  • What exactly ARE the measurements? Details please!

  • Very Cute!

  • does apartment therapy still exist cos i cant find it

  • @elfynlied Apartment therapy does still exist, I found it by accident when I did a GOOGLE search for "curtains without curtain rod" and that same pic. with the stick popped up just this morning. Then I came to YouTube and searched "curtains" and this was the top video....it just happens to feature the same exact photo of the curtain on the stick that I saw just a few hours ago.

  • whats top stitch mean? is that where you stitch it at the top of the curtains or something?

  • that was not the best branch

  • haha love how you said new cutaaain!

  • The curtain "Branches" that are spray painted white are Gorgeous! I got a real nice trick for designs hanging from the cieling & I've seen it nowhere.Designing w/curtains,I mean.(or alot of other things as well) Will cost you 1buck if you already have the fabric & you can hang them any way you want!.Im not telling yet.Im gonna film it.Will be even free if you already have what I have in mind..beautiful too!! The straight branch is not very attractive..(to me) sorry, but the other branch..I love!

  • thanks for the video, curtains look great

  • not cute

  • I love your outfit!

  • thanks

  • hahaha "newwwooo cuuurtaaaainnns!"

  • You have great ideas but your color choosing sucks

  • Your branch was way too small. You didn't finish the hems and left raw edges? Ugh!!! You never stated that the fabric needed to be at least twice the width of the window. Why not? What on earth were you cutting for tabs? It was a wrinkled mess. It should have been pressed before a pair of scissors ever came close to it. Take a look at videos by Schuhby. He can teach you how to make some curtains. Very very sloppy. A sewing class is in order here.

  • HELP!!!!!!!!! I am temporarily at my grandmother's house and we need to put up a curtain... I can't put holes in the wall (except small ones) and it's to divide the room were in... Can you guys help me??? PLEASE!!!!!!!

  • I finally figured out what mulling spices is. It is various spices and fruit essences infused in heated juices, wines, ciders, or brandies. It is used for flavoring hot liquids for drinking. I am sure this will answer the many questions about what mulling spices are and what's it for.

  • Too fucking long for the actual information - totally hopeless!

  • can you show how to make large floor pillows?

  • Meg's first episode!!!!

  • fucking tragic

  • gracias.. muy bonito ..now i am you fan!!

  • wait why do u need to sew the darts? they don't seem to do anything...

  • pretty cute!

  • You are too cute great entertaining personality

  • what is mulling spices, is that like air freshener?

  • hahaha "new cur-in!!!!!"

  • she's great!

  • Oh golly! She sure is!

  • i want to be more creative, then just usein a branch...besides, buying my products at wal-mart...have any ideals.. maybe makin a piece of wood with two knobs at the end...home made screw on's.. Get back To Me..

  • It might not have looked so bad if they found a better branch.

Anyway, why not just use a normal curtain rod? Using a dowel with nobs looks less creative than buying an actual rod with nobs that probably won't fall off.

You can be creative without making (by hand) every aspect of the project.

  • I think the original at 0:44 looked awesome, the branch was thinner and painted white.

  • @TheHansonHaven I really like the idea of using the branch. I don't like their branch either...Luckily I live in the middle of the woods so I don't have to worry so much about finding a good looking branch...I would def buy better looking fabric or already made curtains from the store. I think the point of the branch was to be "green" and use what the earth has given us. :D

  • Yeah, I guess you're right with the 'green' aspect of it. Using a branch is indeed green- but It has to go with your decor atleast a bit.

I have a modern room and the only 'branch' decor I could get away with is a reed diffuser or possibly a vase with painted twigs.

It's still kind of hard finding good branches... especially when you're using it for something specific and need it a 'certain way' since it is pretty much a main focus... So good luck finding a good one in those woods. =P

  • @koliver06 I didn't like the last branch as well, but it was a cool video! I am totally going to use a branch during the Christmas Holidays! We have a million evergreens ... and the added scent will be quite welcoming!

  • another idea instead of pinning, is to iron the fabric

  • This chick´s method is so easy!!! Am a total newbie at sewing and I got this drapes right every time I make them. Thank you so much for having this tool available for all of us!! Gracias!!!

  • That's wayyyy awesome.

    I'm definitely trying this.

I wonder if you can use that sew in a bottle thing for these?

