As for Naoto, he simply gets caught in the middle while trying to act like an adult. In the end Naoto some what 'finds' himself and realizes things about his life that, without Haruko, he would have never known about, especially his youth. However, in doing so Haruko loses Atmosk and her entire search is back at square one. -Sigh- Yep.

It's over because unlike the manga where Naota gets a vespa at the end to try and chase Haruko with in the anime he just moves on with life now learned the lessons that he did. (that you need multiple viewings to notice) Then again a lot of things happened in the anime that were different than the manga. Another season would not be good because it would mean a hashed,made from nowhere story.
