nothing about....

  • For part of my work on Purple Rain album and film, I am credited as Prince's father John "LEE" Nelson. This is also where the lead singer of Evanescence who uses my name as her stage name came up with the pseudonym for her father John "LEE".

  • i love u amyy... your beautiful face, heart, smile i hope u add me personal at my facebook amyrulg6@yahoo.com..i wait for u there..

  • its in the past, she got over it. thats why she can now look back and smile, oh yeah there was a time like that - which she got out of.

  • Honestly, I think she smiles because she already assumed that her little sister's death was something on God's will, and she understood that as very young, she grew up really fast because of that. And I totally understand how she feels, she has learned that if life takes something away from you, it's 'cause it's the best.

  • @florevsnowhite why would it ever be a "God's will" for someone to die?

  • @deathtothemushroom God plans everything, you can't judge His decitions, and if He wants to take a sweet angel with Him, He will do it, because He knows it's the best.

  • @florevsnowhite hmmm, how come this God you speak of doesn't take douche bags like saddam hussein or hitler when they are just kids? and why would he chose some persons only? aren't all people equal to your God?

  • @deathtothemushroom Ok, you're mixing things up. I blame all the problems with this people you say to the politics, and the way they have to manage everything. God has nothing to do. God gives us a soul to live, and he decides when take it away, we are not puppets of Him in this world. Everyone can live his life the way they fucking want it, but if someday death comes, we have nothing to do.

  • @florevsnowhite okey, so you say that God has the power of taking an innocent persons life, but doesn't care (?) about what people are doing, like politics and war? that's no God I want in my life... and why would a God "chose" to take someone? are they like special to him/her or what?

  • @deathtothemushroom Yeah I getting tired of your stupid coments, I believe in God and His decitions, if you want to believe in nothing, go ahead. But don't blame God for all the problems, he's not the responsable.

  • @florevsnowhite stupid comments? I'm just asking questions that you're avoiding cause you don't have any answers... funny though, that your god can make desicions that he isn't responsible for but yet we'd have to accept what he has done.. why should this supposed high power desicion maker be above us and decide what and how we should behave. I've read the bible too and I know it says he gave the humans free will, so why punish them when they do something they "shouldn't"?

  • @deathtothemushroom Because of that thing they shouldn't do. That's the answer you want. They do something they shouldn't and that's how He punished them and the entire generations. All the pain is caused by the original sin. You have a different perspective, everyone has.

  • @florevsnowhite why should I have to take punishment from something my ancestors did 500 years ago? what about forgive and forget? and why should we who don't belive in your stuff have to be affected by it? and why give the humans free will in the first place if they aren't allowed to use it anyway?

  • @deathtothemushroom Ok, maybe you should see a therapist, 'cause I'm not a freaking wikipedia dude.

  • @florevsnowhite you know what, I think you're the one who needs to see a shrink, cause it's certainly not I who believes in things I have no prof for, put my heart and soul in to defend it and then don't know anything about it... just think religious people in general should be a bit more aware of what they're actually supporting

  • @deathtothemushroom [writing from a christian point of view. you don't have to believe it if you don't want to]

think about it this way: go look at all the evanescence videos across youtube. now look in the comments box and look at all the people who say they were going to do something like kill themselves until they heard some song by her. if Amy's sister never had died, nothing would have inspired her to start writing songs, meaning all those people would be dead if her sister hadn't died...

  • @PIXLnxt okey, I find it very hard to believe that her sister's death is the only reason she makes music. as if she was "my sister died so I should make music now".I find no valid point in that. there's only one song that she's clearly said it's about her sister and it's not exactly a cheerful "I hope you have a good time in 'heaven' please don't come back here" song. and I strongly doubt that Amy's music alone has saved many, many peoples lives. they aren't exactly any cheering up songs

  • @deathtothemushroom It has saved people. Her music shows us that it's okay to feel sad and express that emotion, in a society that demands we hide that and smile through everything.