  • Most likely. I have that stuff, and I use it all the time instead of sewing; it works wonders.

  • I could of done with a little bit more detail with the darts.Fun though.

  • Love your attitude girl, you make darting look easy though - fingers crossed I will get it eventually!

  • Very Creative!!! Where did you get the pink sewing machine?

  • i jus love da show....nd thanks alot threadbanger nd meg....love u guyz....i need sum help...could u pls give me sum ideas 2 decorate my room.....i want 2 knw how 2 make dat white ball stuff hangin on ur wall in megs house...nd more ideas 2 decorate my room.....thanx alot..pls reply me ..plsssssssssss......deperatly need ur help....

  • wadaya do with the mulled spices???

  • i really want a tour of your house

  • THANK YOUU ....:)))

  • I used fabric shower curtains. In the winter I take them down, wash them and add a shower curtain liner to help keep out the drafts. Under $10 and slide easily on the shower curtain hooks. Great ideas though and inspiring. Love your videos :0)

  • FABULOUS!!!

  • The world needs more women like you!

  • ooOo cute sewing machine, where'd you get it?

  • I LOVE a woman with a power tool.

  • You have inspired SO many with this branch curtain rod idea. So earth-friendly and clever.

  • the little dog is so cute! Sniffin the camera :D

  • this might be a stupid question.... but where did u get the branch??? do u just go around the place and pick up which ever one u think is right for the current???

  • Yes...mother nature provides the branch.

Just make sure there's no bugs in it...that happens sometimes.

  • lol

your cleaver !! that was kind of confuseing tho like you could have gone slower tehe!

but i mean good job on the curtains they lookd good soo would the branch if you hada painted it !! X

  • BRANCH CURTAIN ROD?!?! GENIUS! It looks awesome. So neat. And those spices, I can smell them from here. I need a way to make my home smell sweeter. I am going to go try it.

  • Can I come over? You place is so rad. You have the best ideas ever. LOVE THE SHOW!!!

  • I know! I want to go to her home. So cool.

  • So rad! A hip, cool Martha Stewart from Brooklyn. Funny AND smart. She is my hero.

  • I made my branch curtain rod and it looks awesome! Thank you, Meg.

  • great vid! I really like the tree branch curtain rod idea. I want to try that for one window in my condo and see how it looks.

I used to use spices/cinnamon but recently found adding a couple table spoons of hot coco powder to a small pot of lightly boiling water made a very pleasing and yummy hot coco scent about the house. It wasn't too strong, just very subtle but did the same trick as the cinnamon/spice mix.

  • Thank you! THAT'S how you make those cool simmering spicy things. I've always wanted to know how to do that, but never wanted to ask.

I can not wait to see more! The branch tree curtain rod? So innovative.

  • The spices make your house smell good. Really good.

  • I love seeing the little dog! She is so cute! Adds to the appeal of the show.

  • The spices make your home smell nice, especially cinnamon.

  • sorry i dont get it ..

    whats with the cooking ?

  • It's almost TUESDAY! I can't wait until the next episode!

  • So, so, so, so, cool! LOVE IT!!!!!

  • I love this new show and its hostess! Please please please keep 'em coming! My boy and I are definitley going to be using that branch idea...FABULOUS!!!

  • Holy id thread bang you!!!

  • Cinnamon and cloves SMELL REALLY LOVELY when mulled!

  • Yes, indeed. Mulling cinnamon will get rid of any unpleasant odor lingering in your home.

  • and why do you need the spices on hot water?

  • i've put up with a busted curtain in my bathroom for far too long... time for some new DIY curtains!

  • freakin cool im getting ready to make curtins for my kids room got any more DIY for kids rooms I'm also going to be an aunt for the first time in june DIY baby rooms!!!

  • The measurements for each window are different, so measure your own window and adjust accordingly. Ours was 70" x 60".

FABRIC MEASUREMENTS: Window measurements + 1-2 inches for a clean edge. Ours: 72" x 60"

    LOOP MEASUREMENTS: 5" x 9"

(May vary depending on the size of your branch or dowel)

DART MEASUREMENTS: 5" down, 1" out.

Optional, but make a cleaner look at the top.

    Thanks for watching!

    With love, Meg

  • And really adorable dog!

