  • Claresholm almost got destroyed

  • We spread the ashes of my freind the day before and i couldn't help but think it was his spirit passing through his home city one last time.

  • right on my birthday!

  • This is wrong... Calgary should be covered with snow on top of the wind!

  • @TheMasterFailer lol dont worry, as soon as the wind stopped it started snowing, all is right XD

  • @falco912 Snow hit us like a pile of bricks, nothing out of ordinary here!

  • Exactly it was 140km/h! Everything happens in calgary!

  • @DragonGodOFAndy Is the what the weather station said because I would Have t conform it.

  • This is Calgary ??? @ :45 I see men in short sleeves, despite the howling winds the temp must be on the high side of freezing cause their is a wind chill factor and -1 could feel like -30 with winds of this velocity. I heard about this outrageous windstorm here in Vancouver and wonder what else came with it, rain or snow was it a warm chinook and just how much damage was reported. We had a windstorm a week prior and their were many power outages caused by downed trees & branches/nothing new!

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ I will add a footnote and that is we have never closed the downtown core off cause of a windstorm and we've had many wind gusts that COMPARE TO THOSE THAT HIT Calgary...but again no closures...Trees howevwer did their thing by closing off many major streets including the Stanley Park cause leading out of downtown Vancouver for those going over the Lions Gate Bridge to the northern verbs but no downtown closurs ever...it wouldn't werk here, too many people wouldn't adhere! sorry!!!

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ A little girl was killed by falling debris a couple years ago during a windstorm in Calgary. I assume that's why they decided to close the core this time around.

  • @FireItUp34 I Herd about that. !

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ We got word by the Alberta alert system... :)~

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ it was quite a nice day actually in the + side thats why

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ It was a chinook wind, Here is part of the story also it was 16*C there...

In Southern Alberta winds ripped through Calgary with winds recorded to being 91 km/h, Black Diamond had gusts of 122 km/h. Claresholm had a peak wind gust of 144 km/h. A 120 km/h wind gust is the equivalent of a Category One hurricane.

  • WoW! That does remind me of a hurricane because i live in yarmouth and i have been in something like that!

  • @luc49237 Yup it does!

  • Wow...This reminds me of one storm in 2005 where shingles were ripped off houses. And a lot of downed trees and power-lines. Power was out for 4 and a-half days...
