Lastly, I will not try to make some type of pre-conceived assumption(a bit re-dundent) about your school and community. But you also forgot one other thing about libraries. Library does not only open people to the use of reading. Many libraries have music archives and art archives as well as other pieces of info some people would never think of using such as archived newspapers. Also, public libraries allow public use of computers, something some people still can't afford.
Hello, you make an excellent arguement for public libraries and against public schools. Unfortunately you forgot one thing in the mix. My public school system utilizes the public library. In fact, most public schools in my area have their own library which is to say the least, for all intensive purposes is adequate for lower level education but will order book in from larger branches. Also, I think your problem should be with public schools not leaving their libraries doors open to students.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
um, what the fuck . when you are at the library you read shit, but its hard to understand. Thas what teachers do, they are paid to teach difficult materials. Librarys have books for some shit about anything u want except if your dealing with math, science, or any actual hard subject, it is almost impossible to fully learn them without a teacher. AND BTW WHAT IS THE NAME OF DAT SONG IN THE BEGINNING?
Actually, all of the libraries in my area have extensive collections of music--and not just the kind of stuff you'd expect to find in a library. Sure, you can find ancient chamber music, but they have tons of newer music (both popular and alternative). Also, if you look them up online, they have many new films; they just don't put them on display because people put them on hold so quickly.
You say that trouble making kids don't make trouble in the library because of a certain "respect" they must have for it. Is it not because noone is there to stop them? Most trouble makers break the rules where they are more likely to get caught, and get attention for it. Or where it makes a difference. In a library, you won't get attention for it, it won't make much of a difference and they probably wouldn't get caught.
True, through the eyes of a rational human being (wich is hard to find).the patterns of the public school system is rediculous and confusing.but but the people within those lifestyles veiw it as normal.peoples lifes are scheduled for them so that when they have the option of free will, they wont know what to do with it.but thats just my opinion...
Love the video, but I just had to mention one thing that I noticed. Concerning the "bad" kids not tearing up libraries, I think it is more of a result of the "bad" kids not frequenting the library as often as other kids. I will admit that a "bad" kid would, in my personal opinion, be less likely to tear up a place such as a public library, as opposed to a public school.
He didn't say any of that shit. I'm pretty sure he's damn sure about diplomas and stuff. He just made good points about how school is worse than libraries. Shit.
This is so wrong! So formatted! I once saw a grafitti, just outside a major downtown access road, that said "Have you been a good robot today?"
Where I live graduates flip patties at McD and hard working, intelligent people with 9th grade run successfull companies. You don't need a degree to succeed, actually, college only categorizes you so other categorized people can categorize you some more.
When I interview people for a job I always ask them to bring me theyr work and leave the Resume/CV at home. It's what you can do that matters not what you're supposed to do.
the difference between public school and public libraries is you are required to go to school, there for you have bad kids etc... librarys will only have the people who want to be there, and if they want to be there I doubt they will be acting badly for no reason

"actualy, you are not required to GO to school.
I homeschool, but from what my friends have told me, i feel for the people in public schools."
The very worst thing about school is how it causes children to immediatly imbibe the very worst habits of education from such a young age. It causes them to hate to read, to hate to learn and most atrociously of all to hate to explore.
Even though there are some flaws in what you say, I have to agree on what you say about the schooling system needing reform. It's very true. And you're right about the school libraries. They pretty much limit what you read and only put out what is for teens. Normally the school libraries have books that 'mold the mind' and only that. Public libraries offer more and are way better.
im gonna have to go to highschool. adn at the worst place, its called northpoint, its a reformed christain school. and i do think that if we HAVE to have to the school system, at least make it better. id rather we didnt have it though.
hey, i totally agree with you, but in order to survive in the real world( outside the library ), with a decent job, you ofcourse as we all know, and drop outs fully understand, NEED a HIGH SCHOOL DEPLOMA.
no matter how smart you are, anyone behind any desk reveiwing ur resume might look under education, i suppose depending on the person interveiwing u accepts 15 years of being in a library, over an A+ high school graduate, is anything short of a miracle.
GED, homeschooling, and knowing the right people (Einstein got one of his friends who only had a high school diploma into Cambridge studying for a PhD in Physics) can get you to ignore the "normal" path way.
Dude. . . That's sorta the point. It's fucked up the way the system is working. It needs to be changed. The fact that in the "real" world, you "need" a Highschool diploma is the whole problem. I think personally, that it stunts the growth of free thought. How do you ever discover, if you're only told? It's fucked.
That was extremely well thought through. I like the way you reason through each of your points rather than say them and move on. I especially enjoyed your point about censorship: libraries practically never censor their books, allowing the people to decide what the library is going to offer rather than the opposite way around.
if schools were more like libraries more kids will like to learn n read...u just have to find a subject that he or she likes. and the graffitti thing was true i see alot of "bad kids" at the library and they dont act up like they do in school.
I really like your stuff. You haev extremly valid points and a matter of speaking that makes me want to pay attention. I think you would make a great lawyer.

There's more to being smart than an expansive vocabulary, I see your videos and get so mad, I want to make a web site against you, I don't know why you're face and voice make me so mad, but I think it's because you are so smug with you're big words.
