  • ES GENIAL

  • Interesting example of proto-rap. Stomps all over the modern variant,IMO

Also, isn't it funny how these cats were dressed sharp as hell but constantly got into rumbles. Did they not worry about getting their threads ripped in such unrestrained fisticuffs?

  • U can tell cats on YouTube don"t know what's up. That was the style back then the process hairdos . But u can feel the rawness in 1967. look at the things that was happening in the 60"s .Kennedy, Malcolm and Martin were assassinated John Coltrane died 1967 this is some classic shit!!!!!!!!

  • THE JUNGLE (1967, Dir: Charlie "Brown" Davis, David "Bat" Williams, Jimmy

    "Country" Robinson)

If THE JUNGLE looks different from other filmed depictions of gang life,

there is a reason: Every aspect of its creation, from the script to its

photography, editing and acting was manned by the young members of a real

Philadelphia street gang.... for more search:

The Secret Cinema repeats CITY OF BROTHERLY CRIME

program at Mt. Airy's Sedgwick Cultural Center

  • murda capi

  • lol the guy below it was ruff but try livin in a third world countyy or in kingston or south africa westen world dose not compare

  • I grew up in North Philly. Went to school at Cooke Jr. Hi and there was gang fights there all the time. It was a part of life. You had to be tough or you died. I made it out of the city because I stayed focused and survived many street fights. We were all street fighters in Philly. You can take the man out of Philly but you can't take Philly out of the man!

  • I've been all over the east coast, spent a couple months in Bushwick & Flatbush BK, passed through Camden NJ, am from outside D.C.

Philly is the roughest east coast city in my opinion. Like Detroit, it has big bombed out areas -- too big to police and too isolated/remote, so that people aren't crossing through a saner/safer world outside it enough.

  • lmfao @ the hair!!!

  • Philly stand up,papi from north.

  • This film was shown along with slide shows of dead teens on slabs in the 70's in schools around Philly to try to stop the gang volience at that time. In the early '70s, Philly led the nation in gang-related deaths at around 40 a year.

  • @robbyroc31 40 a year is nothing areas in los angeles have way more watts had about 40 a yer and it had a population of 30000 philly has 1500000if watts had the same population it would have 1500 a year

  • @elmoskater check your history not debating what your saying, but Philly gang violence ranked pass anything in L.A at the time and ranked up there with Chicago

  • @blackmale78 no your an idiot in watts the murder rates average was 112 per 100000 people and some times was higher then that it was higher then any were else in the country i am talking about the 90s not the 60s tho if ur talking about the 60s well i have no idea but i no that in the 90s places in la were worse then any were else in the country infact watts murder rate back then is close to what jaurez is today which is the worlds worst city of this decade

  • @elmoskater REALLY THO YOUR GONNA CALL ME AN IDIOT? IS IT THAT SERIOUS? When you just said your yourself that if im talkin about the 60S (in which I was cause thats when the video was made,) that you have no idea right? So only a dickhead would make a comment like that elmo.
