  • Public humiliation in public schools. Yeah. You're right. Kids are miserable in school. They're forced to learn garbage they don't need.

  • this is pretty clearly a read off of one of John Taylor Gatto's Speeches/Essays. Clever idea though.

  • Lastly, I will not try to make some type of pre-conceived assumption(a bit re-dundent) about your school and community. But you also forgot one other thing about libraries. Library does not only open people to the use of reading. Many libraries have music archives and art archives as well as other pieces of info some people would never think of using such as archived newspapers. Also, public libraries allow public use of computers, something some people still can't afford.

  • Hello, you make an excellent arguement for public libraries and against public schools. Unfortunately you forgot one thing in the mix. My public school system utilizes the public library. In fact, most public schools in my area have their own library which is to say the least, for all intensive purposes is adequate for lower level education but will order book in from larger branches. Also, I think your problem should be with public schools not leaving their libraries doors open to students.

  • Love this video...!! like someone else said.. I like the way you think!!

  • O_O guns????

  • Caster: I like the way you think...rock on!

  • Hooray for intelligence! Great video.

  • you. are. amazing. you've just voiced all my opinions.

  • Good points. 100th comment yay!

  • Wow! Very interesting. Are you a homeschooled high schooler? I hope so.

  • Dat shit is called The Diary of Jane.

  • Great video! Libraries and bookstores are a little slice of heaven for me, and my kids...aaaaaahh!

  • you're so fantastic!

  • fabulous

  • Everything is free if you pay taxes.

  • everythings free? well for one you dont own it

2 there are only books nothing else other then some old vids and dvds but the rest COOl and AWESOME

  • Actually, all of the libraries in my area have extensive collections of music--and not just the kind of stuff you'd expect to find in a library. Sure, you can find ancient chamber music, but they have tons of newer music (both popular and alternative). Also, if you look them up online, they have many new films; they just don't put them on display because people put them on hold so quickly.

  • Thanks. Never knew that.

  • I agree with you on most of this... BUT.

You say that trouble making kids don't make trouble in the library because of a certain "respect" they must have for it. Is it not because noone is there to stop them? Most trouble makers break the rules where they are more likely to get caught, and get attention for it. Or where it makes a difference. In a library, you won't get attention for it, it won't make much of a difference and they probably wouldn't get caught.

  • our lives are scwred, and we can't do anythig about it unless we all join together and go against it, but who's got the guts to do that?

  • I have a question where did you learn to read?

  • damn asians are smart

  • i understood that and im only 14

  • True, through the eyes of a rational human being (wich is hard to find).the patterns of the public school system is rediculous and confusing.but but the people within those lifestyles veiw it as normal.peoples lifes are scheduled for them so that when they have the option of free will, they wont know what to do with it.but thats just my opinion...

  • Love the video, but I just had to mention one thing that I noticed. Concerning the "bad" kids not tearing up libraries, I think it is more of a result of the "bad" kids not frequenting the library as often as other kids. I will admit that a "bad" kid would, in my personal opinion, be less likely to tear up a place such as a public library, as opposed to a public school.

    It's probably both...actually.

  • Awesomest...thing...ever...Rock on.

  • hell yea man!

  • Amen to that, brother.

  • He didn't say any of that shit. I'm pretty sure he's damn sure about diplomas and stuff. He just made good points about how school is worse than libraries. Shit.

  • Hmmm... I was replying to the other comment, see how they indent?

  • Let's have sex.

  • Rated:*****

  • ha i can see a library from my house. its a damn good one but for some reason i go to one 20 mins away >,<

  • But! Libraries won't get you a diploma. They won't get you into college. Sure, they can help. But they aren't certified to pass you on to a college.

    No grades, no college.

School = grades = college. Or McDonald's, flipping patties. Hah.

  • This is so wrong! So formatted! I once saw a grafitti, just outside a major downtown access road, that said "Have you been a good robot today?"

Where I live graduates flip patties at McD and hard working, intelligent people with 9th grade run successfull companies. You don't need a degree to succeed, actually, college only categorizes you so other categorized people can categorize you some more.

  • When I interview people for a job I always ask them to bring me theyr work and leave the Resume/CV at home. It's what you can do that matters not what you're supposed to do.

  • if they run companies, its because their entrepreneurs, usually people are good at something due to hobbies, ETC.

  • agreed very much. great vid bud, enjoyed all i've watched so far, subscribing for sure.

