  • thanks for Garageband settings :))))

  • 54yo David Gilmore fan... Awesome!

  • Very nice, dude !!

I wonder if you changed the pickguard, because i thought, that all the pickguards

have been black since 76' or something?

If you are interested, i just uploaded a vid with my "brand-new" all original 77' Strat ;)!

  • @ACDCKissLuki - yep, the guitar had a early 70s pickguard, the original one was black with black parchment

  • hi, great sound/technique, but what are the amp and pedals settings you are using to nail that tone????

  • Great Tone, Great Playing.. One of the best Covers of this Solo on Youtube.. Great Job Dude, and thanks for posting your Garageband Settings.

  • @TurkeyDart glad you liked it, thank you!

  • Great sound and feeling!! But why do not use the tremolo bar??

  • Yep fender squire strat is a awesome guitar and not expensive :)

  • I generally dislike it when people cover Floyd tunes. Gilmour is the "KING of Sustain" but you nailed it dude. Props for posting a QUALITY tribute on Youtube. Keep it coming!

  • Really a great job all around - playing and sound. Thanks for the settings info.

  • sexy guitar bro..rock on

  • Superb! Make an album bro, you rock. Go record you'd have fans in no time

  • @Tosswallyproductions - thanx man! :)

  • can you just use the built in speakers for garageband or should i use external speakers. i just want to record in garageband.

  • @fezzard - you can use the mac speakers

  • @dweezilmichele the thing is i dont have an imac, what i have is a macbook... ive read somewhere that you need to install external speakers, but i just want to plug my guitar in the macbook and start recording... do you think i just need the 1/8 mono to 1/4 mono cable and start recording or do i need to buy external speakers as well?

  • @fezzard - i'm on a macbook pro, you just need a jack adaptor (large to small), plug into your mac and start recording, maybe you'll just have to set your garageband audio preferences

  • @dweezilmichele Just curious...how did you get the song in garage band and delete the guitar part? Great job!

  • @Politicallynot - I did not deleted the guitar part, I used an original backing track without the lead, the guitar you hear is mine

  • @fezzard A good set of headphones will serve you well. "Cans" (the type that fit over your ears) will give you a fuller sound stage and range so you can properly hear all parts. When your recording is complete to your liking THEN you can unleash it on the masses through a stereo. =)

  • Sounds ok but your timing is off in some spots and your bends are not quite in tune.

  • Nice, I enjoyed that!

  • wow very good

  • You're bad-ass, kid....

  • mac= the computer for people with dreams

  • Can you upload the tab? nice job !

  • guitar settings ?

    please

  • I'm still impressed by this version! such a great tone for garageband! check out my version recorded with another mac app, watch?v=A9vK2epJRP0

  • Rock on! Great sound...

  • How do deal with Latency ?

  • @TheMusicDude1997 get a faster computer

  • can u tell me your sound settings such as ( gain compressor etc..

  • very good youve inspired. my adaptor, and other stuff is in the post now. i cant wait to try it out with garageband :)

  • why don;t you post more videos, and man could you put some guitar lessons up?

  • @dweezilmichele How did you get the audio and the video to sync together? Did you use imovie to record the video? I want to do cover videos with my macbook pro but I dont know how to record a video and use audio from garageband as the real-time audio track.

  • Great job on the feeling of the sound, great sound

  • should i have my volume knob on my guitar all the way up and the amp volume halfway? or should i turn the amp up all the way and the volume knob halfway or w/e? I'm plugging into my amp then connecting my amp to my comp.

  • baaaaggghghhhh

    wow!

    its fckn beautiful

  • nice! but i have a question! did u arrange the backing track yourself or you simply dragged an mp3 song on the garage band??

  • Bonito

  • Strats and teles are scrumptious! :)

  • i love it :=)))

  • sorry, but what you use to connect the guitar to mac?

  • @OlderShy - a simple instrumenta cable and an adaptor from normal jack to small jack (the one that goes into the mac) ;-)

  • @dweezilmichele

What a sound! Really beautiful ...you sounds really great!

    (Sorry for my bad english)

  • @OlderShy - thanx a lot

  • @dweezilmichele haha, i use this method too when im recording, but i usually run it through my boss GT 10 as well as other pedals, sounding great man!

  • absolutely sicko!! thats great man nice one!!

  • I thought that sounded really nice

  • that the way ,,friend i like !

  • Great tone. I just used Garageband to record a song I wrote with a couple of my friends. It's really amazing what this software can do.

  • VERY NICE THNX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi, I have an imac and want to start using backing tracks and recording lead guitar over them in garageband. How do you connect your guitar to the mac? Do you use a firewire audio interface or plug the guitar straight into the line in port with an adaptor?

  • fender stratocaster 77??? rlly good guitar! i have a mexican deluxe lone star and its not bad :) but i think ur guitar is better...isnt it?

