I'm looking at buying my first hammock. This one looks as though it would be more comfortable to me, being a flatter bed and less claustrophobic compared to the clark's and the hennessy's. I'd reckon that the tarp on top doesn't have large enough coverage and wouldn't stop any decent rain at the ends as you'd expect to get here in the tropics. But it does look as though there is plenty of flow through ventilation? I don't know?
This is really similar to the military issue jungle hammock, rolls up to about 9 inches by 6 inches and weighs roughly 2.5 pounds. Not the smallest or lightest, but its tough and dependable, although I suggest you get in your back yard and mess with it to see how to set it up best for YOU. I have to secure mine at all corners to the ground to keep from ended up tied up and upside down.
@ejdupont dunno why you would need the tie outs, I usually just put sticks found on the ground between them. As long as your middle line on top is tied(and should be to allow mosquito netting to stretch), this gives you two points on each end. i have no trouble turning, tossing or leaning out to make coffee in the mornings. Pretty darn sturdy in my opinion.
These style jungle hammocks are NOT supposed to be used with spreader bars.
Installing your own spreader bars causes extreme instability.

@zaxx24 The Clark Jungle Hammock is much better. You can sleep on your side without tipping over and it has loads of other features.
