The ice around the crease is always messed up, goalies do that on purpose. They always scratch up the ice before each period. Patrik Stefan is the biggest draft bust in the history of the NHL, there's no denying that. Canucks got the steal in that draft.

No reason to skate that far in and shift the puck to your backhand at the last second. A bad bounce, but a bad bounce that never happens if he simply slides the puck in as soon as possible. Anyone who'd miss the net from around ten feet in from the blueline shouldn't be in the NHL. Why did he skate in so far and deke the invisible goalie? Actually, what I think folks are amazed at, is the fact that for some reason he stickhandled the puck to his backhand at the last second. Why? There was no goalie. No one to beat. All he had to do was slide the puck in. I can see skating a few strides closer to the goal to make sure of it, but he went right in to the crease and shifted the puck. It was a crazy bounce, but why do what he did? Not criticizing your post. Just trying to think of why everyone is being so hard on him.
