@SuperRonArt mugging happens everywhere, i was mugged in London and New York...perhaps you were to open with your possessions which is not advised as per the CIA. It is actually funny how you can write off a whole country due to the fact that you were mugged, very narrow minded and foolish. Perhaps i could say I avoid the southern United States as I am scared off being shot by a 'redneck' - your guidance and advice is unfounded and worthless. But ThankYou for the comment xD

@jimmye15 I agree one can get mugged anywhere. When I told others in Quito what had happened, they all had an "I got mugged" story too. On the + side, the good people are doing the best they can while the bad people burden them. On the - side, don't drink the water, put toilet paper in the toilet, stand near a vehicle's exhaust, stand still or walk alone, take anything valuable, including $, do scrub vegetables,. Have a nice trip; I'm going to spend my money somewhere more civilized.

@SuperRonArt BTW, health care in Ecuador is fair and very inexpensive -- I got actual stories from the locals. In the US, the medical community mugs you. A cavity costs $315 (my own recent (July 2010) experience). BTW, we had 4 power outages in one month on the Ecuadorean coast.

Lo peor que le a pasado a Ecuador creo que es la Dolarizacion .

Antes con un Dolar podias comprar mas de una cosa ahora con un dolar no haces nada. Que cree la jente opinen?

@popojose09 el sucre era una divisa sin valor alguno cuando se instauró la dolarización. Si no se hubiese hecho eso Ecuador ahora mismo sería un país totalmente arruinado. Aunq cierto es que encareció la vida de los ciudadanos del país.