  • Subscribed.

  • the difference between public school and public libraries is you are required to go to school, there for you have bad kids etc... librarys will only have the people who want to be there, and if they want to be there I doubt they will be acting badly for no reason

  • ...spiketvp1

"the difference between public school and public libraries is you are required to go to school, there for you have bad kids etc... librarys will only have the people who want to be there, and if they want to be there I doubt they will be acting badly for no reason"

    ...asukafan8

"actualy, you are not required to GO to school.

I homeschool, but from what my friends have told me, i feel for the people in public schools."

  • Ok, however some student's don't have the choice to homeschool due to parents. Some parents are very busy that even two incomes isn't enough.

  • Your great man. Just shear brilliance.

  • I think that this is one of your best vids ^_^ Good points.

  • This makes me proud to have a library 1 mile from my house

  • i agree that your a homo who cares!!!

  • The very worst thing about school is how it causes children to immediatly imbibe the very worst habits of education from such a young age. It causes them to hate to read, to hate to learn and most atrociously of all to hate to explore.

  • Even though there are some flaws in what you say, I have to agree on what you say about the schooling system needing reform. It's very true. And you're right about the school libraries. They pretty much limit what you read and only put out what is for teens. Normally the school libraries have books that 'mold the mind' and only that. Public libraries offer more and are way better.

  • im gonna have to go to highschool. adn at the worst place, its called northpoint, its a reformed christain school. and i do think that if we HAVE to have to the school system, at least make it better. id rather we didnt have it though.

  • hey, i totally agree with you, but in order to survive in the real world( outside the library ), with a decent job, you ofcourse as we all know, and drop outs fully understand, NEED a HIGH SCHOOL DEPLOMA.

no matter how smart you are, anyone behind any desk reveiwing ur resume might look under education, i suppose depending on the person interveiwing u accepts 15 years of being in a library, over an A+ high school graduate, is anything short of a miracle.

  • GED, homeschooling, and knowing the right people (Einstein got one of his friends who only had a high school diploma into Cambridge studying for a PhD in Physics) can get you to ignore the "normal" path way.

  • Dude. . . That's sorta the point. It's fucked up the way the system is working. It needs to be changed. The fact that in the "real" world, you "need" a Highschool diploma is the whole problem. I think personally, that it stunts the growth of free thought. How do you ever discover, if you're only told? It's fucked.

  • I agree.

  • Hmm, odd... I just named my ferret Cid, and he's a silvermitt, ironic, lol.

  • one of the boggst school killings happind in a libray.. get your facts but then agian ..nver mind

  • Then it was not a "school killing".

  • it was the school ibray but then agian that does change it

  • That was extremely well thought through. I like the way you reason through each of your points rather than say them and move on. I especially enjoyed your point about censorship: libraries practically never censor their books, allowing the people to decide what the library is going to offer rather than the opposite way around.

  • if schools were more like libraries more kids will like to learn n read...u just have to find a subject that he or she likes. and the graffitti thing was true i see alot of "bad kids" at the library and they dont act up like they do in school.

  • I really like your stuff. You haev extremly valid points and a matter of speaking that makes me want to pay attention. I think you would make a great lawyer.

  • Train your body kid, your mouth sure is annoying though. I'll punch you away and tell you thats the truth.

Right after my fav part with the agenda smack down.

  • Haha. I like this Kid. He is worser than me.

  • damn! wtf do yall have against this kid?! i mean he's not saying which one is better. He is letting you decide! Its a creative point of view which may or may not merit total accuracy yet a point of view and opinion none the less.

  • There's more to being smart than an expansive vocabulary, I see your videos and get so mad, I want to make a web site against you, I don't know why you're face and voice make me so mad, but I think it's because you are so smug with you're big words.

  • @teedle: what? this guy doesn't use an abnormally large vocabulary...you're just uneducated...that's what should make you mad...

and he is smart...vocabulary or not...

  • We have schools because most teenagers can't be fucked learning. My (private) school works much better than a library with teacher to student type learning. I wouldn't read to learn stuff without school.

  • you use great words, but actually you are such a retard. there is no correlation between school and libraries. A video of you sleeping would be less stressing and more interesting.

  • i never thought of it that way before..

  • The public school system needs the dissolution of the Department of Education.

  • If you prepared a bit more and made one strip of film, your videos would be much more powerful.

  • have you read Deschooling Society by Ivan Illich? kinda reminded me of such things.

