@talontraininggroup Thanks for the great video. The xd9 was my first pistol and I learned to clean it from this video. The only thing I do differently is that I run a boresnake through the barrel about 10 to 12 times rather than using patches. Do you think this works as well as the brush and patches?
@TardyTheTurtleOG I would clean it each time I shoot, or every few months at least lube it and wipe it down. It would depend on where you keep it. I recently had a gun handed to me that was spotless, but, was locked up.
The oil was old and had frozen up. I don't know why. Good to lube a stored gun occassionally. I would clean after a day at the range though.
@LETTOISBACK You want to put an patch with oil down the barrel if the firearm is going to be stored for awhile. It prevents the barrel from rusting. You want to run a clean patch down to barrel to get the oil before you shoot it next.
@Reokue Thanks i appreciate it. i actually went to the range yesterday and cleaned it for the first time when i got back. My brother used to clean it for me cuz i bought it off him. lol.
well done thanks for the info. are you a pistolsmith? im curiose about lubing the part in the middle of the slide. the silver strip part. does that need to be lubed? you mentioned it but i dont know what that rubs up against. i would love to know . thanks again
Hey great video! Have you tried DuPont Multi sue wax spray in the blue bottle? It says for firearms and it works wonders. Using it on the barrel and the slide rails works magic! It has a mild cleaning ability that helps t repel debris. My favorite product was Break Free CLP until it went to Winchester CLP! I tried the DuPont because I use it on motorcycle chains and I know how good it works. It dries greasy less, it is not like Rem Dry Lube, it is 100 times better, You should try it, :)
@talontraininggroup Love the video I wish you would do one for the S & W or any other 1911 on field stripping & lubing, Question ? have you or do you reccommend using any type of a grease like Slide- Guide on the XD's or they don't need grease ? I generally lube all of my firearm's with EEZOX love the stuff as it work's & dries clear & prevent's rust great, Again great video & your speaking is clear & understandable, Thank's again.PS what's in the white bottle that your using for lube ?
Great video, thanks alot. New to the Pistol community... Can you use CLP for lube on the rails?"is that good enough or do you need a heaver oil" like in the video? thanks
My brother didn't clean his sights for about a year (including when his gun was swimming in cola when it was in his lunch box and a can burst) and all the corners are rusted. S&W gun oil got a lot of the corrosion off though. very good vid 5 stars
Great video, much appreciated. Everything I needed to know in one video.

YOU FORGOT TO MENTION, BUT CLEARLY SHOWED, THAT YOU PULL THE TRIGGER BEFORE REMOVING THE SLIDE FROM THE FRAME.

Thanks for the video. I was always taught to not oil the recoil spring, just wipe it down. It is self lubricating.

Make sure your guide rod/spring assy are aligned correctly or you may get a jammed slide. Don't forget to clean your magazines too.