  • This show is freaking fantastic!!! A totally hip, green Martha Stewart. I LOVE IT!!!

Thank you for the great tip on mulling spices, they make your house smell so nice and add humidity into the air.

Great work! I can't wait until next week!

  • A better explanation of what measurements to take and how to add to them so your curtains will be long enough would be appreciated. Also, why does the top need to be darted?

  • When I hung the curtain without the darts, it had parts of the fabric on top the puffed out letting light in. The darts made for a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing look.

  • That makes sense.

  • That makes sense.

  • I totally agree with notamirror's comment... the directions for the curtains were sort of vague and the end result not so great. Also, why not mull the spices in some apple cider? Strain it, and that way you can enjoy the smell and the taste!

  • What a fantastic idea!!!!!

  • I didn't get the end? She cooks spices? What for? Can someone explain, please? Thanks.

  • she's mixing the spices together so they blend better. I think it makes rooms smell good or it's for cooking '~' dont know.

  • Mulling spices make your home smell REALLY GOOD! I live in an old Brooklyn apartment, that needs a little sense help. Mulling spices is my solution.

  • Please please Pet DYI projects. I'm begging now.

    (she has the cutest dog!!!)

  • I know! I want to make something for my pet!

  • Yeah pets are important too! You've had a baby episode, why not a pet one?

  • sorry about the double post. u.u

  • Yeah pets are important too! You've had a baby episode, why not a pet one?

  • Good idea, I love my animals and would love to see something for them. Your dog is so cute!

  • Hideous!!!!!

    DYI shouldn't be ugly

  • Your totally right....thats why they really call the non hideous version....DIY

  • Dear Rob, you rock. wuv, ladyjanewriter.

  • This is great! me and my Mum are in the process if buying a new home. if we get it then im going ot be liveing in the basement which is a legal apartment ( its has a small kitchen and a small bathroom ect) This show will be prefect! Threadbangers saves the day again!

  • Thanks?

  • The hostess has a sorta annoying voice, but other than that...im really glad to see a home version of thread bangers.

    -luke.

  • thanks.

  • oh my girlfriend would kill to have a pink sewing machine like that

  • ¥T

  • that branch she used looks awful :( also, you didn't explain what to used mulled spice for.

  • They make your home smell really good, which I was trying to indicate by smelling them. Perhaps it didn't read.

  • I didn't understand either. Does it just work while it's cooking and then you throw it out, or do you keep it in a jar or do something else with it after?

  • I'm glad to see a new show up on threadbanger!

  • This was a very cool beginning.

One request, though: could you give us the measurements you are using? Even if each person's curtains would be a different size, it would be good to get an idea of what proportions the measurements need to have. How much wider than the window? How long are the darts? If you know of different variations we could try, suggest them too. Many of us are real newbies.

I'm looking forward to future episodes!

  • Any ideas for making a desk for under a loft bed? I want to make one out of a door, but I don't know how it would be held up. Filing cabinets are supposed to be good for that, but they're very expensive for a student like me.

  • My brother made a desk out of his old door when he went to school; he used milk crates filled with books to hold it up.

Just an idea. Milk crates are cheaper than filing cabinets. lol

  • go hit up some HUGE CORPORATE places... they're always throwing out junk... just ask for it.

  • I've been looking at new home decor stuff this is great! Thanks!

  • WOW I love this new part of threadbangers with Home decor! Perfect addition! Plus the hostess and her home looks great for the part! yey threadbangers =)

  • what was the point of the darts?

  • When I hung the curtain without the darts, it had parts of the fabric on top the puffed out letting light in. The darts made for a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing look.

  • That actually makes sense, thanks.

  • Any time, bring on the home DIY questions!

  • this is what we've been waiting for! you can call me stoked!

  • wouldn't it be terribly hard to pull the curtains open/closed? it'd just keep snagging on the branch.

    -ch

  • Not at all, simply tie the curtain with a ribbon or tab to pull it aside. Or attach a loop or hook to one side, and that will draw your fabric back.

    Always a solution!

  • Yeah. I thought that too

  • Just pull them to the side or something, no big deal. They look so rad.

  • Definitely. Solution!

  • ooooo I'm excited for this new show! very fun!

  • shes like a young Martha Stewart

  • happy 100th episode!

  • Nice curtons, Good show!
