  • Yeah, cuz the average person carries around a FREAKING MASSIVE SWORD!!!!!!

    Luv yer vids though

  • I like to imagine that Lynn is the descendant of the guy who first created the sword.

  • 1:00 is that urine?

    :p

  • @LeadFarmer11 No. It's a liquid made from rendered down youtube trolls. It seems they are mostly yellow ;)

  • @csknives HAHAHAHAHA best comeback ever :)

I tip my Hat to your Witicism department

    keep up the good work

  • I've got one of these. Pretty good sword, very sturdy and hefty. Only thing that's bad about it, is that it's one pound heavier than the originals ( maybe try adding fluting to the blade ) and that fact that the pommel is not peened, which gives it some minor durability problems that most threaded swords have, what with the pommel unscrewing after some use.

I give it a 7.5/10. Sturdy enough, and reliable for a good time, although it'll require extra maintenance due to the threaded pommel.

  • cold steel is always makes high quality products

  • i'm so getting one :D

  • Out of curiosity, do you take custom orders? II'm very interested in this sword and the quality provided by Cold Steel, but I would like to have a few special personalized touches, particularly, in the pommel, and length

  • @omegaphoenix068 no, I'm sorry we don't do custom orders

  • @csknives Alright, thank you. Still, your products are just unbelievably awesome, and hopefully this sword will become the third Cold Steel item in my collection.

  • @omegaphoenix068 I think you'll love it. Thanks for choosing Cold Steel :)

  • @csknives Is it ok that Robert scares the crap out of me?

  • @JacksonIsGQ He scares the crap out of everyone. :)

  • Who ever does Lynn's laundry must hate it when he comes home drenched in orange soda.

  • I was wondering can this be compared to one of your katanas ... im split on the decision of which one to purchase , also what type of sword do you suggest is best to be carried in a back sheath ?

  • @8man117 that's really down to personal preference and fighting style. Western and Japanese swords are very different, but both awesome in their own way.

  • @8man117 I´d strongly recommend the european sword. in my opinion its superior to any katana. This sword looks beautiful though not unique ( manufactured ) - and thats rare

  • No bottles were harmed in the making of this film.

  • those lok like iron stuff from skyrim

  • 1. they swing entirly with sword and not in a cutting motion.

    2. complete lack of posture and correct stance

    3. no control over the sword whatsoever (every time they hit they follow the movement of the sword, the sword controls them - not the other way around)

  • @asdfglawl i know but what do you expect from and overwight american with bearly enough muscul to lift the whale blubber in his arms and who is out of breath after each swing of even the smallest blades

  • @Jack70903 That is Lynn Thompson, President of Cold Steel + designer of that sword. A lifelong martial artist who trains 3-4 hours a day, 6 days a week. He might not fit the beautiful image in your mind for a fighter but I assure you he can fight + he knows how to weild these swords. Judging by video views on your channel you are interested in weapons and hunting (just like Lynn), perhaps if you got past the childish comments you'd find you have a lot in common. Act like a man, not a troll

  • @csknives I know who he is im a great fan off the weapons (particulary the great sword, push blades and the double edged boot knife) seen a few hunting videos quick draw and good shot. i refuse to belive that he trains that often unless he eats lard the rest of the time and im sorry but the other coment was passed on all those other vids ive seen on you channel where he is out of breath. to be a good fighter you must hav atleast some level of cardio fitness and one of my pet-peevs is fat blokes.

  • @Jack70903 well one of my pet peeves is ignorant people who can't look past someones waistline. I work with Lynn every day and I assure you he does everything he says he does. Judging by appearances (your profile) I thought you might be an interesting and open minded hunter/weapons enthusiast and I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Your further comments prove otherwise. I guess we can both be wrong.

  • thumbs up if these guys have the coolest job erer! :)

  • @frankishwarrior85 i mean ever.

  • I keep hearing about problems with rattles in the hilt. But most of these reviews seem to be dated to 2008. Was/Is this still a problem?

  • @swordnerd108 there are no problems with this sword

  • I laugh every time they pose with it after they chop something.

  • 3:06 and onwards = No animals were harmed in the making of this video lol :L

  • You guys just have the best office BBQ's. Are you hiring? lol

  • it has been proven that a man with a blade is FAR more dangerous than a man with a gun if they are within a 20 foot radius

  • I WOULDN'T WANT MY FOOT. IN THAT BOOT.

  • That's a lot of bacon,

  • Will it pierce plate armour? Like late Middle Ages milanese armour? Could you make a video about it? And what form this blade's cross-section has?

