  • how nuch was it to have it installed????? :) thanks nice vid

  • Damn, I should really move on from this stuff. Two years ago I got a new electric guitar because I was taking a guitar class in school and I was a boss. But that summer my mom sold it without telling me and I was so damn sad because it was my first guitar and I was just getting started...

So thumbs up for keeping your guitar where your heart is...

  • Do divebombs last forever too?

  • Cool. I'd rather do the coil tap then for I know what that is. I look at alot of Schecters that has that/ The Hellraisers. A Sustainiac would sound killer in a Hellraiser. Maybe if the new S series guitars for next year has coil tap I will get a Sustainiac installed. I'm either going for a C-1 FR, a Solo 6, or an Avenger FR if one will be in the new series. Any of them will be in the dark blue burst finish though and I'm hoping they will have the coil tap.

  • Nice. I like the tone of the top pickup. Is those 2 extra switches required though?? I would like to get a Sustainiac pickup on all my guitars but don't want to do any wood work if not needed. I want to do just a standard install like normal pick ups. Thanks.

  • @jedimastergarcia87 Those are 2 mini toggle switches that were drilled and added in. There is an option though to use a coil tap type of knob to do the switching. Basically you pull up on it to engage, pull up on another to switch modes. That would require no woodwork, just some extra wiring

  • So many Invader/Sustainer fanboys!

There are other pickups out there that work better with the Schecter bodies, with less mud at high gain, especially from the DiMarzio line.

  • Brompton Cocktail :-)

  • 401 or 101 ???

  • Brompton Cocktail :) A7X FoREVer

  • I love how you jump strait into Brompton Cocktail with distortion! I get my Ibanez complete with an Invader and a sustainiac tomorrow :D

  • could you put this under a case like a p90 cos i have a fender jazzmaster and i would like to have this pickup in the neck position but it would look dumbass and im wondering if there is anyway of covering it up also do you have to be a genus to fit one of these?

  • what music at the begin pal?

  • Sustaniac pickups aren't any more difficult to install that any regular PUP... you just need to know how to complete a circuit. . . Its a standard bucker casing so it wont require any routing for humbucking guitars. The pot should fit in place of the old neck pup volume pot. (you may need to ream the hole for a different diameter shaft, but thats cake) Its literally as intuitive and as easy as it seems.

  • if i had a guitar with 4 controls and took a pick up and switched it with a sustianiac would i have to re route everything?

  • @thatonekidd111 you can actually control the sustainiac from a push/pull knob which you could use incase of a les paul style configuration. you probbaly wouldnt have to re-route the entire guitar just the neck pickup/new switches. check out their website (i can't put links on here for some reason) and see the routing options

  • @stratman1239 yeah like i have a les paul with the four knobs, it would be possible to swap neck pickups and the two knows to the on/ off and harmonize switches?

  • haha thats syns setup on his guitar they should make the customs with a sustainiac in the neck

  • Ha,Brompton Cocktail,perfect use of the sustainiac

  • fuck me those pick-ups r clean. what amp r u useing there ?

  • ha AVENGED SEVENFOLD makes it a ton better,=, foREVer

  • I have a Schecter Hellraiser Avenger without a Floyd Rose. Will it just be stupid to get a sustainer if i don't have a Floyd Rose or would it still be cool?

  • @Aragorn87891 Kinda silly to do it, to be honest.

  • You goin' for the Synyster set-up?

  • how can i get a sustainiac neck pickup?!

  • @xHeadBangeRx1100 goto their website you can order one off of there

  • @xHeadBangeRx1100 Just buy one,But I think the Fernandez 401 kit is the sickest Sustainer I have in my guitars.I like the Sustainiac dont get me wrong but in my case the Fernandez works best for me.I suggest test driving each before investing.

  • looks like the schecter synyster used before his synyster costum

  • What is that song, you play at beginning.. Or is it a song?

  • @elzupelzu Brompton Cocktail from Avenged Sevenfold if you mean when the sound is distorted

  • @RedXIndustries No just the first clean part he plays.

  • Way to go, Gates configuration :p

  • @stratman1239 Is it worth putting a Sustainiac pickup in a guitar without a trem?

  • here's a question what the hell is sustainiac??? ha somebody help

  • @rhdes it's the neck pickup on this guitar. there is a driver in it that will vibrate the strings to sustain them longer. theres also a switch to change the tone from just the note being held to like a 3rd up.

  • @stratman1239 u r right but i think its being held a 5th up

  • where do u buy the kit?

  • Hello if i buy that sustainiac kitt for my guitar, have there those two pull switches where you can select you`r bridge pickup humbucker or singlecoil. And can i replace my existings switches those?

