This week, TheWildGeese featured your excellent video as our Hell's Kitchen blog commemorates a red-letter date in black history as well as the history of the Irish, in recalling Cork-born Confederate general Patrick Ronayne Cleburne's 1864 proposal to enlist slaves in the Confederate Army and grant freedom to them and their families in return for their service. Rejected by the Confederate leadership, the proposal would have established a foothold for black equality in the Southern states.
