  • Nice work Rip!

  • So honest! ... Shocking? ... For some, maybe. For those who do not want to see ...

Thank you for your courage to show it as it is. Sometimes ugly, sometimes disgusting ... but always real!

  • @Pugacevv ~ oh ~ how I wish to speak your language! Tried to help myself with a little dictionary ~ but can't find in it all the words you used. However I still think I received your message right ;o) A very friendly Hello in solidarity ~ loving art as it is meant to be.

    Greetings from Canada, Karin

  • @mmbmbmbmb Dear Karin, my message says: " Hello, sorry for the delay. I do not think it's brave when it comes to art in an absolute sense . This art can lead to endless sensations, which are then customized . But whatever that conjures visions , we must seek the answers within us. The art helps us to live, to think, to inquire into one's psyche (soul), et cetera ..Thanks for the comment, and a more than warm greeting.." . I renew my greetings, and I add a hug, a hug from Italy .

    Walter

  • @Pugacevv ~ and right now, I thank you so much for your translation ~ and ~ I can NOT agree with you more!!! Let me hug you right back :o)

    Love , Karin from Canada

  • Why did he not capture Kate Moss's real face?

  • what this fascination with wads of flesh?

  • Picasso was a great artist.

    Freud was an Illustrator.

He also talked trash about better artists like Man Ray and Picasso.

"he remembers Picasso as “absolutely poisonous”, Man Ray as “noisy and vulgar”, and German expressionist Max Ernst as a “heavy and stiff” dinner companion. "

What insight! No wonder his work is so superficial. About as metaphysical as a clogged drain.

  • @Pugacevv

I did live in Italy when I was 10 for 2 years but alas my Italian is not good. So, seeing you write "grande Freud" I'm guessing you don't agree with me.

My prediction is that the "grande Freud" will go down in history as an unimportant painter...and certainly not as interesting or important as Klimt, Schiele, Munch, Hopper, Rothko, Magritte, Kahlo, O'Keefe, Picasso, Man Ray, Modigliani, Matisse, Klee, DeChirico, and David Hockney....all painters of the 20th Century.

  • @Rexicano And of course my dear friend who does not agree with you. All painters, you mention, (it is unnecessary to twentieth century date them) know them just fine. Reobserved observed and in many exhibitions in Venice (where I live), Rome, Paris and more. You are a sad prophet of Freud's art. You're not in possession of the centuries of this "magician".

  • @Pugacevv

That last sentence does not make any sense...and " Every painting is what it is." is very trite. Every tomato is what it is...really!

As far as influence...I really doubt that—I see very few painters doing the sort of ugly desperate work he does. His work is a step backwards.......and why would anyone waste their time painting the same ugly works over and over...when a camera captures realism better. I could go to a Retirement Home and shoot old people nude and get the same results.

  • @Rexicano Sure, this is hackwork, however, regarding a separate issue, a camera does not neccesarily capture realism better. A photograph is not a drawing or a painting, and the two can capture a range of detail that even surpasses the photograph, depending upon the artist's ability. Photorealism, or Hyper-Realism, or whatever you wish to call it, offers many examples of this, the quality, again, dependent upon the artist's ability.

    Walter

  • @Rexicano ..Freud has always been held outside the main currents of the twentieth century, remaining tied to the figurative, remaining one of the most influential painters of the past half century: his work resists any categorization. His approach does not qualify in terms of "style" or "way" because it has to do with the growth of consciousness and individual character. Every painting is what it is.

  • @Pugacevv "What I ask of a painting?" Freud wrote: "I ask him to astonish, disturb, seduce, convince." Here it is considered one of the greatest realist painter.

    Bhà

  • bel video

  • @ymgid Grazie, buona domenica.

    Gracias.

  • heaven on earth.

  • danke elisabeth

Siamo tutti Bellissimi esseri Umani. ...è Stupendo, grazie Signor Pugacevv
