  • Awwwww I use to be just like her when I was little :) then I joined band, and became a band geek ^.^

  • did someone come up with the name of the instrument?

    michael

  • @mettanc Yes Michael...apparently it's called a tongue drum!

    I have no idea why.

    Thanks for watching.

    Hugs

  • That's a recorder unless you mean the wooden box thing used as a percussion instrument... I don't know what that is called.

  • @phekwig Yup that's a recorder and we have a couple of 'real' wooden ones around somewhere..it was that flat wooden thing I was trying to find the name of and from what I gather now it is called a Tongue Drum.

    Thanks and hugs. :-)

  • I have a similar drum like that, that my dad made. He said it was an african drum but I don't know the name. I couldn't find it on Musician's Friend. I see now on one of your comments that you had found the name. Hope your Easter was great! xoxoxo

  • @genmama1955 Hi Lee Ann...yes apparently it is a tongue drum but I don't know for sure...that would seem like an odd name to me.

Yes we had a lovely Easter thank you...hope yours was good too.

    Hugs

  • @MrStumpie2 Hi Warren....I keep it well hidden most of the time because as you say you could drive a person crazy pounding on that! LOL

  • @beachfrontal We have a lot of instruments and have seen to it that the children and grandchildren are exposed to music and how it is made and the value of it at an early age. Jessica's daddy plays guitar and sings. Jessica's grandfather plays piano, organ and harmonica.

  • Well, if you must know... I think this is a home made wood Tongue Drum that can be played with the fingers, sticks or hammers like drum sticks or mallets as used on an xylophone. Chris has done well in his accompaniment with daughter Jessica on the playing the 'flute' so lively!

    Well done you two!

  • @johnnyould Thanks John...I was too dang tired to look it up! :-)

  • Bravo ! The last time that I heard the Uma Cuma song played so well, was when I journeyed to Umaland itself and the inhabitants welcomed me with it. They taught me the wild monkey dance and oh, it was wonderful. Thankyou Chris and Jessica for your awesome rendition! hugs, Chris

  • @bugsinrug we tried so hard to get it right but I got lost on "uma ima tree stand". Anyway well done I'd say.

  • @bugsinrug Oh it was a rousing rendition Chris...much like one we did years ago on the front porch whilst sitting around the table which was once there.

Yes very reminiscent of the wild monkey dance.

    Love ya!

  • @billyCtv Billy! n You of all people being so knowledgeable and all...I thought for sure would know!

    Hugs and love ya.

  • I like the sound of the wooden thing :)

  • @AxeMoose Me too Dave but I'll be darned if I can recall the name of it.

  • How cool is that and what an interesting instrument! I don't have a clue what you call it, though. lol

  • @Neferkit I think I'm going to have to search the Internet of the name of this one.

    Thanks for watching.

  • This is the Uma Cuma song (cover). I hope YouTube doesn't flag this too.

Very well played Jessica , you did awesome :-)

  • @patchcords Yes she did Chris...and so did you....thanks for the little tune there... ;-)
