IDK... my iguana does the same thing as the alligator (open her mouth and does the same moves) and it's because she is hungry. She don't try to byte you, but it's a behavior or signal that wants to be feed!
but then again, it's way harder to train a alligator than dogs. because alligator and bite your hand off. so alligator is the boss. you gotta obey him if you don't wanna be chopped off
This is awesome. I've been doing similiar things with my cornsnake, and he'll sit still let me rub his head and chin now without moving away. Just patience, and respect :)
It seems anxious at first, feeling like the hand is either a threat or food, then it settles down as it realizes the hand brings a pleasant feeling...
its been feed already and probably run under some cold water so its not responsive or aggressive as it could be