  • justput one of these into my synyster custom, looks just like his now, switches and all

  • @MrCherryKush yea I know what you mean I wish you could use it to sustain the next as well but you can only sustain the bridge. I just bought a syn custom as well I've been thinking about getting it instlled in there as well. Glad I could be of assistance.

  • Ok.... I Know that the sutainiac Is a Neck pickup. Does it sound like a neck pickup ( With the sustian and octave switch) or does it sound like a bridge installed in the neck with a lot of sustain.... Im trying to find this out before i buy one. Ive heard both.

  • @MrCherryKush when the sustainiac is engaged, what you hear is the bridge pickup with the sustain/octaves. You cannot use the sustainiac AND the neck pickup tone, it's always the bridge pickup when the sustainiac is on. When it is off, however, you can use the sustainiac as a normal neck pickup and it sounds like a neck pickup (see my video). If you have any more questions please feel free to message me or leave me another comment on here. Thank you!

  • @stratman1239 Oh.... Cuz I was wanting to sustain the neck pickup because it tone is really nice. I got the schecter synyster custom. So i was wanting to buy that...

  • How much was it to get it installed?

  • @leibstandarte109 it was like 250 plus shipping which was around 40$, so almost 300

  • @stratman1239 Total $300 + installing? What currency is that in?

  • @Acckai American Dollars

  • Niiice

  • damn you did the same set up i'd like to make :O white c1 fr white invaders and i'd put a white sustainiac in it ,,killer guitar bro

  • xGuitarStianx, this pickup basically allowes the note to ring out for an extremly long period of time. Im not sure where syn put his switch but i think it is somewhere behing his floyd rose. He uses both pickups when he plays. That gives him the sound of the invader with tje longer sustian. Hope i helped :)

  • So what does the sustainiac system do? How do you install it, and where do you install the switch? Where does Syn have his switch? And, on which song uses he the neck pickup?! I thought he only used Bridge..

  • you would need to get a push pull tone pots to cut your invaders in 2 and using only 1 side for clean thats what i got on my syn custom

  • i love syn's guitar.......

    thumb up

  • Brompton Cocktail! Nice Guitar btw

  • Brompton Cocktail \m/

  • syn's new pick up! yeah!

  • how's your bridge pickup called??

  • @noprofile7 duncan invader

  • You really need to work on your feel dude.

  • @Cervoni12 yea not the best vid just screwing around demo-ing the guitar..i've been meaning to upload a new video just havent gotten around to making one

  • @stratman1239 Ooh okay, well yeah just saying, cuz you can have syn's exact setup, but if you don't have feel and soul in your playing, you won't sound like him. That's what I love about his playing is it's so like feeling-ful haha idk how to explain it

  • does it work in any neck position

  • Ok so im thinking of getting a schecter and replacing the pickups to Syn's setting, Invader and Sustaniac (I see youre a fan too :D), was it about $300 for the Sustaniac AND the invader or just the sustaniac? and what wood do you reccomend for this setup? mahogany?

  • @therockcommando i know that the invader is $79

  • little bit of a syn setup going there? haha schecter with the invader in the bridge and the sustainiac.. nice bro!

  • @swishitjoey yes yes that was the idea! lol i love his sound/style so i thought what the hell!

  • @swishitjoey Yea the guy definitely has good taste in pick-ups, back in 2001 I was replacing the P/Us in an epiphone korina explorer and got an invader for the bridge and told the guy at mars music that I wanted a real smooth clean/pretty pickup for the neck and he recommended the pearly gates and I've loved the combo ever since. Its perfect in my opinion(not to mention the fact that theres a great lead player endorsing it) really makes me feel even better about my choice!!!

  • @CrazyCraigy101 Its a setting on the sustainer to make it go to the 5th harmonic. I think so anyway ^^

  • @Guitareben yes this is exactly right...when you switch from normal to harmonic modes on the sustainer it goes up to the harmonic squeal on command, pretty cool!

  • how much did the customization cost??? in gbp if you can but if not dollars is fine

  • @ryananzo it was around 300$ american for the install/parts since i had the guys at sustainiac do it, so in GBP it would be around 200 GBP give or take depending on shipping and stuff

  • @stratman1239 thanks

  • Incredible sustain. I'm about to buy a sustainer but don't know which one, between the fernandes sustainer fsk-401 or the sustaniac. I have an ibanez rg 350dx (h-s-h)(24 frets). Which one would you recommend?

  • @alepaan definetely the sustainiac, i wasnt a fan of the fernandes, sorry it took so long to respond!

