  • so you move the knee to start the kinetic chain which is when the hips then follow through as well as the rest of the body such as the pivot of the feet, arms, and uppper body?

  • @joetheazl If I'm understanding you correctly, yes. Your lower body starts the motion, the upper just carries out what the lower busy has already started.

  • thank you very much!

  • THANK YOU- very informative! you have great explosive power! i would love to see more videos on how to get explosive like that.. thank you very much

  • @eineganzeflasche thanks for the feedback, ok I'll get to working on some more videos!

  • And we meet Rocky again. Nice vid

  • I can see that his right pec is alot bigger than his left ?

  • @L4zyVi3t well, my left nut is lower than my right.

  • Great video....If I may add something to this..While throwing a left hook pivoting your foot is a good way to get more power in your hook. This is great for boxing. In MMA and kick boxing this is a bad idea since this will leave yourself susceptible to getting dropped by a leg kick. So for guys in MMA try not to pivot that foot.

  • @ttubeheadd Drill your defense like crazy. Get a friend and drill your defenses to to punches at slow speed and light contact till your defense is really good and also your comfort able with contact etc

  • thats a very good lesson but still, this is all theory, if you get a good punch to the face you will forgett everything and start cutting loose, so my question is how can i keep calm and focused ??

  • @ttubeheadd Practice. Sparring and getting punches is the only way you're going to learn how to be calm while you're getting hit and trying to hit back. These videos will give you the skills you need to win a fight and learn how to defend yourself. But if you want to learn how to be calm and focused during a fight, you have to get in the ring and spar.

  • @ttubeheadd : you need to burn this into your ROM by doing it all over again.

  • I wish you had lost the shirt and had a LIVE person to punch !!!!!!

  • very good man very helped me !!! keep it up good work im looking forward your next video :)

  • Hi there man, just started boxing a couple months ago, and the hook always gives me headaches. Answer this one for me please. So, what you are saying is like the arm should follow the hip and the shoulder, kinda like the tip of a whip? Meaning those two are most of the driving force of the hook? I apologize in advance if my writting seems odd, english is not my native language. Greetings from argentina!

  • @JusticeGunblade Yes. Keep your arm/elbow firm as well. You don't want to extend your arm too far as it will take away from the punch. But lead with your hips/shoulders. I have family in Argentina, will get there some day. I've heard great things! Good luck with the boxing.

  • @ChadHowseFitness Thank you for the quick response Chad, your videos are great, I've shared them with most of my friends, your way of explaining things its just too detailed to not understand, I hope you consider to be a coach someday, you could make champions, no doubt about it. Kind of a surprise to hear you have family here, and yes, overall its a great country to live, im proud of it, you gotta come some day. Thanks and good luck to you too.

  • @JusticeGunblade Thank You! I appreciate it man. Glad you're liking the videos.

  • Cheers dude, having problems at the boxing gym as I have my first fight coming up and after watching your videos i've become more confident in my technique. Thanks heaps bro.

  • @james27unasa glad to hear I can help man. Good luck with your first fight!

  • @ChadHowseFitness hey man what do you think is more important to improve your endurance/conditioning for boxing long distance running or like 30 second intervals at a high intensity? i know it's good to both but what do you think is more helpful? thanks

  • @codeman95291 long runs are necessary for boxing, partially for endurance, but also to stay loose. But when in a fight do you go at a jogging pace? Never. It's always bursts of action, the very small breaks, then bursts of action again which is why I like sprints and high intensity training for fighting more than I like slower, longer training. There has to be some progression though, always drop your rest periods & increase your sprint durations.

  • @ChadHowseFitness yeah that's what i thought because boxing is more anaerobic then aerobic idk why everyone i know says long distance running is more effective

  • @codeman95291 Hey I currently am in training i am not pro yet but my trainer is one of the top up and coming young trainers around but to get to my point anyway i agree with what Chad said i just wanted to tell you what one of the things i do during my road work is i go running in the park and i count trees every 15th tree i will sprint for 20 trees then back to normal pace till another 15 etc etc it helps your body/breathing get adjusted to the stop and go pace of a fight hope it helped

  • @MrMsiegel alright thanks ill give that a try

  • @MrMsiegel That's a great drill! Another thing fighters should be doing that I don't talk about a lot, is shadowboxing while you're jogging. It'll create more lactic acid and more pressure on the lungs. Give that a shot next time you go for a jog.

  • good explications.

  • thanks for the tutorial! I can do the uppercut now :D

  • just wondering what your boxing backgound is? what type of training?

  • @almeidadave1 I fought for a couple years under an awesome trainer who taught me a lot.

  • dam u good..

  • when you do the uppercut, its better in my opinion, to keep your back foot on the floor almost flat unless you're fighting with someone who is much taller than you.

Also, when you do a hook, it goes through. In other words, imagine you kinda wanna land an elbow.

Freddie Roach says the same thing.

good video, keep up the good work.

  • @Golouschin I disagree, the only time I keep my back foot on the ground when throwing an uppercut is if I'm in really tight. I don't think you generate enough power otherwise. Also the thing you said about throwing a hook counts for all strikes really, you should always be effectively aiming behind your target.

  • @Naffini Like i said it's my thing..for me, if an opponent is near my height then no difference....we're all different.

I agree about aiming behind your target :) just wanted to throw in my 5 cents.

  • @Golouschin Yeah I agree, there's a certain amount of figuring out what works for you. Not everything has to be what some would consider perfect technique to be effective. In my opinion anyway, for instance I get a lot of flack because most of the time I don't turn my hooks over. Especially with the right hand, but I seem to land faster and cleaner that way.

  • @Naffini same here actually, especially during hard sparings

  • @Golouschin *sparrings

  • @Naffini *sparrings

  • Good vid as allways

  • quick someone show this video to a wing chun guy, so they can stop wasting their time!

  • thank you for your videos

theyre inspiring me to take classes

keep up the good work :D

  • @VentureFront great to hear - thanks for the comment!

  • really cool video :D

    greetings from germany :)

  • very nice and detailed! thanks!

  • You do a great job of explaining the anatomy of each strike, starting with what leads it and what is actually moving. Most people see a hook as an arm movement, when you've clearly explained it comes from your hips and back, which is very important.

Subscribing to you has been the most enjoyable experience I've had subscribing to anyone on youtube.

  • @FoxtrotNinja thanks for the complement, means a lot!

  • @FoxtrotNinja Great to hear man, thanks!
