  • according to the link, evo: 1:06.8, sti: 1:05.4

  • both cars in their natural habitat

  • It's tighter... by tight i mean not as loose... The other one is looser, not as tight.... Great description.... Nice job motortrend..... *sigh*

  • 3:46 the guys who like Subaru will all ways like the sti.......this guy is full retard

  • If I had a choice.. Id go for a verryy nice evo 6,, maybe the TME edition..

  • intelligent mode the whole time? these guys are idiots lol

  • My 2010 wrx on all seasons sucks in the snow

  • Why does that Evo have such a small wing? Thats the wing size found on the lower/base model Lancers...

  • @MrLolololXD THat model of the Evo has the performance of the MR, but toned-down looks for those who can't handle the Evo's beauty.

  • Evo the best !

  • being an evo owner it makes sense why an evo would be better in snow. the "fully symmetrical AWD" that subaru uses is great on the road but when your on a slippery surface you would want the power to shift around to get the best traction like the AYC that an evo has

  • @lepps5555 I would say the exact opposite. In slippery conditions having all wheels spinning equally is more important then having the majority of torque going to the outside wheel. Thats because it snow, its the wheel with the least amout of traction, unlike it is on pavement. What you want is lots of locking. That gives you more stability and traction. That is what the system in the subaru is designed for, where as the system in the evo is designed for on road agility.

  • @lepps5555 They should have put the diff in auto with [+] on which is the snow setting. I have an '08 and it is great in the winter. That is one of the advantages of the scoobie, more than just 3 diff settings.

  • Most people posting here have never, and probably will never, drive much less own either of these cars. Using tv shows as a basis for poorly constructed opinions only makes one sound like a twat.

  • If you wanted the STi to be a little looser feeling they could've used the DCCD to full open instead of almost full lock and use sport mode.

  • @SoulReaver301 Agreed fully.

  • What the hell did this prove?

  • @tleverproductions EHM.. I think it's the opposite ;) Tecnically the evo is more advanced and balanced.. watch Top Gear test

  • @parellistyle89 topgear is biased:) sti is really better:) thats my personal opinion.

  • STI (:

    luv the hatchbacks

  • Why is there a section of the STI's front bumper missing at 3:44 ???

  • @caa042892 LOL ur right there is prob crashed aha

  • Evo :)

  • Wait why does the Evo have the regular Lancer rear wing and not the Evo's Larger Rear Wing??

  • So basically evo maybe better with the steering response? I'd say after seeing this vid that noobies would drive the STI and experts would use the EVO. That's basically the gist of the vid...

  • Both car's are great, but the video sucks, they sey that they put on cars Continental winter tires, if you look carefuly, you see that EVO drives with ADVAN's.

  • Evo=Boss

  • To me the Evo ended at 9 but ill take the STI over the Evo10

  • i fall in love with lancer

  • Why didn't they say the times for anything? I know they'd be pretty bad compared to regular conditions but they said they had the times and since they were comparing them, wouldn't that be nice to include?

  • @bugattti1

Because it was a tire commercial featuring these two cars, lol. They said more about the tires than the cars. Should have been named "Continental Tire Commercial featuring Sti and Evo), lol.

  • @bugattti1 So they an sell you a magazine later.

  • evo of course is the best

  • Two same cars...

BTW, I dont know why, but I would pick an older EVO 6 or Impreza 22b instead of these new...

  • Intelligent = Slow mode

  • This is why you buy an STI or Evo....While every one else garage's theres..you take it out and use it what it's meant for... AWD is more fun when it's actually used

  • @RsBl0gger91 you can garage a car and still enjoy it. You don't buy a car to just trash it and have fun with it. You take care of it while having fun at the same time. these cars aren't indestructible. they are meant to be driven, in any condition. Not just snow...

  • EVO is dead, good riddance!

  • why did they use the hatchback sti?

  • @heinekd It's been proven to have better handling than the sedan model.

  • its always evo and sti. why did toyota stop the all trac

  • js, i like evo's and sti's, im not biased, there both amazing

  • "guys who like [cars] will always prefer the wrx sti, guys who like [tv's] will always prefer the evo"

  • @tleverproductions i watch tv, i never see evos, i watch speed, usually alot of subis, not to many evos, and now you are trying to tell me that i dont like cars cause i dont want a wrx, i perfer evo for a few reasons, first of all, the performance factor, the one time cure for no balls.... and no, i dont really like tv, i perfer doing funner things, like your sister...