  • @Tork789 I doubt this sword will, Their other products might, they were trying to make this too light, Hand and a half swords should be closer to five pounds, and you can see in the video it does glance off a few times, even with the power they are putting behind it.

  • @JohnsonWilJ

But according to Oakshott typology it should. And I believe Cold Steel makes authentic weapons, do they?

  • @Tork789 well, some of their stuff is as authentic as they can make it, but this, isn't made of the same stuff, specifically to be lighter, and some of their clubs are made of a high grade plastic rather than original materials, and this weapon shouldn't have a weighted pommel, because you don't want a balanced blade, you want all the weight coming down with the blow, not behind your hand, slowing the blow down.

  • @JohnsonWilJ it depnds on your fighting style, and the blade in question. for hacking and slashing, single edged weapons, your right, you do want more weight in the blade, it gives it more momentum. however, for thrusting and stabbing, you need point control, which comes from more of the weight being behind or in your hand. a balanced sword is more versitile than an end heavy sword, because it doesnt restrict your fighting style, you can slash, thrust and bash, what the hand and a half is for.

  • @Ki113r210 you make great points, but if i am going to have the biggest one handed sword i can handle, i would prefer to do more damage, more weight on my stroke, not impeding it for stability

  • @JohnsonWilJ you bring up stability. the thing you sacrifice with an end heavy blade is YOUR stability. say you miss your swing? with an end heavy blade, if you miss, your "recovery time" is alot longer, and you leave yourself VERY open. also, it means you must have space to swing wide and build momentum, meaning your screwed in an enclosed space. again, i cant stress enough that it depends on your fighting style and the combat situation.

  • @Ki113r210 very very true, but I wouldnt bring a massive sword to a corridor, thats just not wise :P

  • ya gonna save your live in a fight? some guy will just blow your brains out with a shotgun

  • @Mathaius833 So in your imaginary situation there is a shotgun involved? LOL Make up any scenario you like. Whatever

  • @csknives yeah well I havent seen many people walking around with swords on their side lately. A guy with a gun seems more likely than having your sword with you when you go out for a drink

  • @walatalalaw We have a guy in our office who wears a Cutlass every day. LOL Also remember that we are an international company, not everyone enjoys the same freedoms as us. We appreciate, enjoy and train with firearms too, but there's nothing wrong with having other skills to fall back on too is there? :)

  • @csknives which cutlass does he wear, and is it someone in the proof video?

  • @tallswede80 He wears the 1917 Cutlass, and yes it is one of the PROOF guys

  • @csknives have you ever made a zombie sword because z-day may happen soon

  • @stuntsandfuninc01 I think pretty much every product in our line up is perfect for the zombie apocalypse LOL

  • @csknives lol true, which weapon would you suggest as an all around well zombie weapon

  • @stuntsandfuninc01 depends on the person weilding it. I'd suggest a War Hammer, a Gunstock War Club or Indian War Club. All epic zombie slayers :)

  • @csknives okay thank you for taking the time with reading responding to my comments

  • @stuntsandfuninc01 my pleasure. Have a great day :)

  • poor pig :-(

  • Good present for zombie survivalist

  • So what kind if fights nowadays requires a sword in one had and a dagger know in the other? Wouldn't it be easier to carry a revolver in each hand?

  • @mybabeCL Swords are so much better, man. Revolvers are way too loud.

  • The more I watch, the more I realised that armor are useless.

  • @MrRemicas agreed

  • >Intruder in your house carrying a pistol or two

    >Ready your sword, send them running

  • The bastard sword. Such a beautiful yet deadly weapon.

  • Because this is lighter wouldn't this mean it's less powerful that if i was a bit heavier?

  • @ThePowerBanana45 you don't want a sword that size much over 3lbs, at least not in the days when such a sword was used in combat, it would be too tiring to wield, causing one to slow and maybe get killed. The trick was to get a light, strong, sharp sword and that was hard to do......

They DID use swords of this design for official ceremonies, they were called "bearing swords" and weighed about 15 pounds, but were NOT meant for combat.

  • (0:23) thats what she said

  • 0:47_0:50 holy shit man that head got some talent never knew that woodn heads can do a backflip

  • Gg pig.

  • how do i apply?

  • this with a mere 24 inch blade would be perfect for Z day.

