Wow awesome sight although deciding not to go diving because of this is like deciding not to cross the road because a superbike just passed lol seriously unless you grab them these things are harmless and very cool to see how thwy hunt in packs!
If I were you I'd have grabbed one by the tail when they were almost beached,take a pic and then release it back to have his meal....very very cool....I really really wanna go to maldives now!!!!

Thanks! This was on a small island on the Maldives. Somewhere near Male, the capital. I actually wanted to go diving when I suddenly saw that school of sharks swimming towards me...

I have been to the Maldives and seen loads of these little guys.
They swim right on the beach but normally only in threes or fours.
If you get in the water near them they get afraid and swim away.
No threat to humans at all.
If you kill one ,i think their is a $1000.00 fine.
