I really like your style of explination, though the cam getting busted kinda threw me off. Lol do you have another video for the dodge ram clutch replacement im a student in aviation maintenance so I understand advanced technology quite a bit but have no clue about a clutch In my truck! lol im stuck with min tools in a parking lot by my self. Already have the clutch lol but no $ for mechanic im recently disabeled. But am only 28 so any ideas or insight on the path of leastl resistance?
I hope you can help me, I've hade my transmission rebuilt , any replaced my computer on my 1999 dodge Durango 4x4 but now it doesn't want to shift right could you please tell me what could be causing this thanks!
Hi I was wondering if a mazda b4000 2wd would be just as easy as the dodge 1500 was it seemed to be fairly straight forward as I'm doing it my self, I never done one before lol
@g8erdone Should be easier & have lighter parts. Actually, if you have a 4.0L Ford in your Mazda, the engine is bigger than the 3.7L in this Dodge. Anyway, that is a pretty straight forward job. Sometimes the hardest part is the quick connect hose off the slave cylinder. Jump on a tool truck & tell them you need the Ford tool to disconnect hydraulic clutch lines. If not available, use 2 screwdrivers & press the white plastic sleeve towards the trans. twist & pull at the same time.
Thanks for an informative and professional video of the clutch replacement. It will surely help as I am looking forward to the same job very soon (on the same type of truck). I will be checking out your other videos!
i just did a clutch on my ford ranger now the transmition is back in but the driveshaft wont line up it is hitting the gas tank. what do you think i did wrong?
@stihlman44 Is the transmission crooked? If you put the trans mount in wrong, or in a wrong hole, the back of the trans would be in the wrong spot & possibly cause that.
@miquelinito I don't know what condition it's in, or if it's compatible with yours, but I'll take what I can get. If you want to make an offer, we can find out what shipping would be across the country-probably more than it's worth.
hey hi, so i have a toyota 4runner and i wanna change the transmission to a manual transmission. is it worth it to do it? i mean cuzz i dont wanna mess up my car!!! so wht do you think? thank u!!!
@miquelinito It's a lot of work. You have to replace the shifter, transmission, clutch pedal, linkage or slave & master cylinders, flywheel, etc. You may have to replace the crossmember, trans mount, driveshaft, & other parts. I don't know what year your 4Runner is or how far from GA you are, but I have an '86 Toyota 4x4 truck that I'm parting out, if you're interested.
hey i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with a nv3500 trans and lastnite i was leaven and i went to put it in 3rd and when i did it didnt move so i stopd and when i did that i was unable to put it in any gearand my friend had to come pull me and when i out it in neutral my tires was lock up but when i puch the clutch in they tires was free wat do u thank it is the clutch ot trans thanks.

@oversized1 I am not an expert but I know your transmission is broken , when u push the clutch pedal and the tires going free that mean your clutch is OK
@roadragecustoms - not a problem with my rear diff. the truck drives in 2, but not for long. after removing my drive shaft, I noticed the rear extension housing was cracked, and saw a piece of a lock ring or something in the housing that'll need to be replaced too. I ordered the service manual for my truck to see what the metal ring is and where it goes. I will replace those parts, fill the transfer case fluid level and see if that helps with the problem.
I'm about to attempt this on a '95 Ram Cummins. When I drive the truck a couple of blocks, it slips out of gear (while engaged) I can shift into any gear and the truck will not move. I have to actually place in 4-hi or 4-low, I hear an audible clank, then I can drive a couple more blocks. Since I really don't know what is causing the issue, I will start with the clutch, give that a go, if problem continues, tranny.. Has anyone experienced something similar to what I've mentioned?
@shizzlistic If your truck won't move in two wheel, but will in 4 wheel, you may have a problem with the rear differential. Block the wheels on level ground. Put trans in neutral. Grab the rear drive shaft near the rear U joint. See if it rotates or moves excessively without the wheels moving. If so the problem is in the differential.
I definitely don't have the capability to do this on my own. i have the same truck shown in video. What would it cost to have a shop replace it for me?

I have a dodge 2001 ram, has a similar set up, I change the clutch and followed the same procedure putting it back. However, I can not put the truck into any gear when the truck is running. When it is off, I can take it to a gear and start the truck. After a few tries of doing it, the truck started taking off as soon as I started the truck and again the truck does not go into any gear. Need help trying to fix this problem
That sounds like a hydraulic problem. Check the interior side of the firewall around the clutch master cylinder for brake fluid leakage. Also check around the slave cylinder. If neither of them show signs of leakage and everything is assembled correctly, you should be able to bleed the system.
great vids, thanks, I have a 90 chevy 1500 4.3 ,5 speed, I had a problem shifting into gear , and I replaced the clutch, this did not solve it so I replace the slave, master and hydralic line, had the hardest time bleeding it , when I finally got a firm pedal, it still did not shift. I think I have to take the tranny back out ?? I broke the clutch fork retaining ring. and maybe the fork is mispositioned? or maybe bent a pressure plate finger on installation? Please do you have any advice? thanks
Thanks for the comment / questions. One thing you can try is this: Put it in first gear with engine off. Start the engine & don't lift off the clutch pedal. Once the RPMs stabilize, pull the shifter out of gear into neutral. If the RPMs increase, you have an issue with the clutch not fully disengaging. This could be due to hydraulic slave & master issue (including air in system) or the fork in the wrong position. Let me know if you need more help.
Yes, it's POSSIBLE. It won't be easy. You don't have a clutch pedal, clutch master, clutch slave, hose & line, shifter, hole in the floor for the shifter, a flywheel, etc. Some vehicles have different crankshafts for manual trans vs auto trans. Wrong crank on these = no place to put pilot bearing. Some vehicles have different driveshafts for man / auto. Some speed sensors, harnesses, & PCMs are different. It is possible, but it may be cheaper to sell it & buy a manual equipped truck.
thanks for the video, i have a 2002 dodge ram and i want to do it. they want to charge me $1800 for fix it, i dont know what happened is stuck in fifth gear agay thanks for the video

@oversized1 Sounds like an internal transmission problem. If it rolls with the clutch in & not with it released, clutch is still working.