  • this sword is so amazing i want it

  • NO, NOT THOSE BEAUTIFUL BOOTS!!! D:

  • Ok fuck u, what the hell is with the personal attacks, all I said was that the main job of chain mail was too stop slashing and cutting attacks. So come off it AND PISS OFF U FUCKING WANKY GIT!!! there how's that for bad grammar and bad spelling. And my spelling couldn't have been that bad since u clearly understood what I was saying in the first place. O AND I AM FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY. JUST LOOK AT MY DAMN NAME!!!!

  • DIE PIG, DIE!

  • AAAAAAHHHUGGGGHHH I FUCKING HATE THICK ASS ROPE!!!

  • did anyone else burst out laughing at 1:02?

  • I...want...that...so...fucking....badly...

  • forget the sword, i want those safety glasses

  • Mens warehouse must love this guy

  • I'[m a vegetarian, and I'm apalled by this video.

Just kidding, I'm placing my order for both the sword and dagger and heading over to famous Dave's for some ribs and brisket. Also, I know where the building is where the fat guy in the blue shirt was cutting water jugs by the 101 freeway. I miss Ventura, especially the harbor and downtown areas.

  • @Dave839 the beggining of your comment made me lol Im ordering this sword soon too. I hope its a good one.

  • This makes me hungry.

  • @TheKuroijin you too?

i thought it was just me.

  • it's like FPS Russia but with swords ^_^

  • @TheWaaaagh imagine what a professional russian could do with this O_o

  • how sharp is the dagger?

  • and they use pigs mainley because that pigs are the closest thing to human fleash there is.

  • X31mx31m, they don't waste the pigs or any of the meat that is used in there videos. After they r done shooting there videos they package the meat and donate it to feed the homeless.

  • ok fuck all of u assholes that r being inmature jurks. i love cold steel, i have been a loyal and devoted coustmer of theres for years now, and there spartan is my everyday carry knife, but there is one thing that i dont like about alot of demo videos. that is that use chainmail shirts to show the "percing power" or there blades when and anyone that knows anything about mail. knows that mail is not designd or made to stop percing attacks it is made to stop cutting and slashing attacks.

  • @scottsmanv true on chainmail, but it is/was considered a propper test of a dagger and sword's abilities.

  • @scottsmanv Wait, what? Your English is so atrocious you might as well be speaking a different language. First, chain mail itself damn near unbeatable when it comes to armor. It rained supreme for 1600 years until the Type XV sword was developed sometime around 1300CE; and that sword was only capable of overcoming mail because its point was so narrow it could fit into the gaps in the armor. Here's proof: watch?v=YbJ6_KoXvqM Notice how none of the rings broke at all? Cold Steel's fooling everyone

  • @scottsmanv With their chain mail test. They're probably doing the same thing every other "expert" is doing any using butted mail, where the rings aren't even joined, so it's ridiculously easy to break it. Riveted mail was such an impenetrable armor that the only way to kill the guy wearing it was either have a sword with a point so narrow it could slip through the rings, distract him so someone else could lift his chain shirt and stab him, or bludgeon him to death (it alone does nothing against

  • @scottsmanv Blunt force trauma, which all swords impart to some degree). Why do you think soldiers who could afford it often wore several layers of padding beneath it? To soften the blow; with enough padding under your mail, chances are, you may not even break a rib, and you can't be beaten with a thrust unless someone comes at you with a sword specifically designed for slipping through the gaps in armor, which was kind of the point to them, pun intended. Don't get me wrong, though; I like Cold

  • @scottsmanv Steel's knives, but I cannot stand the misinformation they spread (and encourage to spread) with tests like that. It's deceitful to imply that any blade is capable of penetrating armor when it's not.

  • 3:37 DECAPITATIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

  • i wonder how many people have bought those things for everyday self defense :D ull go to a corner 7/11 at night with those things and ull get shot by the clerk

  • so help me god if i need a sword that can cut through rope and a dagger that cut through meat when i farm my dead pigs

  • nice for clearing out the front of the bus. All meat sent to Idi Amen.

  • i'm more likely to get that than i am to get a gun. I don;t like the sarcastic jokes ppl make here. lol

  • When the evil pigs take over, you know who they won't mess with.

  • Oh dear god...The big guy with the black shirt pants and the tie reminds me of Vernon Dursley ((Harry Potters Uncle))

  • I need a zombie and this sword!

The fun I shall have! :)

  • @Hyperspacewizard why only one ?

  • and sword vs. sword?

  • I would prefer in their videos if they gave you hard numbers about length, taper, distil, point of balance, handle length.

  • @Lukos0036 i agree, its about the only thing lacking in these vids.

