  • marvellous!!

  • bellissimo

  • Rach 3 is definitely one of the hardest to play both in terms of techniques and the levels of details in expressions. But the movie mostly focuses on the first movement, I think the hardest movement is the last movement. The 2nd movement is also difficult.

  • Odlican film!!!

  • what happened to him at the end

  • @r2d2rx Made me curious. What´s the most difficult in your opinion?

  • @Hicksbosone Em, excuse me for jumping in (and for me being a non-piano-player), but I feel it's Chopin, isn't it?

  • @TheAkelei I think those Etudes are hard to play. I also had much trouble with the Balade no.1 (especially with the coda ) but that depends on your technique skills. Actually music pieces from Debussy for example are more difficult although there´re less notes. Sorry for my bad english.

Did somebody here ever played the 3rd Concerto from Rachmaninov?

  • What film is this?

  • @BarwinguezVId "Shine" 1996

  • its a beutiful film

  • very good film

  • I've heard it said despite the fame of Mozart and Bach, Rachmaninov pieces [like this one] are among the very most difficult to play. Exquisite.

  • ODLICAN FILM!

  • one of the best films i've ever watched

  • Astounding performance and what a brilliant work from the film producer! The name of the movie is Shine (1996). Thank you for uploading it!

  • it´s so beaultifull

  • looks like a good movie...is it even a movie? whats it called and i love this song

  • @TheStardust12 It's called Shine, it won one Oscar.

  • What is the piece that he is playing called?

  • @bulbous915 Rachmaninoff 3rd concerto - you should also hear the 2nd, it's amazing :)

  • KANN DER RUSSE DA MAL DIE FRESSE HALTEN BITTE !!!!!!!!!!

  • Il video è bello, ma l'audio è troppo basso.

  • Красивые ... большое спасибо!

  • Rachmaninoff*

  • @hillbilly131296 No. He's obviously Russian, so he spells it the Russian way. Rach was Russian, so we should spell it the Russian way.

  • dislike?why?

  • true story?

  • @myvideos01234 yes.

  • I never touched a piano in my life, but that music, with that perfection, those movements aren't child's play, you need to be gifted to do that.

that music... I dont have words for that music ........

  • @SushantBhargav no, you need to love the instrument, music, and have common sense to understand technique... i ve been told i have great talent in the piano, and i reply, what is talent if not subconscient understanding of somethin? so it's all about how close to the essence of something you get ;)

  • interesting that this is the most violent conversation i've ever read in my 4 years on youtube and it has nothing to do with slipnot, disturbed, korn, marilyn manson, etc..who would have thought

  • nem tudom mi lehet ezzel a 14-el

  • @ppjjlop fuck your piano, douchebag commie........and no wonder you're on here leaving messages, beings you could never make it in the music & piano world........you're a washed up loser who never made it in the piano world

  • Amazing, what movie is this?

  • @goldviolinist1 shine

  • @goldviolinist1 shine

  • I love this movie..one of the best I`ve ever seen <3

  • 12 people heard a huge "POP" when they got their heads out of there asses..

  • why is the orchestra flawlessly registrated and the piano sound quality is horrible?!?!

  • fucking dubbing

  • 2:07

  • Muzyka OK film też.

  • Faints from shere awesomeness.

  • I can't hear it, even with my speaker turned all the way up...disappointment!

  • to ochin prykrasne

  • In Soviet Russia, Rachmaninoff Plays you!!

  • @MrSamc94 In America, Chuck Norris gives lessons to Rachmaninoff!

  • Sounds like it is in E flat minor, or E minor, not D minor??

  • I never know Helfgott was Russian!!!!!!

  • @Santosificationable perhaps everybody becomes Russian when they play Rachmaninov

  • Great movie and symphony ! THX

  • The most difficult music to play !

  • @LLsamy no

  • That's really is not how piano concerto no.3 of Rachmaninoff looks and heard like.

  • wow,, cool, ive only only seen him on youtube,, and he's talkin to him self while playin... what was he playin cause if it was the 3rd concerto by rachmaninov i think the second movement is way better than the 1st,, not to diminish the first in any way, i jus think its crazyer..

  • Amazing Movie!

  • To, čoviče... Zakon... Kakvo ludilo...

    t 1950

  • I wish I was as good at Vollyball as he is at playing the piano

  • This movie was the reazon i studied psycology... is precious!

  • Shine is decidedly THE best movie I have seen, and the one movie I will recommend to everyone for ever and ever till I die ...

  • I keep forgetting to mention Ben Mendelsons performance in 'Shine'! Sorry Ben! Utterly beautiful, convincing, humerous, touching, magnificent work!

    BRAVO Ben!

  • @ShmOprah whos ben?? is the middle david actualy olaying that?? cause ive a bullshiting friend who ashures me its a hand double so i jus dont know..

  • @handycappo .. Oh Thank you for the correction! For some reason I thought Ben was in Shine but he's not. BooBoo! I meant Noah Taylor. SORRY Noah!! Awesome performance. One of the best movies of ALL time.

I've seen David live & it was an unforgettable experience.

TRUTH: In the 1st half I thought 'Hmmm, it's OK, & awesome considering all he's gone through' & then after Intermission, the 2nd half was AWESOME, GENIUS, SUPERB! So much that there was not a person still sitting. I & MANY were in tears.

