95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy & paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die
I think Nick is probably the coolest drummer, not the best, but the coolest. He's got the groove! Love the fill at 4:15,looks easy, but its fecking hard.
@kathodemama pretty rare for a drummer to get all the attention, plus he does kinda have the lead on this one,LOL ;) very cool song and amazing drumming!
When he dropped his drum stick it would have been better if Nick Mason had picked up a ham salad baguette and played with that. That would be impressive.
This is by far the best music dvd that anyone can purchase! I suggest everyone eating an 8th of mushrooms and watching the bonus feature concert footage from beginning to end. Be prepared to melt your face off :)
@phishrox1 So true! But believe me, you don't need an extra "thing" when you are listening Live at Pompeii. You can do it if you want, but it won't be necessary. They are great enough alone, them and their music.
I think that Nick Mason is one of the best symphonic prog rock drummers ever !!!
I know there's a few, like Bill Brufford, Robert Wyatt, Carl Palmer, Keith Moon, even Phil Collins... but the energy, compenetration, syncronization, and personal support for his band in Nick, is awesome !!!
the voices at 3min20sec anyone know what the original recordings are of? its my favorite part on side 1 of meddle besides all of fearless and of course seamus
Nick does a mistake at 1:36 with the drums...you can tell there is one beat too much..and also look at his face, you can tell he knows he just fucked up..but nevertheless the best band ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..ps am i the only one who thinks there is a mistake??
In fact, there are 3 mistakes on this vid. Weird fill at 1:36, he miss the tom at 1:56, and finally the dropped stick at 4:32. Not a lot of mistakes, but contrary to a lot of video, you can SEE all of them on this one.
(Nick's drumming is awesome, apart from that, of course)

Anyone else think that the tapes of other camera angles were 'misplaced' by waters? I heard that David had to record the abss for this song, maybe Roger was a little embarresed about not being able to handle it.
actually its nick mason who sings " one of these days I am going to rip you aprt"...in case you guys didnt know...PF with roger rules! without roger, PF became a weak concept!
No problem for Nick Mason ... loosing his drum stick. It remained lost for less than 2 seconds, by which time Mason was already at work WITH 2 drum sticks, as if nothing had happened.
Apart from that ... 4:13 and onwards is pure magic from a master at work !
Random off the top comments...it's really obvious in this that Nick Mason has no formal training whatsoever. Don't get in a tizzy Mason fans...that's just an observation...not a putdown. Second...any drummer who ever had to play outdoors without heavy micing and effects knows what a bummer that is. Anyway...love the song, Mason, and the band.
As i understood it Rick Wright had no formal traning as well. Your right it is not a negative thing, quite often it produces muscians who think diffrently, whihc is good.
I was a huge Floyd fan in high school and read a number of books about the band. One book, "A Saucerful of Secrets", made mention of Nick's vocal's on this track I believe.
Me too. All of the songs get so much new levels on the pompeii versions. I'm not saying they're all better, but they're interresting and different in a really good way, which makes the dvd so good.

You have no clue what you are talking about. There are two basses on the album version. One rusty bass with old strings, and one regular bass.
The bassline is literally one fucking note. I think he could have 'handled it.'
fucktard.

Waters not being able to handle a 1-note bass run??? HAHAHAHAHA, man, you should be ashamed of saying something so retarded.
