Rach 3 is definitely one of the hardest to play both in terms of techniques and the levels of details in expressions. But the movie mostly focuses on the first movement, I think the hardest movement is the last movement. The 2nd movement is also difficult.
@TheAkelei I think those Etudes are hard to play. I also had much trouble with the Balade no.1 (especially with the coda ) but that depends on your technique skills. Actually music pieces from Debussy for example are more difficult although there´re less notes. Sorry for my bad english.
Did somebody here ever played the 3rd Concerto from Rachmaninov?
@SushantBhargav no, you need to love the instrument, music, and have common sense to understand technique... i ve been told i have great talent in the piano, and i reply, what is talent if not subconscient understanding of somethin? so it's all about how close to the essence of something you get ;)
interesting that this is the most violent conversation i've ever read in my 4 years on youtube and it has nothing to do with slipnot, disturbed, korn, marilyn manson, etc..who would have thought

@handycappo .. Oh Thank you for the correction! For some reason I thought Ben was in Shine but he's not. BooBoo! I meant Noah Taylor. SORRY Noah!! Awesome performance. One of the best movies of ALL time.
I've seen David live & it was an unforgettable experience.
TRUTH: In the 1st half I thought 'Hmmm, it's OK, & awesome considering all he's gone through' & then after Intermission, the 2nd half was AWESOME, GENIUS, SUPERB! So much that there was not a person still sitting. I & MANY were in tears.
@handycappo .. Sorry about this laaaate reply .. I keep mistaking Noah Taylor for Ben Mendelson & vice-versa! BooBoo :o/ so my comment should read "I keep forgetting to mention Noah Taylors performance in 'Shine'! Sorry Noah! Utterly beautiful, convincing, humerous, touching, magnificent work!
I felt sorry for him when he was in the physiatrics place and he couldn't play the piano. And at church he was playing that song on his knees with his fingers the whole time. I'm just glad that he actually had a decent life at the end after all the abuse from his father. Considering this was a true story, i'm really glad. When the guy this was featured on saw the movie, he said he cried because it was almost the exact same as what had really happened to him.
@Mainehorse i suggest you head to IMDB and read the forum for Shine...apparently the movie is full of lies and should not be believed....take everything with a grain of salt though
@drizella MAYBE some exaggerations [poetic license] but lies!?
Experience is in the eye of the beholder, & David's memory may have been distorted from some trauma along the way!? The point is that it's a GREAT film, GREAT acting, GREAT story, & David's a GREAT player (especially considering & despite his experiences) whether ALL true, & replicated EXACTLY or not!

Some people want young white females to mix with non-white males.
I made a one-minute video highlighting a very small sample of race-mixing advertisements.
I love white people, and I am opposed to race-mixing. But I do not hate non-whites.
If you click on my name “awhitesoul2012” highlighted in blue below this comment, you can watch my video.
Thanks.