  • well at it because of this the perform very well on the 1/4 as well as auto cross 4 doors back seats or not I like 2 doors sports cars but these two are in a class of there own and personally I think they out shine a lot of cars on the market I mean hell there two of the fastest on the market and this video did not for promoting what these cars can truly do

  • people are right these are not sports cars mustang, camaro are but mustang and camaro for example can not be race on the same tracks as a evo or sti two tottaly different styles of cars a mustang is built more for drag and autocross put a mustang on gravel dirts mud ice snow and will more than likely get let alone I can not see one of these coming a foot or more of the ground when coming off a hill. now a evo and sti are built for snow, ice, mud, sand, gravel jumps hills all in mind and they do very

  • SUBARU #winning

  • lol california plates.... yeah that evo will be completely stock forever

  • these guys drive like my neighbor...she takes forever to park her car in her garage....

  • Correction....you need Tanner Foust to properly test these cars.

  • is the STI-EVO rivalry like the Mustang-Camaro rivalry?

  • @sixDUMBbeaners yeah, its pretty much the same thing... sti drivers are inherently faggots, its the truth...

  • @TheEvoXFreak i dont even consider these true sports cars. i think the real sports cars are the 2 seaters and other various super cars. well i guess these are a step above a honda Si

  • @sixDUMBbeaners I mean, when someone says "sports car" you think of 911s and ferraris, but I guarantee you that my evo will lap just about any track at about the same speed (maybe even faster) as a 911 or a f360... The evo and the sti were designed with the track in mind... "sports car" can mean many things... just because it has 4 doors does not mean that it is not a "sports car".

  • @sixDUMBbeaners man hold on, The Evo and Sti is a GT series car. They wasn't really meant for the road to begin with. Th are race cars for the track lol

  • HAHA YOU TWO ARE JUST JOKESTERS.

  • where are they driving at...IT LOOKS LIKE FUNN o.o

  • SERVICE REQ'D!!!

  • seems to be the mitsubishi is looser becuz of its weight and length...best guess idk really LOL......91 HONDA HATCH IS MY THANG SORRY!!

  • ok, i need an honest opinion do not pick sides now please go with the real facts. Which car is more reliable? for modding and daily driving, and beating on it...lol

  • @sergsrt8 suby more reliable

  • @demarcoambrose are u sure, u talk like a 5 year old kid.....lol

  • @demarcoambrose BS. 4g63 = one of the best engines of all time.

  • @asickorphan1 in terms of "beating on" almost any subaru is more reliable than the mitsubishi. In terms of engine reliability, I'd still go for the subaru.

  • @demarcoambrose And where do you know this from?

  • @sergsrt8 Subaru is better for reliability. but the Evo's engine is capable of more power from the stock block, the big known issue for the Evo is that their transmissions are known to break when theyre beat on all the time

  • @omgzers yea, i heard the tranny is better in the sti....thanks

  • @omgzers

the only problem I ever had with my evo IX is the clutch. Gearbox is pretty alright, and the car is very reliable altough i have 100hp more than stock. I don't know much about the Subaru but I think it's also a good car. But as he said, the Evo is more fun because of less understeer (especially in snow). and i don't like how the Subaru looks (except the new sedan)

  • STI always

  • Sti is missing drivers side air damn. Crash it? hmm whats that say?

  • this vid is a bit flawed too.. dont you think they should be comparing the evo with the 4 door impreza instead of the hatchback version?

  • GOD stoppp using the damn hatchback for all the tests for christs sake its a disgrace

  • Sooooooo?

  • in the beggening the guy on the right looks stoned

  • So what he is saying is that the evo is a slut?

  • @theburgerboy rofl, yeah i think he was because no car reviewer should be using words like tight and loose without any other explanation when comparing two cars driving capabilities.

  • still would pick the impreza over an evo any day

  • ALL THINGS ARE BETTER TIGHT....

    drifts

    wheel allignment

    vaginas

    asses

    tits

    EVERYTHING!

    subaru ftw!

  • @peniez800 lol, EVO 4 LIFE MATE !

  • Gotta love my EVO!

  • 2 min talking about how good withertires is -.-

  • What I learned from this is, I can drive in circles in the snow.. :p

  • So now know how to drive in circles in the snow??

  • i think i watched the same clip 10 times...

  • evo maintenance required

  • Have Marcus Gronholm drive it.

