  • than stop making shit

  • Reagan put profits before country.

  • In This Clip, From 4:41 To 4:53, It Was ABC News' Nightline Video Promo For Thursday Night, June 20, 1985.

  • I think the dems were right on this issue

  • <3 Free trade

  • I didn't know Reagan was a free marketer. I thought it started with Clinton and NAFTA. Boy, was I wrong. Both parties are sellouts.

  • @iamgabrielf Daddy Bush would have signed nafta the only canidates in 1992 who were oppsoed to NAFTA and GATT were Buchanan in the Primaries and H. Ross Perot.

  • @upyr1 Perot was a good guy.

  • China practices economic protectionism and we should give them and other protectionist countries a taste of their own medicine. The rich business owners forget that it is their workers who are ultimately their customers. If they lay off all their employees to outsource manufacturing jobs to countries with no labor laws they are eliminating the people who will buy their goods. Consumer debt allowed the bubble to continue for several decades. Consumers have exhausted their debt limits.

  • Reagan and the Republicunts sold out the American Middle Class 30 years ago. The economic mess we are in is a direct result of horrible trade policy, union busting, and tax cuts that did nothing other than make the super wealthy even wealthier over time. The only way to protect middle class jobs and a decent standard of living is tariffs against countries who aren't burdened by labor standards, private health care costs, and environmental regulations.

  • I wouldn;t have thought so much economic ignorance could fit in one post. Bravo! Unions are an economic drag (by more than $50 trillion according to a sound study), tax cuts that helped lead to a 20 year expansion (interrupted only by th invasion of Kuwait); protectionism has NEVER in history benefited an economy and the myth of the stagnating middle class is long debunked (real compensation and real per capita income rising at all income levels). And the current crisis is government caused.

  • @FletchforFreedom Unions were the quick fix to an 18th century problem. If Obama's so much about change, why doesn't he reform the unions from top to bottom and let the cropping-up of funds cease?

I think we know the answer to that...

  • Careful. Unions never fixed anything. Essentially all of the wonders of unions have been fairy tales (and you won't find a stronger advocate of freedom of association than me).

Why doesn't he attack a major constituency and slit his own fund-raisung throat? I -- I -- I really never gave it any thought. Do you mean he might be ... in their pocket?!?!? Say it isn't so!

  • @FletchforFreedom You are a useful idiot of the moneyed class. Could you please be more vague and ambiguous in your unsupported lie-ridden conclusions. Why don't you take your Koch brother funded postings and go and suck milton friedman's rotting dick!

  • Thank you for demonstrating the intellectual capacity of the Left. Given your ad hominem attacks, insults and reliance on profanity an explanation of the research demonstrating that unions have cost the US economy more than $50 trillion dollars or that capitalism, not unions, brought child labor to a virtual end. In fact, there’s little evidence that you could grasp any economic concepts on your way to providing clients with incompetent representation appeals. Bravo.

  • The year I started high school. I watched this very newscast. Peter Jennings was always so NICE to look at:)

  • No.

  • Reagan - what an awful era. Thanks for the upload.

  • Yeah, saving our economy from total collapse . . . how awful!!!

  • @cmb6969 personaly I think both sides had half the issue of economics right.

Reagan was right on cutting income and capital gaines while the Dems were right about tarrifs. The money that may have been saved due to cheap labour will be spent later in defecit spending a debt no one wants to buy and an under class that is demanding social programs to survive.
