I pretty much agree with everything you are saying but I am convinced that everything in the universe is the creation of thought. The only thing I can be absolutes certain of is that there is something that is perceiving beyond all the thought. That thing is always there whether I am sleeping, dreaming or awake and maybe when I'm dead. This is more apparent when I am in meditation or internally contemplating the source beyond all thought and the feeling of me.
Why do some things have no scent?

It's not ALL in the mind. It's "out there" too. It's an interaction between reality and consciousness that creates sounds, sights and smells.
