Danny has dealt with depression all his life which is why he's obese. On the road with a good friend he actually dropped to below 200ib, bcuz he was happy playing pool and dieting. Same trip where "the noob" won about 50large in philly. The twitch is bcuz he has neck problems. Danny is a great player and a great guy. I hope to see more of his matches soon. The alternating break format should be moved into the rule book though. Danny was unstoppable and really wanted the rematch with bryant.

Basavich makes some excellent shots, as does Duel, but Duel's technique looks cleaner to me. His strokes are smoother and more graceful, which helps with accuracy of shots, and his grip on his cue is very odd. Holding on the metal back piece of the stick is something I haven't seen anyone else do. But it works for him, so I guess that's cool. I wouldn't recommend anyone just learning try learning that way though...

Title-wise Deuel is a more proven player than Basavich. Compare their 2005 tournament winnings: Deuel, $87,482, and Basavich, $38,724 (AZBilliards).  I've heard Basavich was something else on the road, making off w/ like 500 long in 3 yrs (no taxes), but he's just not on par w/ guys like Deuel, when it comes to tournaments.

Don't forget Deuel is the only person ever to throw a shut-out in the finals of the US Open.

No, it's not you. It's a rule that should be changed. In any major league "sport" the opportunity to win is equal, each team or opponent has a chance. It's called competition for a reason. If you're on your game then you should be able to sustain through the entire competition. A sport that has one opponent sitting on the sidelines for long periods or even the entire match, is less of a sport.

@BClub If that were the case, then after a homerun in baseball, the teams inning would be over. The problem is with 9-ball, as it's too easy for the pros. 10-ball solves this by making it more difficult, in turn allowing both players more innings.

I met Danny for the first time on 2/6/08 on our live show @ thebackstopdotnet, and he's one hell of a guy. Fun to be around and has many interesting stories. I also found out when he first started playing, he was instructed by a guy I knew back in the early 60's and that guy - which I won't name was just a kid then about 9 or 10 years old and shot a great game then. SMALL WORLD!