  • @rockandpop932 yeah, it's a good guitar, but now I prefer my 63 frankenstrat, check it on my vids :)

  • the little slide up and down the neck at :13 lets you guys know this is NOT "fake" because thats not in the original so quit with the stupid comments and just enjoy the vid I'm sure it was posted for entertainment anyway so don't be so ignorant. RELAX and ENJOY you guys If I put up a vid you'll really hate it so be glad I don't !!! anyway GOOD JOB MAN SOUNDS PERFECT!!!!!!!!!

  • does garageband have a setting just for david gilmour and the exact sound of the time solo because this sounds dead on with the original.

  • sick tone

  • fantastic playing, once again!

    absolutely nail it!

    great job!!!

  • perfect tone!

  • NICE !

  • @kswainmusic

yeah digital stuff is never as good as the real thing. but it's still a cool concept

  • @shoekstra1419

I agree. I find it interesting to mess around with it but definitely prefer the sound of my amp over anything. I usually use the direct out on my amp to get my desired tone.

  • okai, i have garage band, but no clue on how to use it, anybody give me some tips?

  • you have to start by experimenting pretty much. It's like any other DAW software but you learn through trial and error. Garageband is really a simple software that can be mastered through continuous use. You could watch the tutorials on Apple's website but experimenting with it is more productive

  • so does GarageBand give you amp models?

  • Yes. But the models are not as high quality as you might think. I tend to get funky noises out of my amp models that don't sound much like a guitar

  • oh okai, but do i need a special Lead/input method to use my guitar direct into garage band?

    Nick,

  • @NickFisher1994

A lot of people use interfaces. I, myself, have an 8 input interface that I can use for my band. However, your mac has a direct input built right into it. It is an 1/8 inch jack but you can buy an adapter (very cheap) that allows you to plug your 1/4 inch guitar cable into the 1/8 inch jack.

  • ok, thanks a lot man :)

  • what are the settings? wich gargeband is this? i havve garageband '09

  • hey man, i used the settings in the info, but i keep getting buzz and feedback from the brittish gain amp simulation. please help. what can i do to get a nice clean sound like yours

  • @RT101894 - try a shorter, better jack, also use pickups like custom 69 or noiseless, also set the output volume lower, hope this helps

  • i already have niosless p ups in....for a chord i have a 1/4in to an 1/8in adapter, then going into the line input on my computer....thanks

    - Ryan

  • fake? check out 1:06

    video says 1 bend

    audio says more bends

    :-)

  • check at the end of the song, the backing track ends and the sound continues

    you say fake?

    I say real

    :-)

  • Your still a douche lol

  • Bravo,bravo,bravo...l'ho già detto bravo?? XD Non dar retta a qst ke dicono k sono delle fake...manko i Pink la suonano così

  • @norbert321 its called vibrato

  • @norbert321 hehe well i dont think its fake due to the fact that at 0:59 he plays the the root of the bend then bends it... in the song "time" the solo isnt played like that... listen to it

  • Just got Garage band with my mac. How do I plug in, play and record with an artist like you just did???

  • @walkdaddy6 You have to get an adapter from your guitar cable to your macbook/ mac... whatever you got. Then once youve done that just look around for videos on how to set it up.

  • man this is one of the best time solo's on here.....quite tasty.....

  • sounds better through my REAL mesa boogie if i do say so myself

  • I'm getting a MacBook for Christmas and I am deffinitly trying this!!!

    Got tabs?

  • I'm getting an iMac and I'll love to play with garageband :)

  • Wow!!!

  • Tab*

  • That was the shit. Could you rab that out?

  • Not perfect but really nice cover man.... awesome tone especially

  • good job.

  • Nice work there

  • great cover mate...

  • good job man. your tone sounds just like david gilmour's.

  • amazing

  • Great, great!

  • con che cosa la colleghi la chitarra al mac?

  • o con una scheda audio esterna o con un riduttore jack

  • its good...but when you play live you can't bring your computer on stage...i still prefer getting pedals and experimenting with sounds/orders...because it will take you farther.

  • who says u cant bring ur cpu on stage

  • great cover! I have a mac too, what sound do you use to get that sound? arena rock? thanks!

  • cool!

  • My friend made a cable that connects a guitar straight to garageband. It's awesome! It doesn't need a per amp or anything, and I can use my distortion pedal with it for a great sound! P.S. he made it by splicing a normal 1/8 audio cable to a guitar cable.

  • Is the sound output coming out of you speakers?

  • Pretty Impressive!

  • so the guitar is plugged straight into the mac? and the effects are generated by garageband? impressive.

  • thats quite brilliant and the tone is just top notch for a software based sound.excellent my friend.

  • so you have to buy a seperate cable to connect the guitar? if so how much?

  • yeah that or buy a mixer

  • NOPE! you can just use a normal cable, you only need an adapter to enter into the minijack of the mac

  • the guitar cable hooks right up into the macbook?

  • is your tone created from garageband?