  • @foxshadowp dude, even if it saved a life it wouldn't be on the behalf on some imaginary friend... and again, why would anyone want to be saved if it's so great to be in heaven? cause your god forgives right? and if someone killed themselves, why wouldn't he forgive that but forgive everything else??? the only god there is, is the one that you create in your head

  • @deathtothemushroom the time we spend on earth is infinitely small compared to eternity, and there are only two ways you can go.

taking amy's sister to heaven in order to cause her to write the songs which caused the people not to kill themselves which caused them to have a longer and better chance at accepting christ could cause them to change where they're going after death.

really it's saving a heckload of people from spending eternity in hell...

  • @PIXLnxt since I still don't believe her sister was "taken" I won't comment on that again... so you deon't think it's a little bit unfair towards a kid who haven't even got a taste of life yet to be "taken" away from it? and if this person who supposedly would have killed themselves if it wasn't for her music were christians? wouldn't that have been a bit unfair towards them in your point of view?

  • @deathtothemushroom eternity-which will never end. compare that to life on earth, like 60 to 90 years. if you had the choice would you rather spend a longer time in the cruel cold world or have a shorter life and make it to eternal paradise quicker while also letting others (that originally wouldn't have) follow you there too.

and don't take that like christians encourage death.

again i'm not trying to force my believe on you. i'm just explaining it.

  • @PIXLnxt my point is that kids don't have a choice, they haven't got the chance to choose. today's kids still have the power to change tomorrow. of course no sane human being would have chosen to live in despare BUT there's no evidence what so darn ever there's an afterlife which promises all the things religion does.

  • @deathtothemushroom and to your other question, you don't really have to think about it as punishment. you're given a choice in life. you can either join God by doing what he wants you to do or you can join Satan by doing what he wants you to do

When you die you'll go to be with whoever you chose. both sides want you to choose them. personally i'd rather be on the side where i wont be tormented for eternity

a little fun on earth or an eternity of it afterwards. i'll take the one that won't end

  • @PIXLnxt to explain to you and all other christians here I believe in satan just as much as I believe in your god, which is nothing. to me they are just as alive as the roman or norse gods. and to explain myself a bit more, I believe in religious freedom, but it's the whole concept of harrasement, persecution and judgement I don't get. and this doesn't just apply to christianity. if religious people just could leave others alone we wouldn't be having this discussion.

  • @deathtothemushroom im with you on most of your opinions. i strongly dislike the relgious promoting agenda. its all over the radio, on bill boards, tv.... it makes you feel like theyre selling their religion more than just promoting it. your point on harassment was a bit stretched though. only the religious nutt cases take it to that extreme and the vast majority of christian churches dont "act out" in that sense.

  • @deathtothemushroom i gotta say too, its very likely that her music has saved lives. to say that it hasnt would mean that no other songs have ever saved lives. i have a song i listen to for every mood im in and believe it or not alot of people find inspiration and hope in depressing songs. its a way to connect and put things in perspective. shes a better role model than a number of musical artists.

  • @Prymer55 its gotta be said that her music is depressing and thats why i like it .. .but lol the last thing her music would do is save lives

  • @wachm3 of course it has haha. you gotta remember not everyone appreciates music like you do. thats pretty obvious given the countless different characters that make up this population. there arent any depressing songs that leave you feeling positive? you might as well forget about half of rock music and damn near all of country haha

  • She smiles because she has come to terms with what happened to her :) it's the best way to be..

  • The death of her sister change her so it kinda depressing to her her put it in that way.

  • I think some people would love to see her crying istead of smiling during the interview. Especially the interviwer. If she can hand on it smiling, it's really much better. Amy Lee, you're the best and no one can deny.

  • NOT SO SAD

  • I know this sounds shallow, but I would really like to know how she does her hair that way. I have long hair also.

  • "When I had that stroke that makes my mouth lop-sided."

  • Wow she is so young and strong ...

