Abolutely great.. Complete nutcases ....one of my favourite groups in the 70's. Just found this video.....made my day.....they just got on with it....none of this X factor rubbish. Followers of current rock groups don't know what they missed .
@tnucasisusej The first half of the 70's was when Glamrock ruled, the more outrageous the image the better was the way things were back then.David Bowie,Marc Bolan & T-Rex and The Sweet were all part of it too.
i adore this song and love Roy Wood. But sadly this song makes me cry. my mam died when this was number 1, and it was playing on the radio when i was told she had died. and now whenever i hear it i'm transported back to being 9years old and in total shock. it's not even a sad song is it? funny how music can affect you. i was once in a supermarket and it came on, i had to walk out.
@divernater oh dear? wow you truly are gay. not just for liking this gay yob music , but you come off gay in the way you type your responses. Hawk wind yes, this garbage no. Lucifer friend yes Slade no. i still wish i would of never found this lump of shit band on youtube.
just so fantastic to see these old vids again , Woody was and still is one of the greatest , brilliant fantastic superb wonderful splendid , this was true fun !! Just imagine if they turned up on X Factor ha ha , they just wouldn't know what hit em !! True true performing entertainment !!!!!!!
@OldOldOakMan The 70's were a fun time for music, loved the whole glam rock scene.X-factor would have turned Wizzard into a joke act,so i am guessing Mr Walsh would have mentored them.....and ruined them :)
Roy Wood was the Lady Gaga of Phil Spector Wall of Sound tribute acts.
I suppose to continue the category of silly simile, then late period John Lennon was the Bob Dylan of Phil Spector Wall of Sound tribute acts, and Brian Wilson was the Syd Barrett... etc.
Tracy Ullman was the Matt Greoning, Amy Winehouse was the Mama Cass, (Too Soon?) Actually Mama Cass was the Mama Cass, considering she did a pretty good Phil Spector herself! (eg. Monday Monday, This is Dedicated to the one I love etc.)
One of the greatest songs ever. The glam rock days turned out some amazing tunes that sound fantastic even now. But this one is a real diamond. Roy Wood knew how to create stuff.
@2Shaymcn those sax players are smokin when elo first started getting hits roy didnt want to go on stage first because the group was his idea and jeff didnt want to go on first cause he was singing the hits it was an uncomforatable situation so roy left
amazing song... amazing costumes. This is probably the height of Western culture.

@alanbstard4 Roy Wood was a great talent, that's why he was arseholed from ELO...........Apart from the fact that he's Scottish!

This song was released in April so why does it remind me of Christmas ?
merlimax 2 months ago
@merlimax Probably because of its similarity to another Wizzard track - 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day'.

I was 12 when this was released. I always thought the lyrics were "See my baby die".
Which fits quite well but much more macabre.
38 years later I've just discovered what the real lyrics are & what the song was about. :-0 Great tune.
