  • oooh, a katana!

  • You have not got the right footwork.

  • shows promise

  • I remember Master Ishido would perform all his Iaido kata his way, but was asked to conform to the ZNKR way if he wished to achive his 6th dan. Which he did by spending three years practice. Once the grading was over the ZNKR grading panel asked him to perform the forms his way. Also His father waould perform O chiburi very diffrently from the standard way. What w must all remember is its the practice that is important, and forget style

  • I have just been reading through all these comments. What people who practice an Oriental martial art forget is there is more than one way. The form may be called Mae, but the stylistic approach to the form will vary from style to style and from instructor to instructor within a style. .

  • oh,wow,your incredible,you never freak out,its admirable of you,never fight,allways talk,continues like that n_n

    yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

    i love you,really! o.o

    XD Bye-Bee! n//n :D

  • He´s good ^^

  • uh what ?

  • Awesome, really nice work ;)

  • Nice work! If it would be possible, could you make the next video during the daytime? The sunlight from the windows would certainly make it much brighter although you might have to film the other way. It just had a dark feeling about it. Cheers

  • yea, it was at the end of the training session, and the dark feeling... thats cos he's evil!

  • lol, oh my. No he is not evil :-) Just wanted the chance to see his practice in better lighting. Thanks again

  • very well? sloppy, in a hurry and with many minor mistakes. He should learn how to sit properly, how to do a proper nukitsuke and kirioroshi (and the transition between them), the o-chiburi was not good, there was no saya-biki in his noto, nothing special

  • how we sit may be differently to how you do, and how we sheath can vary greatly it depends on style, perhaps you should make a video to show how YOU do it, the nukitsuke is excellent and follows straight around the horrisontal line.

  • You got it wrong =] I'm not saying that I do it better, because it is not true I guess. I'm practicing Iaido olny for 7 months so I probably do seitei much worse, I'm just saying what I was told the forms should look like. Couple of weeks ago I trained for 3 days under Wim van Mourik sensei (5 dan Iaido) and I must say, that his Mae was diffirent in many technical issues, this is why I started to "correct" you, although I don't have the right to do it.

  • Ofcourse not, the sensei above is also a 5th Dan in Budo-ryu, we sheath differently to many styles as they often drag the whole blade across the opening, while we tend to do it quickly and less pronounced.

  • You must be joking... 5th Dan in what?Budo-Ryu? What the hell is it? Could you explain me when it was formed, what is budo-ryu's history? There is no martial art called budo-ryu. And you get Dan grades in martial arts, don't you?

  • Surely, BR was founder in 1958 by Dai-Hanshi Richars Salmon, he combined his studies after training under Gogen Yamaguchi, MORIHEI UESHIBA (you might not of hear of that one, since you obv havent heard of googling Budo-Ryu), and Fugiwara, among others. He did an in depth study of each and combined different aspects. Hence Budokan, being the house of martial arts, as we do a join of them. I suggest you at least look up what you don't know before proclaiming it false, want help?

  • 居合腰和血振作的都還有進步的空間,殘心不夠。

  • very good although perhaps you do the yoko chiburi a bit too fast. cheers

  • Good technique and form. Very nice.

  • This is Iaido, not Aikido.

It is impossible do pratice with Aikido alone :)

  • Yes I know, its in the keywords iaido, I just copied the main keywords I used to have :P

  • There, that a better name, cheers

  • Haha I just realised your comment, It's not impossible, you can practise Body Movement on your own ;)

  • we do that kata a bit diferently here

  • I know, there's lots of different styles, what style do you do?

  • i dont do iaido i do kendo. so i dont know what our form would be called

  • yh I saw on your profile... don't they have different styles of kendo then?

  • well theres diferent kamae, like nito ryu, and jodan ryu

  • yea, we have all that too, but there's different types of martial arts, like... shotokan karate and goju ryu karate :D thats what i meant but dont worry :D

  • ok lol :)

  • wow, you really put such a persuasive argument that if you're to go by then i pray your sensei isnt like you...

  • Is that Tony Soprano?

  • OH! I didn't know who you were talking about, I looked for a fighter but then I guessed Sopranos...lol kinda similar :/ I'll have to tell him that! XD

  • we only learn tendoryu.. and I think thats the only right way xD

  • Then you think very simply. There is no 'one', right way.

  • @KonohaBeastRockLee There is no right way!

  • We are Budokan style, meaning House of Martial-Arts, we study aikido, iaido and karate.

  • They were the ones that people could mostly get their hands on at the time, although I suppose it depends on the style, because I know Aikido practitioners that use Tonfa and Nunchukas...but they aren't really Aikido, they use them o make it interesting.

  • im new to aikido for about 4 months now can you please explain to me why the katana bo and jo staff are the only officialy aikido weapons used or is it just their the only ones morhei uesheba used or do they use more

  • I suppose it does depend on the style, however, these are the most reliable and effective. They were also the most available at that time (speaking about the bo and jo staff).

  • I like what you're doing here. Traditional, dignified, etc. Without music and disco lights.

  • Thanks, it is quite a traditional style.

  • Isn't this "Muso Shinden Ryu" ?

  • Well, it depends what style you do, this is just Mai to us. lol, but I'm sure it must have a longer name! lol

  • This is Mai for the Seitei Kata, Alot of school practice this because of the ZNKR, Mainly Muso Shinden and Muso Jikiden Eishen *I think I spelt that wrong* practice this. I'm although sure many other style's practice the Seitei set as well.

  • Yup! Haha!

  • I know this is Akido, although I would like to know the traditional Ryu of you are studying is called. I study under Muso Shinden and have been for almost a year and a half.

  • We are a Budokan Ryu....it does not have Ryu in the title like Wado-ryu or others like that because it mean 'hall Of martial arts'. While Ryu means a 'school' (a disciplne), or so I believe.

  • It could also be Mae from Seitei Gata. Danzaki Sensei chaired the board that developed the original 7 forms, he was a Shinden exponent and so a fair amount of Muso Shinden was incorporated into Seitei.

  • Yes, no 'also' because it IS Mae from the Seitei Gata.

  • Very nice Shohat-To. Your Chiburi to Noto is better then mind LOL.

  • *mine

  • Lol, this is done by my sensei with 50 years plus practice though, we have different names for it though, as do most styles. But many thanks.