  • zzzZZZZ

  • I felt sorry for him when he was in the physiatrics place and he couldn't play the piano. And at church he was playing that song on his knees with his fingers the whole time. I'm just glad that he actually had a decent life at the end after all the abuse from his father. Considering this was a true story, i'm really glad. When the guy this was featured on saw the movie, he said he cried because it was almost the exact same as what had really happened to him.

  • @Mainehorse i suggest you head to IMDB and read the forum for Shine...apparently the movie is full of lies and should not be believed....take everything with a grain of salt though

  • @drizella MAYBE some exaggerations [poetic license] but lies!?

Experience is in the eye of the beholder, & David's memory may have been distorted from some trauma along the way!? The point is that it's a GREAT film, GREAT acting, GREAT story, & David's a GREAT player (especially considering & despite his experiences) whether ALL true, & replicated EXACTLY or not!

LOVE & PEACE to ALL :o)x

  • shitty translation! damn!

  • @DritonGusia YAWN!!

  • Comment removed

  • Sheer perfection. This piece represents the absolute highest achievement of human kind in musical expression.

  • Concerto 3 in D-sharp minor

  • @johnalt16 lol just d minor...although the video is an entire half step sharp putting it in d sharp minor haha

  • @chutdigadut lol I know, was just pointing that out

  • @johnalt16 ohhh haha ok

  • Most could only dream of being as remotely talented.

  • 4:34 is definitely NOT Rach 3

  • This is the most beautifuull music that i ever eard its amazing

  • hoiski poiski

  • hahahahhahaha

  • racist asshole.

  • i thought it was a good joke.

  • you have been brought in by capitalist propaganda xD

  • lol

  • I´ve jsut seen that movie, Shine... I have to say that it was the most emotional film I´ve ever seen! And this scene? Oh my God!

  • your momma!

  • You guys should really stop quoting Wikipedia. The man is not a genius, he is simply a fenomenally good piano player.

  • wow, so...

a.) you don't see how being a great musician actually does, in fact, require genius... and...

b.) you can't spell the word, "phenomenally."

    beautiful.

  • @igs7 ZACARY!!!

NB: I'm agreeing with you :o)

My De-Facto's 11yo boy said to me one day "I'm going to call you Zacary from now on". I said "WHY!?" He said "Bcos your face ZACARY rike a***hole!"

    Hmmmm.

It was time for a laugh :o)

  • haha what a lame dubbing

  • @geevow what about the POINT!?

    ie: The Music!!

    It's exquisite!

    &

    ie: The Movie!!

    It's magnificent!

One of the BEST Movies EVER made!

  • @ShmOprah TOTALLY agree.

  • all this "key" thing, has to do with technical details of youtube. Try listening the DVD or CD from the movie.

Not to mention that all the parts in the movie are being played by (the real) David Helfgott. A GENIUS.

  • what genius, he is just playing what someone else put down. The real genius is the man that wrote it , RACHMANINOFF. Oh by the way he is a russian composer...the government may have been communist but so what music has no boundries ... it's beautiful

  • !!!

  • no one cares...its good stuff

  • yeah i noticed that

  • Thank you, it bugs me too. It sounds almost artificial...

  • He is Australian

  • отличный фильм! а Рахманинов прирождённый гений музыки...

  • lynndelano - Noah Taylor

  • i went and saw him in concert a few days ago! it was hilarious, he wouldnt shut up. half the time humming along or mumbling to himself, and the rest of it he was talking to the people in the front row and not even concentrating on what he was doing. every time he finished a song, he would get up and shake all the ffront row peoples hands, do about 10 thumbs up, and then go back to his seat, and play another song!

  • you know! with all due respects, maybe he's got the confidence not to give a -yu no wht- so let it go Darlin.........more important issues to deal with

  • i wasnt being mean, i loved every second.

  • AWESOME!!!! Where did he play. You saw history before your eyes. He will always hold a special place. He has drawn SOOOOO much attention to this piece and classical music. A wonderful contribution. A wonderful man. GREAT movie.

  • i saw him at the royal festival hall when this was just released, bloody marvelous.

  • IQ = 40 ???

  • It is too bad that Zachary (I think is the boy's name) does not actually play the piano. He should. He has a very nice presence that could really bring him a long way in the field! Rush did a wonderful job and plays a beautiful piano, himself. Just a wonderful movie, overall. David Helfgott holds his place in history and is a large part of why many young folks discover classical music today. Congratulations to all involved with this masterpiece.

  • that's a lot of chords

  • I found it very upsetting to watch a man push himself to and past the extremes of his ability. A very upsetting film overall. Nothing is worth pushing yourself too much for. A very sad film.

  • but not only movie!!!! david helfgott is real person!

he still live in Australia I think

  • so is this story really based on a true tale?

    did Helfgot really go crazy?

  • the story is completely true.

  • yep :)

  • Actually there a number of inconsistencies. Not least the portrayal of his father as abusive.

  • fODAAAA

  • wow take about 5 years of 8 hour practice days to play properly xD

  • S-O D-R-A-M-A-T-I-C

  • AHHHHHH MY EARSSSSS

this isn't in d minor here.

  • e-flat minor, actually. Ouch!!

  • Yeah somewhere in between d and e-flat actually.

  • e flat minor exactly

  • Not on my keyboard. I tried this out playing with and it lies between d and e-flat, on neither pitches. I don't know why this is.

  • no, don't worry about it.

i have perfect pitch, it's in the key of e flat minor.

  • oo perfect pitch sweet

  • why aaahh my earrsss? Eb minors a much nicer key than D minor anyway. hearing things out of tune does no harm to your ears

  • thank you
