And it Pissed the Japps off and they started doing bonzai charges and sucide. This one band of troops truly saved us!

He passed away more than 14 yrs ago as an honorable WW2 vet. Yet he has NEVER left my side. And he knows what I mean. Every night I go to sleep he is there watching over me. I see him in my dreams. Unfortunately what Johnny illustrates in this song happened far too often and he brought into the light what had been ignored-the incredible sacrifices of native troops for a country that had stolen their land and almost destroyed hundreds of tribes with disease and warfare and a nation that refused to recognize this. Yes, I am of native descent and very proud of it. Thank you Johnny Cash for your work to help native peoples.

My father was there and he knew Ira.He was one of the 27 who came back down.He is gone now,but I'm very proud of him.We are loosing them every day.He was a great and quiet man and I still miss him terribly.

FDR did all he could for Great Britain and the allies without going to war until Pearl Harbor. My father and grandfather sailed with those convoys from Halifax Harbour

@ZAGGLETON Nothing wrong w/ speaking German, here in Central PA many people know some PA German to 1 extant, which is an altered dialect of German. I learned it on my own w/ some help from friends in Halle an Der Salle. Alot of people also don't know, English started as a Germanic language & imported words from other languages.

@aldichiara Actually Italy had fallen to the allies in 1943, Iwo Jima was in 1945. But that doesn't necessarily mean that we'd be speaking German or Japanese if they had won. The only thing it would have meant is the defeat of the allies.
