I don't think a person shakes from low blood sugar. "More protein, less fruit " is un-natural and not the way to go. 7 months ago, I cut my protein in half, and I eat 15 pieces of fruit a day. The only times I ever got the shakes and dizziness is when I got food poisoning or ate too much cacao.
I don't know if anyone's still viewing these videos but I thought I'd comment. The cacao contains theobromine, which is similar to caffeine, and has a greater stimulating effect on the heart than does caffine. As I've become more interested in going raw I've also become interested in staying drug free. Even the small amounts of caffeine, or theobromine I got from eating small amounts of chocolate daily, was throwing me out of wack, giving me highs and lows.
I had good luck with cacau when I was chewing the nibs as a snack a few years ago. I believe the health benefits are what they claim to be. However, I wasn't aware of how some people like many things simply dont tolerate it well. Someone else commented blood sugar, thats probably something to try to rule out for sure. I'm no doc ofcourse just another person that started taking control from the western medical mafia 7 years ago and have learned a lot that you can't get from you practitioner
I started being a raw vegan and about a month in I cheated one day, I was so weak and tired I just couldn't take it but normally I was feeling good it was just that day so I got a Jimmy Johns sandwich on wheat....with in about 5 hours I was so sick that I thought I had food poisoning and it lasted for 3 days but I guess I had became very sensitive something not sure but I never ate out again...that was about 2 months ago
I know what you mean about not being able to eat the way I once did. I joke about what would happen if I ate a hamburger. But seriously, I would probably be super sick. My mom wonders if it is "safe" to be this sensitive to "normal" foods like that, but ya know...I am glad I am. It's all about AWARENESS! Keep me posted on your raw journey.
That shaky thing sure sounds like blood sugar instability. I have it and recognize it well. More protein, less fruit should put that to rights. As for the cacao--just pay attention. You know your body will tell you what it likes and doesn't like. I love cacao smoothies, but sometimes they don't make me feel very good. Not sure if I get it too sweet, or if it's the cacao itself! Don't get discouraged. You have good instincts, and you're motivated. Just keep on keeping on.
Thank you. I am just amazed by how sensituve I am becoming. I am sure it is a good thing, but it can be frustrating. I don't play by the same food rules anymore. LOL.
Hang in there, momma. You will find a good balance that works for you. We have to find a new balance every day because what works well one day, doesn't necessarily work every day. Our bodies change from moment to moment. You probably have some detox doing on too.
Cacao wigs me out also and gives me a tummy ache.
Yes, every day is proving to be a different situation from the day before. I guess I jsut thought I would find a daily routine that was stable and consistent rather than all over the place. How boring, right? It's keeping me on my toes and listening more intently to my body. :)
This sounds like a sugar crash. When your sugar levels get really low it will cause you to shake and become very emotional usually grumpy. If this happens again, drink about a half of cup of orange juice and hold some of it under your tongue for fast absorption. If this is the problem, you should feel better in about 10 mins. If not, drink another half cup. An episode like this will leave you weak and can take a couple of days to regain your strength. I've been there many times.
wow, hang in there Lori, that's really lame that you cut yourself, and cacao isn't working out for you. I'm one of the lucky ones with it I suppose...glad you are fine tuning as you say! How about carob? ;)
I honestly don't know why this was awaiting me in my subs but I clicked it anyway. I don't stay on an all raw food diet. But I've been juicing now, more vegies than smoothies for 6 plus years. Amazing results for someone that barely exercises. Anyway, good job, sorry you feel bad. My diet is called the specific carbohydrate diet. I guess I just need to get that off my chest to someone that hasn't heard it on a daily basis.

Thank you for sharing. I have become very intolerant of it. My head spins. Weird, but glad my body is responsive.

I think it may have been a combo of the cacao, the sauna, and the sugar crash. All I know is that it was not fun. I feel much better today!

Yeah, I have been replacing cacao w/ carob a bit, but I am not in the habit of it. I wish I could handle the cacao. It's a little frustrating.

I feel great today. I am thankful this was the first day I have experienced this since my 100 day challenge.
