  • Now I know that It was the Japanese people created Transformers

  • It's hard to believe that these are the founding fathers of the TF's. I love the music as much as the toys itself. It says "I am your Father" to the G1 TFs.

  • shouldn't devastator be destroying bridges?

  • What's so special? Just a G1 Devastator with a different colour scheme...

  • @ian1231100 True, different color scheme, but there really wasn't any story behind the Diaclones. When Hasbro bought the disturbution rights it became the Transformers as we know it.

  • the seventies had better toys

  • To recreate this look, merely get one knockoff orange set and one yellow set and mix the parts up. Sounds like fun, actually and you have two giant robos that are yellow and orange!

  • Devastator goes psychedelic. :)

    That's the joke.

  • Who would have thought that 0:20 would have led to two gangsta TFs being eaten by a large devastating mouth with Megan Fox along side to boost movie sales?

  • If Transformers toy commercials were like this back in the day, I would have had my first orgasm at like the age of 5.

  • is there a Diaclone cartoon?

i most def need to watch it!

  • @NitroNate6 Yea It's called "Transformers G1"! xD

  • In 0:10 you can hear the Autobot-lasers from the G1-cartoon. Funny.

  • @pessie83 meow... yes. that Laser sound effect came from Star Wars i think.

and again. where are those Waruders? and do they REALLY use strafing flyers meow?

  • ever the commercial are better in japan.

  • This Was before G1 constructicons invaded the G1 toyline!

  • I had a couple of these guys, is this devastator?

I'm confused how the Diaclone and Transformers are connected.

  • Hasbro bought the Diaclone toys from Takara, and made them into the toys we all know and love, The Transformers, and thats how its connected, their the same thing (At least the G1 toys). And, yes, that is Devastator. Also the most of the Transformers toys are recolors of Diaclone toys.

  • @DeathSlayer2 Hasbro got the license for the Diaclone toys, Gave them names and a story, and merketed them as Transformers.

  • The guy who is linking this video to his ebay auction needs to realize his Diaclone set is a knockoff.

  • He would have made a great rival for Devastator! (Not to say the Dinobots didn't give him a run for his money, which they certainly did!)

  • They call them "construction robo". We call them CONSTRUCTICON!

  • @PDS1990

And they renamed them "Buildrons" and "Devastar" for its gestalt when it comes to Transformers

I love the ad's sound effect, this ad is much an art when compared to Dinobots VS Buildrons (Jap TF ad) which the ads looks very rushed.

There were even Micromaster constructicons (released much later) come with two different colour schemes, Diaclone colours for Autobots, and Devastor colours for Decepticons

  • they should have had the dinobots rival against the insecticons, and have raiden, or whatever the americans would have renamed him, to fight devastator, just like how Menasor maintains a rivalry against Superion, and Bruticus against Defensor.

  • They are the same quality both are diecast metal/Plastic, the only thing with the Diaclone lines was that they came with little operators that's why some of the original TF toys had little cockpits.

Diaclone wasn't a chinse toy it was Japanese it dates back to the 70's all the toys where quality made that's one reason they are still around today.

Better than some of the stuff hasbro is currently puting out.

  • What's Diaclone? Is that a brand?

  • It's the toyline that hasbro bought the rights to destribute and market in the U.S. they repainted them and marketed them as Transformers.

  • so quality wise are they the same? Or the Japanese ones are better? I find the current TF toys from China are crap. The gaps are huge, paints are awful and the plastic looks like knock offs.

  • Had no idea Raiden was from Diaclone. Shame on me =^_^=

  • yep the Japanese introduced Raiden into their Japanese Headmasters series and still maintained the rivalry between the Trainbots and Constructicons

  • Cool. I wonder who else's mould was based on a diaclone design...

  • pretty much every G1 transformer except perceptor, megatron, soundwave, blaster from Microman series

omega supreme, shockwave, Jetfire - borrowed from other toy lines

the only other one I remember was Browning in Transformers Supergodmaster force used from Microman series

  • The Deluxe Insecticons were also borrowed from Bandai

  • @powerslide13

Deluxe Insecticons were originally from Takatoku before Bandai bought them out.

    -R78

  • gotta love the Japanese stop motion and effects

  • The original Transformers....

    Like it.

  • I bought a Diaclone Construction Robo giftset Saturday. It is real and dead mint. One of the coolest Diaclones period.

  • actually.....transformers are all recolored diaclone. lol diaclone came first.

  • yup same with microman

  • @CaptainComicbook yea kinda explains y the toys never matched up with their cartoon forms, like visors, head designs, etc..

  • @Lyger26

Is this why alot of the toys were based on 70s cars and not 80s cars?

  • @alterbr33d More than likely since this came out first..

  • You dont know anything about transformers then. Diaclone was a 70s series which was later combined by america with a few other toylines and turned into transformers. all the Season 1 and 2 transformers were recolours of other toylines, plus a few later ones as well.

  • Devastator LIVES!

  • DIA ..... clone!

always cracks me up how its said in the ads xD

  • XDD But I like it.

  • Impressive commercial. Thanks for uploading.

  • Were there good and evil Diaclones (like in Transformers) or were they just a toy series that didn't have a show based on them that you just bought and used together like they were on the same side or what? Thanks for posting these! I love Takara!

  • Diaclone was a toy line, Hasbro bought Diaclone and Microman for create Transformers.

  • Ah, I see. Thank you. I think I like the good versus evil dynamic in Transformers better than just a plain old toy line. I do wish Hasbro had brought the little men that fit into the recessions in the toys somehow.

  • All the Diaclone bots are part of an army of drones, you used them as you liked although most of them were good guys which basicly helped prevent accidents in the commercials.

  • The Diaclones fought the Warudaros. The only Waruda we got were the insecticons.

  • So Devestator is really a Robot of justice?

  • Another difference is on some, they have the words "Diaclone Adventure World" on the stickers.

  • Also, the gestalt pieces(parts to connect to make Devastator) are different colors than the TF version.

  • The Diaclone version of Devastator, The stickers are the same as his G1 counterpart, the differences would be the colors and the Decepticon symbol in the Hasbro version.