  • hey man what would you pair with the invader at the bridge? not sure of my guitar woods, and I'll only be doing DI to my pc anyways

looked into the JB or '59 but not quite sure how those would be for metal? any input would be welcomed :)

  • I would go Invader in Neck as well. But if you want either a JB or 59 the JB would be better.

I suggest going to the Seymour Duncan website and look at the Progressive Pickups and find which one suites you best.

  • @redoubt9000 ummm i'd look into the JB those are really nice for hard rock/metal with the invader....sorry it took so long, haven't been on here to check much lately!

  • @redoubt9000: jazz or a '59 all the way

  • what song is that in the beginning

  • @TOPGUNxSLIDER at the beginning it's just something i was screwing around with then some brompton cocktail by a7x

  • where'd u get that awesome guitar?

  • pretty fuckin awesome!

what was the song in the beginning ? sounds like pantera but i'm not sure i Know it!

  • are these things hard to tune and restring?

im a strat looking for a guitar for my metal needs

  • yeah the floyd rose is kind of difficult to get used to at first. Theres definitely a learning curve to restring and tune the floyd

  • Dude you gotta do a divebomb with that sustainer. ;)

  • why do people like to take out the EMGs? they sound a lot better then invaders

  • well mine didn't come with EMGs to begin with, as for the sound difference, i have 2 guitars equipped with EMGs i didn't want that sound with this guitar

  • @Xxsynysterg8sxX Invader sound better for solo. Emg is better for rythm because you don't need single microphone for one string because you play them all at a time.

  • nice brompton cocktail there

  • and nice playing of Brompton Cocktail there. :) this might be one of my favorite videos ever. hahaha howd you get the white cover on the invaders?

  • hey man thanks a lot that means a lot...as for the invaders, you can get them with all different color covers on them i got mine on eBay just search google for white seymour duncan invader

  • i seriously have that exact same guitar, minus the sustainiac. so thanks for this vid!

  • just so you know, they specifically say on the sustainiac website that the sustainiac is not coil tapable so i'm not sure what's going on at 0:54, other than that great demo

  • @nemovgi yeah i know that's what i thought as well when i sent it in for the install i just wanted to have them coil tap the SD Invader, but the guy called me and asked if i wanted both tapped and I asked him if that was possible, because i had read that as well, and he said it's not a real coil tap like you would do to a passive pickup, it merely switches the pickup between it's humbucker sound and single coil sound which you can change on the circuit board in the back with one adjustment.

  • ah yes i see. when mine arrives in a few days it will be permanently in humbucker sound simply because its replacing the humbucker pickup, i forgot it can be wired to switch between single coil and humbucker sounds

  • what amp are you using?? sounds great!

  • I'm using a Peavey Triple XXX with a Line 6 4x12 cab (not the smaller Spider ones, it's a full size cab). Thanks!

  • When you get the Sustainiac installed, do you get the harmonic switch thing too?

    Cheers

  • Yep.

  • Sweet, thanks :)

  • Cool, finally a sound demo of the sustainiac working as a pickup!!

If you have more demos, I'd be curious to hear them. :D

  • sweet demo, I'm actually planning on putting one of these in my synyster custom, make it more authentic :)

  • Well I sent it away to maniac music (the company that makes the Sustainiac) they did all the installation as well as coil tapping and installing the bridge pickup.

  • coil tap is really easy to do i wouldnt have payed them to do it.

  • i didnt, they had to rewire the entire guitar when they installed the sustainiac and all i had to do was pay 5$ for the push pull pots.

  • cool. im gonna get one and put it in myself tho, i dont got $100+ to spare for installation.

  • theyre awesome its a lot of fun...i'm not too good with wiring and i didnt wanna fuck up the guitar by doing a half ass job myself so i had them do it, but if youre good with that stuff go for it!

  • Was it difficult to install the sustainiac? did it require any altering of the guitar body?

  • i had the company install it, and they had to drill 2 holes in it for the push pull switches

  • i got a fernadez sustainer 101 its a pain in the butt to hook u, you got to rewire your whole guitar, its really hard if you got a 3 way switch , 5 way switch is not too bad

  • Great demo, any issues so far? thinking of putting one of these in my guitar

  • no issues at all actually, its really a nice system i love it...one thing though, the high strings do not respond as well to the magnetic pulses the sustainiac puts out, the low strings respond better, this is completely normal the only way they'd all vibrate with equal intensity would be to have an individual sustainer for every string

  • What amp are you playing through?

  • peavey triple xxx head and a line 6 4x12 slant (the ones for the vetta amps they make, not the smaller spider 4x12 cabs)

  • Brompton Cocktail, good choice for the distortion channel pimp juice!!!!!