  • German subtitles (y)

  • Damnit her eyes are beautiful

  • her hair is so cool and her eyes are amazing :p shes so dark and beautiful

  • she smiles but i see she sad. i see it in her eyes =( i love Amy. shes wery strong talking about this

  • Would be sad if the interviewer's accent wasn't so fucking annoying. Oh well, Amy Lee for life!

  • SOOO SAD.... HER SIS DIED AT 3 WAHHHHH... I FEEL SOO BAD FOR HER. SHES MY ROLEMODEL

  • @Music5C Caps. Caps,

  • Was she molested??

  • @sweetnspicy92 Nooo lol her sister died when Amy was 6; her sister was only 3

  • @sweetnspicy92 WTF?! Look her up on Wikipedia and read her Early Life

  • daaamnnnn thats a huge bitch thumbs up :D

  • amy ur awsome and u r real tough holding back those tears

  • It's hard to talk about such things. I think that she was laughing because she didn't feel comfortable talking about it; or at least it's something I do when I feel uncomfortable.

  • oh my god she is so young

  • She's so sexy.

  • that moment when laughing is a defense mechanism

I think we can all relate in some way

  • Because after a while you accept that you aren't perfect, and that your life was bad but the best think you can do is keep going and remember that life can go on although you still hurt. You have to smile through the pain. Because if you don't what are you? What can you do with yourself. You can't cry forever. This woman is an inspiration.

  • Doesn't seem sad to me, sounds like everyone's story in this day and age, I love Amy Lee so much, she's my dream woman, but... lose that hair doo (corn rows?) as fast as you can, it's ugly

  • She is such a brave woman.

  • Can't you hear the violins playing your song......... Oh Im so deep and brooding.. meh!. i saw on an interview she said "i think we are different from any band out there".. there's your problem, when you start to think your different from everybody else, you will crack up

  • How is it possible for her to be inside my head, feeling the exact same way as I feel?

  • you're asking why she's smiling? cause shes hurting and trying to cover it up. who are you to question her life? you don't know her. she's a strong person and its obvious in all her work.

  • fuck Josh Hartzler i want that pussy

  • Sometimes it's either smile or cry.

  • o god i wish a fuck her ;] she is so hot :D

  • well, do you know how she can smile when she's trying to explain this? because thats just the one way it really works. it's kind of sarcasm.

  • she's so lovely and amazing person. the only sad thing in this is that we have very few musicians like this these days

  • there was nothing sad about this.

  • for her to be able to chuckle and cover up the pain like that is immense, i feel so bad for her...

  • Boo Hoo...

  • and here she is faking a laugh about it =) <3 such a sweetheart

  • I never lost my sibling or anything like that, but I can asscociate with what she's saying. I've always felt quite a bit older than my age, and people often tell me I look/act older. I don't want to sound big-headed, but when I'm around most 16 year olds I just think "man you're so immature, just grow up!" lol ... I love expressing myself through music, it's such a beautiful and effective way of releasing negative feelings, and it's helped me get over very difficult things.

  • her sister btw, didnt kill herself. she was only 3!!!! sheesh probs accident

  • GUYS! her sister DIED for goodness sake! do an of u realize how sad that is? if any of my bros died i would prob jump of the nearest cliff. most of her songs are for her sister, escpecially hello (really obvious) so just admire the fact that she is STRONG and she didnt cry during the interview because she is in fact the queen of rock and i love her..... always and im sure u all do! (right..?)

  • @XfishoutofwaterbabeX Also she never once sang Hello live.

  • @iTrollThis She sings like you live sometimes though, correct me if I'm wrong but I though that was about her sister

  • @EmilyHubbard139 I'm not sure about Like you,but the first song she wrote about her dead sister was Hello. She has said she can never sing that live, because she will have a nervous breakdown. It is a very personal song to her.

  • hello is not about her sister, its about how she reacted after her sister died as she grew up. like you is how she reacted as an adult. my take :)

  • I feel proud of you Amy .. after all you've been through you're still standing with your head high and willing to go on and not let anyone stop you. I Love you and your success! I love Evanescence!!

  • sAD?

  • @kimberly49538 isn't it sad? do you understand what she talking about?