  • Let me save you five min, these guys suck and they don't have the stones to have an opinion, might as well watch a tire commercial, they edit it so it looks like these studless minivan tires work great on snow covered ice.

  • Kept skipping ahead waiting for the commentary to stop and the video to start but no... nothing.... FFFFFFF

  • Haha, its the real Eli from Eli's dirty jokes!!!!

  • packers beanie ftw!!! o and sti

  • Haha SUBARU WINS! Just like women, you want it on the tight side!

  • is that guy bubbles ( trailer park boys ) older normal brother ... jesus fucking christ ricky, the mitsu is fucking brilliant...

  • At 3:49 the Evo from the back looks like a 2002 Renault Laguna with a really bad rear spoiler lol! Or is that just me?

  • Step one remove dick from mouth before talking

  • These cars and this place is a combination so beautiful!

  • that guy sounds like he is gonna freeze to death haha

  • screw continental snow tyres, you want a set of studded tyres

  • and THE STI WINS AGAIN!!!

    love my STI

  • umm wat was the point of this video i didnt see no vs on the evo or wrx.. wow

  • continental tiers suck dick

  • evo x looked better than ugly subaru.

  • @nanashiinomiko as usual and always :-)

  • the lancer is a million times better looking then the subaru

  • id sell YOUR kid for either of those cars

  • Honestly I would grab the STi because of the audi AWD system they borrowed. And the overall sexiness/quality.

  • the subaru looked looser to me, and more understeer, the evo looked well balanced with a slight oversteer but overall tighter line.

  • guys, you need to stop reviewing cars, seriously. Gravel instead of snow and say the car is loose? INTELLIGENT in the STI ? Are you joking? All this looked like KIA vs "choose another shit women city car" review not like two rally monsters.

  • you need Travis pastrana and Ken block to really test these cars

  • @comrad575 Travis does not compare with Ken.

  • @sirlaughsalot15 And Ken doesn't compare to foreign drivers...

  • @comrad575 implying pastrami and block are the best drivers...get out noob...

  • @comrad575 HAHAHAHA! No you need Collin McRae and Gigi Galli to test them.

  • @comrad575 and rob dyrdek

  • @comrad575 they arent even good how about some WRC drivers?

  • @comrad575 - What we really need is Travis and Ken to take over the shitty excuse of a Top Gear show we have in the states. The UK version is a MILLION times better. I wont even watch the US version.

  • @comrad575 why ken block?

  • @comrad575 pastrana needs to stick to 2 wheels

  • @comrad575 only ken block sucks at rally, so no

  • @comrad575 So they can both suck at driving them?

  • I got a big fackin Boner right now!

  • both r junk

  • @blazzing4321 im guessing you dont drive junk?

  • 2006 evo FTW 2005 sti FTW

  • I like his hat GO PACK GO!!!

  • lol service required on the evo

  • @XtremshareGaming That light comes on when the TCS or the settings are messed with.

  • these guys are on snow.......why use the gravel setting jw??? there is SNOW setting lol probably why the car feels loose

  • i concluded nothing from these tests.

  • @Evo2nr90 I agree and I'm a Subie fan. So long as fans of both these cars exist there will never be a clear winner and that's me being as unbiased as possible

  • i bet the service needed lite is on 100% of the time on that evo :D

  • @SubarusRawesome haha, nah man, evo's don't break that easily, they arn't true DSMs lol. im an owner of an STi by the way :D so no bias views here.

  • man that would be so much fun

  • shitty drivers = shitty reviews

  • "we left it in intelligent mode the whole time" you sir are an asshole!

  • what a shit review. anyways. subaru for life.

  • think of it like women. . . do you really want a "looser" car?

  • in conclusion: evo is a "looser" car lol

  • Where the hell are the results of the testing? This was a shit review. Thanks again Motor Trend for obvious generalities and with no concrete data.

  • 3:00 service required hahaahahaa

  • @svxforlife that is just the tire pressure sensor..they replaced the wheels without putting back the sensors that's why it is showing..

  • EVO

  • you can still drive somewhat well on summer tires in the snow you just need to know how

  • evos r sweet in snow, gravel and tar, they have the sweetest control around corners unlike sti's they cant cominsate that, they seem to have alot of understeer in the corners n add time instead of minimizeing time like the evo, evo still holds the fastest track lap. lol.

  • subaru > mitsubishi

  • terrible review.