  • lmao this is hilarious and SOOO true, i love this vid.

  • I Never thought of it that way, and your completely right...I Happy I Found you

  • This was actually a quality piece, I've never heard this comparison made.

  • you were right. this is good.

  • Seriously, fuck schools. I've thought this for years. Libraries are awesome! The internet is pretty helpful too.

  • This hit close to home for me. In my later years in high school, I had skipped school to go to the library to actually pick up a book and learn on what ever subject was up. I Eventually dropped out, and went to college 3 weeks later. If you want to know, I'm getting B's and A's. Not too shabby for a drop out no?

  • Let me make a correction. I feel I am shaming all my professors by using the word "College" when I reference their work. They are not "College" Professors, they are University Professors. University of Alaska Fairbanks all the way!

  • Again, check out the book The Teenage Liberation Handbook by Grace Llewellyn. You definitely need to drop out of school and get far more of an education than you would otherwise. Excellent vid!

Btw, I was a library volunteer in my teens (until the director tried making us all pee in a cup), and I once helped a teacher that was too ignorant to use a library herself.

  • dude this is the 3rd movie ive watched of yours and so far im likeing them all!!! finally some1 of high intelligents told parents,adults,teachers,etc... how the world is changeing ad falling apart. and hwo america is becomeing more and more communist rather peopel admit it or not.

  • dude i LOVE YOUR FUCKIN VIDS!!!! its about time someone with a good decent INTELLIGENT opinion got on youtube to tell it LIKE IT IS and how it SHOULD be...

  • i like your ideas, but with out public schools telling me what to read, i wouldent even go to the library. we send kids to school and they learn, we send kids to libraries, and they leave and go play video games, they only read if they have been tought to (school)

you must first open the mind in order to let it expand itself

    but that aside, great video

  • If kids don't care, let them waste their time. Society's flaw is that it tries to force idiots to be functional people. If they don't want to educate themselves, let them die off. This is harsh, but it's hard not to fantasize about a world where lazy people get what they deserve.

  • Perfect Logic....

  • All Your Opinions Make Perfect Sense.I Like Your Vids. Finally Some Good Stuff On Youtube^_^

  • Wow your opinions are incredable and true.

  • haha. that was funny. i love my library. i wanna go graffeti it now. haha! lol

  • EEK! That was amazing lol. You're amazing!

  • I, too, have come to the realization that the library is some mystical place where everyone is nice and no one is ever judged. It's the strangest thing I've ever seen. You're incredibly intelligent but your delivery needs some work: your face was way too close to the camera, and you need to articulate a bit more.

  • Nice!! But I think you mean good librariesn not like the one in the south ware I live. HATE THE SOUTH AND MOVING asap!!!

  • Thank you! Someone with sense that can form a solid opinion, and then argue for it! I agree with you completely! I spend more time in the library than I do at my house. Why? There's no one there, besides the librarians, which equals sweet, sweet silence and solitude. The library/librarian doesn't question my personal life. And if I want to read a book about vampires or a sword-slinging samurai, I WILL! So, thank you for your intellectually sound video.

  • I work in a library at a community college. I appreciate your respect for libraries and library science.

  • I've volunteered at many libraries for years, it's great.

  • nice

  • perfect. just. perfect point

  • Lol. I agree very much with this one. x3

  • Ever seen a children's section in a library? I've taken a lot of books out of the library that were marked "Adult Fiction".

    Regardless of that, good point.

  • Back. Up. From. The. Damn. Camera.

  • I agree with you. I really enjoy watching your videos.

  • you're insecure.

  • wow ur smart man!

  • Good points!

  • Why do u edit these so much, can't you do it in one long take? or do u mess up too much : )

  • it makes it seem fast and in your face.

  • Ahh true.

  • I'm Libertarian and am against Public Schools... but I do think that Public Libraries are necessary because we need avenues where enterprising individuals can work to improve themselves via education. Also, I have seen where the private sector has failed to provide certain media due to pressures from certain groups (like a Barnes and Noble in West Texas refusing to order a book on atheism).

  • ~I have never let my schooling interfere with my educaion~

    Mark Twain

  • one of my favorite quotes of all time...was about to put it, glad i saw that u already did so that i didn't look stupid

  • I made a video with some of his quotes, perhaps you are intrested...

  • did u get a laptop or something? how come the backgrounds have changed. O__O

  • Pretty good points I have never really thought of all of that about the library.
