The complimentary (not matching) words give Mr. Bean a chance to quip from non-matches. But people missed the prizes. And why would they say no to the "promotional consideration"?
This pilot just didn't fit well together - the music was great and it didn't gel with the set, the words didn't go good together and was fairly vague, Orson Bean was out of his element as a host, etc. He even didn't understand the last puzzle at all - I think that he was just rushing to get through it all. He had very little stage presence around him.
An interesting juxtposition -- cash during the main game and prizes in the bonus game. And I agree, Orson calling out the prizes during the bonus round made it more difficult than it needs to be.
That set was horrible!

was this a pilot for syndication or NBC?

@jwgreek8606 Wikipedia says it was for syndication, NBC allowed Goodson to try this because he wanted something to pair Kennedy TPIR with.

I think it looked like Orson was working too hard. It just doesn't work.

The ticking sound was later used for "Now You See It '89".

Orson did a good job hosting. He shouldn't have said the words as she called out the numbers, found it distracting, especially if under the timer.

Yes, I liked the unintentional humor from the mismatches. It's similar to the unintentional humor on "Eye Guess".

Gee! Orson was hinting at the fact that this was a pilot!

I noticed it too...pretty rare when they acknowledge it's a pilot!
No offense to Orson, but if the pilot had sold looking like this, I doubt it would've got "super ratings". ;)

The bonus round did not execute.

I agree. The bonus bound should've been a two-parter...matching the objects and solving the rebus.