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot Ok.now I know

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot No, it's not a sad interview. Sure the things that have happened to her may be sad and all but what she is talking about here is just how her childhood experiences affected her own perception of her maturity going into the business. Misleading title.

  • Well, sad for her. To put things into perspective one might want to look to East Africa for an example.

Millions of people growing up and living under traumatic circumstances.

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot a love your nickname a lot... btw great vid..

  • In this short 42 seconds video I have been given great insight to Amy... what she is holding inside her is... a lot of pain.... :ll I've always known but seeing this makes it so blunt.

  • you cab hear her struggle in her voice :( awwe

  • What happened in her past? :(

  • @LadyStarAussie her sister died... Amy was 6 and her sister was 3... and... she wrote about her sister's death few songs...

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot Oohhh yeah! Thank you! <3

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot I'm pretty sure that's what "Hello" is about...

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot Wasn't it that she lost her sister because of her sister doing suicide ?

  • @GreatLeviathen her sister never comitted suicide, her sister was 3 when she died of some illness.

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot WHAAAAAAAT ?! O__O I didn't know... That's so... horrible ! :'(

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot which songs?

  • @angelfrmabov32697 Hello and Like You.

And maybe also The Other Side...

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot Ahh. I see....

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot "Even in death" as well

  • @soumagoth nooope, Even In Death is not about her sister. I'm completely sure.

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot

Not only these songs! : My Immortal, Tourniquet, Lacrymosa. And maybe haunted?!

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot

Ooos! I think Lacrymosa doesn´t belong to it, sorry

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot

Oops! I think Lacrymosa doesn´t belong to them

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot I love Like You, it's sad and I can feel her sorrow when she sings it.

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot I dont think its the other side, i went to see her in concert 9she played it live..she doesnt play Hello/Like You live) and met her, she said its about how love can fight through everything.

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot She performed TOD live so nope, but I think "Swimming Home" is actually about her sister..

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot Why did Amy's sister die?

  • @utapau235 illness..

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot Yes! But i don't think tht The other side is for her

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot for the new you record, i think it's End Of Dream, not the other side. she said the other side it " fun" plus she singing it live... she never sings Hello or Like you. so I guess it's End of Dream.

  • @foreverfree303 Yes, I think this too

  • @foreverfree303 Might be, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's Swimming Home. The lyrics just fit better, and they don't play it live either. But Amy isn't required to have a song about her sister on every album, it's just something she's done so far, so maybe there isn't any song for her. Part of grief is acceptance, and moving on. Sad, and some of us never do it completely, but in order to move forward, it's unfortunately very necessary.

  • @angelfrmabov32697 my immortal

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot

And who knows what else happened in her life.I think that she wouldn´t disclose everything to the public.

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot how did her sister died?

  • @evanscn07 she died from an unidentified illness, we don't know which..

  • @ILoveEvanescenceALot yep like you and hello. I cant listen to them untill my sister turns 4 cuz my sis is 3 and yea u get the pic

  • Where can I find the whole interview? =)

  • @TheVendela97 umm.. here: youtube(.)com(/)watch?v=LGgXSCo0pn4

  • I know EXACTLY how she feels. Lost my sister when I was 7. She was 2 1/2. We were so close than ripped apart savagely. I love you Amy and stay strong.

  • that look in her eyes kills me

  • Awww i want to hug her.. I know what she is talking about, because i feel like i need to grow up faster since my dad left when i was little. I feel like im older and i want to be older. I know alittle how she feels. I cant believe she didnt cry...so strong.

  • @carolynsdreamer ---hi . do you know what amy is talking about in this video? what is that she went through?

  • @vlindervvv Yes. She lost her sister and just went through alot. Is that what you were looking for?

  • she is very strong to tell people about her past

and it's very powerful that she not cried on this interview

  • @aprilevilgirl yeah.. her laugh doesn't real...

  • @aprilevilgirl she looked like she was really trying hard not to cry.