  • A less than informative video...even as car videos go. Something about snow tires being better than summers on ice and snow. Good point, right up there with not using crazy glue on your eyelids

  • Well, I own an STI. We all know the difference between both: AYC vs Symmetrical AWD. AYC is an active system vs a a more passive (only mechanical) system. It's true, it's easier to drive with an active system like AYC (on any type of surface), but it does not mean that the result makes a faster car. You have to work more with the STI. For me, the STI is bit more pure (less electronic) and the EVO more enjoyable. With some mods you can really get two really good sport cars. Cheers.

  • @rozzan007 and little details put aside, most would be just as happy with either one!

  • give me that evo X, i'll show how to challange

  • EatmyDust1311 you are dumb enough to watch top gear that is just you not "everyone" enough said.

  • lol the service light was on and as much as i wish the evo was broke (because i have a sti) i think its because the car wasn't running if you had ether one of the cars you would know that light comes on until you actually start the car, and this guy is retarted granted i dont kile the evo but im pretty sure mitsubishi knows what there doin set it to the right seeting damn chach

  • Buy American

  • @jessegitsmylife why watch a video about Subaru and Mitsubishi to post something so stupid? The title of this video clearly had nothing to do with american manufactured cars so that leads me to believe you actually like subaru or mitsubishi but cant admit it because your father would be to ashamed if u quit driveing that Ford of yours.

  • Michigan drivers suck ass... I live in OH and every time someone is fucking up the fast lane you can bet it's a fuckin Michigan driver. They don't know where the hell they are going and cut you off and all kinds of mindless shit. lol I take it with a grain of salt and think of them as elderly lmao

  • @ztwntyn8 Ha agree. Im in Ohio also but you have to watch for them PA drivers now they are horrible.

  • 1st of all if u guys werent so old u would actually be able to "try" the cars.. second of ass im pretty sure this video makes no senc where you say u wanted handleing but then said you wanted it to drift nicer. and third of all u are acting like these are evry day conditions that people drive in every day of their lives... summer tires on a caru usually means that u dont drive it everyday in snow.! dumb video waste of lifetime

  • @dimix333 you are an idiot. your "argument" would not make sense even if you could read it. the cars come with summer tires, how are they going to do if you live where it snows 4 months a year? you will need snow tires. seocnd, old drivers are better than you for many reasons, 1 they have driven just about every car out there and 2 they have more experiance. nobody bitches about the octogenarians hosting top gear. third, learn to spell on at least a 3rd grade level... its horrible

  • ?????? he said the EVO feels worse... put the dam car on the right setting... snow and im sure it will feel better because im pretty sure mitsubishi knows more then u about snow driving u said u like to drift it well then complain about control make up your mind

  • worst review ever. didnt make eather car look good. isnt that what a review is for?

  • Haha the Evo' cluster "Service Required" light was on.

  • @DanPrinMan cause tire pressure light was on...

  • and ...... nice camera work but this piece appears to have no ending ..... video ending that is, I'm sure the quoted article wraps it up.

  • BORING!! top gear needs to do a snow challenge for those two cars!

  • both cars are great, saying one is better than the other is an argument I never want to get involved in because it is pointless, both have close to 300hp, both weigh close to the same, both are AWD, both have similar suspension setups, what is the point of arguing, you can almost blindfold a person, get him into each car and he would have a hard time telling the difference, until he crashes into a tree from not being able to see...

  • @f575gtc Well said!

  • Well of course STi is going to be tighter, Subaru's cars are BUILT for those conditions. I have a 97' impreza and even though it's old and has 170K on it, it's super safe in the snow and the AWD system is keeps me VERY protected from slipping.

Of course if drifting is your thing, the evo looks like the better choice.

  • screw mitsubishi AWD its unbalanced! though i will admit that subaru is started to suck since 08:( which is a huge bummer.... fuckin americans ruin everything

  • screw mitsubishi AWD its unbalanced!

  • @EthansOpinion92 do you know anything about the evo? thats what it is all about. weight distribution.

  • @Kanes350bigbear subarus AWD has way more balance everything is centered, where in the eve the engine points to the side and the transmission is off center, creating torque steer

  • well i know that subaru has a patent on their all wheel drive system so that makes it impossible for mitubishi to be the same all wheel drive system. I find it funny how the mitubishi works better on snow with the gravel setting, and the guy said he like the mitubishi better because it flings around which means less control. i don't know why he likes less control.