  • that program puts out pretty good sound

  • That was great !

  • How did you get such a clean tone? I have a fender strat and I can only get a semi-clean tone when it's at a really low volume which isn't really useful. Help?

  • Custom 69 pickups would help, you'll have to set up correctly Garageband as well

  • one word for you

    AWESOME

  • perfect I like the beggining

perfecto, me gusta mucho el comienzo

    5 STARS

  • The tone is close to perfect dude !

  • the whole point is to get it pretty damn close, everyone has there own interpretation of the song and how it sounds in our minds is how we play. Don't bash on another guitarist for how he made it sound different than the original (David Gilmour)...to me it was really close and was freakin awesome. To each its own.

  • right. adding a bend or two doesn't destroy the solo, it is merely the artists interpretation of the song...or maybe they just thought it would sound better that way....besides, hearing it played the same way 1,000 times gets old after awhile

  • ye no one should comment bad stuff on him because he using his own style which is awsome

  • @squierplayer This guitar solo will NEVER get old.

    GET the FUCK out.

  • @Galkatokk haha fuck you

  • wow you are amazing!!

  • how do u hook it up to pc?

  • very good man!

  • tone sounds pretty spot on and I don't know what the other guy was saying about your bends, they sound good to me.

  • work on the bends geesh. good play thou

  • awesome dude!! same effects and distortion...great

  • You're awesome dude! Sounded great!

  • if you whant to have gilmour sound go to fender shop buy an stratocaster SSS but 50st aniversery or black strat and a good soft distorzion pedal

  • i would kill for talent like that

  • You are very talented !

  • i would give my left nut to have that guitar/ skill

  • sound slike david himself

  • sei grande complimenti

  • grazie!

  • This is great!

  • Beautiful!

  • very nice what r your setting to get such a great sound

  • ottima esibizione!

    5 stelle :D

Comunque ke effetto hai usato su garage band?

    :P

    son anche io utente mac

  • mind sharing the settings for this sound?

  • great

  • Mac FTW! Guitar solos FTW! Nice video 5 *

  • nice solo, what were the settings you used on garage band. I have get the effects for shino on you crazy diamond, the wall and the solo for mother but not this one, would you mind sharing that?

  • how did you hook your guitar up to garageband?

  • u can buy an adapter from apple and probably other places that u can plug ure jack lead in. hope this helps.

  • Just Great!

  • This isn't a diss or anyting, but a question.

Why was it nessesary to say it used garageband?

I mean, what roll did garageband play lol

  • All the guitar effects you hear here (delay, reverb, amp simulation) are made with Garageband

  • Ohhh.

    Did you use a litesnake?

  • nice video bro....

    keep it up.....

    yuz

  • nice, i got a pretty good gilmourish sound out of garage band too... works for this or another brick in the wall. gotta love garageband.

  • hey great job. as others pointed out, not only a sick job on hitting the notes themselves, but you captured the solo's essence, its soul.

btw, i'm doing a presentation tomorrow on computer-generated music and i mention garageband - your solo would be a perfect example of what someone with skill can do with that program. can you send me your garageband source file? i'll definitely credit you. :)

  • hello, sorry but I read only now!

  • thats so easy i can do both of the panic attack solos

  • Good for you douche bag. Though "Panic Attack" is a great song.

  • very sexy! was this easy to set up and record?

  • very good, 5 stars!

  • I don't know the solo particularly well but even with some *slightly* inaccurate bends, it was really expressive, maybe the imperfection added to its REALLNESS. anyway that was good! keept it up.

  • I definitely agree with willy, I think it's inportant to add something mine during a solo

  • Great sound, even if some bends need more work, but keep on rockin'!!

  • Great!! Maybe you need to work your bends, some are not very good! But keep on working!! Look at my version if you like.

  • Brilliant. You have captured the essence of the solo... and not just the notes!

  • one of, if not the best rendentions of this solo on u y-ube. one of my favorite solos. gilmour is not the greatest guitarist, but definately my favorite. with the exception of a note or two, you nailed it buddy.

  • sei bravissimo! mi dai un giudizio sulla mia versione? grazie, ciao

  • wow .. amazing!!

  • awesome job, man! just because of this video, I'm thinking on buying a mac to use garageband. anyway, you're great, keep it up. Peace

  • excellent

  • nice job. u really captured the feel of gilmour's style. keep up the good work.

  • absolutely fantastic and briliant ,if you come to AMSTERDAM you have to teach me this great solo

  • Good job man! Most people can't even get close to capturing David Gilmour's style, but you got very close. Keep up the good work!

  • hey great sound, I AM PRETTY SHOCKED THAT IS GARAGE BAND WOW! Are you going straight in your sound card with the guitar cord or are you using an audio interface like a stealth plug? or M-Audio type of USB/FIREWIRE interface?

  • don't u all love this solo by PF, just amazing..........gilmour is just amazing