  • GEORGE LUCAS!!!

  • 1:22 LOOK at HIM!!!!!!!!!! hes cultEEEE~~~~

  • I understand they hafts sell, but it's funny how they advertise like the buyers will be in fights

  • Nice! Now they only need to make a shield for it, then they're ready to smite evil!

  • they waste so many pigs :D

  • i like how he says these things will save your life in a fight. they're more likely to end your life because using this on someone anywhere in the continental U.S will probably earn you 5 to 25. depending on the situation and damage done

  • Do you think that the boss ever dares to fire anyone?

  • @hilyrzhi Do you think the employees ever dare to ask for a raise?

  • vegetarians beware!

  • they expect apocalypse to be a personal one

  • I wonder what their monthly rope budget is...

  • "I wouldnt want my foot in that boot" lol, no shit sherlock

  • haha the commercial is absurd but you have to admit that's a pretty damn good sword

  • Anyone else think that they waste too many pigs?

  • @alehax27 All the meat is donated to a homeless shelter. I wish I was joking

  • what is the use of this....

  • how fucking awesome would this be if this was your job? Ya i fuck shit up with a god damn sword for a living, what do you do?

  • @GrungeRockGod I am a arms dealer

  • @GrungeRockGod i would wear short shorts

  • 1:01 Nooo! my bottle of urine!!!

  • nice tit sweat there

  • i think, next to the gunny on lock and load, these guys have the best job in the world.. haha

  • I love how he says it will save your life in a fight

Because who the hell is walking around town with a giant sword and dagger on them? And even if you were, who would attack you, first off there are no marauding pirates or Vikings or something just wandering around the streets ready to attack you anymore, and two, even if you were attacked by a modern person, if he saw you carrying a big sword around, he wouldn't fuck with you

If your getting attacked by pigs though, you know your safe

  • 1:00 that BETTER NOT have been Moutain Dew...if it was...Imma kill these guys...

  • I like the guy who looks a bit like George Lucas , hes pro :D

  • 3.06 " we've got a twenty pound beef brisket here and if it fuck's with me i'm gonna eat it."

  • 2.00, Watch out! if you fuck with the fat guy he'll cut your fucking toes off!

  • Slicing up meat for charity with an awesome sword.

    Best. Job. Ever.

  • @mlwwlm YES

  • "i wouldn't want my foot in that boot"

    wise words

  • This bastard sword is pretty good but the handle sucks

  • Why did they slash a jug of urine?

  • @inkbot2000 To piss off Bear Grylls.

(See what I did there? :D)

  • When bullets no longer work... This will be my weapon of choice. Absolutely love a hand-and-a-half blade. For WMMA-probably the best all around bladed weapon of the European Middle Ages. Nice blade the demonstrate here.

  • Your right, it could save your life in a fight but when the hell would you be carrying a sword on hand?!?!

  • Haha the man slicing the pig seems to be having fun doing so xD

  • There's just one thing I still don't get... I know having a sword is fun, and can be part of a cosplay/costume/etc, I'm planning on buying the practice one, for ehmm, well practicing?...

But where would you use a real one? I mean, those are killing weapons... >__>

  • @MirroRMimi Depends i'm collecting these and they could easily kill someone....though the chances of me using this to kill say an intruder are slim....i could just shoot him

  • @TriggerHappyChicken

I thought the same thing. In the Great Sword vid the guy said you could defend your home... or something like that, but having a gun is so much more practical xD

  • these guys have the best job ever

  • stabbing butted chainmail meas NOTHING butted chainmail is in historicaly accurate and wont stop a good slash let alone a lunge, they should try rivverted or welded then id be impressed!

  • Did cold steel fix the issue with the pommel because it looks different?

  • @Zkor12

he cut through a pigs spine and ribs. the skull of a pig is VERY thick it's amazing that he got through half of it

  • your only showing meat without bones a bone is all most stronger than stone so try to left the bones in the body you saw by the pork head it didnt penetrated that goed cause he had a skull

  • This sword looks nice, but I'd steer away. The pommel is wobbly and tends to fall off...Though the edge is supreme, there's little else to it. Needs improvements.

  • Sick S.O.B.'s! Awesome!

  • Sick S.O.B.'s!

  • i like how they don't try the pullup demo with Japanese weapons. Autobreak

  • im just gonna say it, stabbing chainmail proves nothing, it is meant for anti-slashing

  • @damonlied It's meant to stop everything and it can. The chainmail that was used in this test is butted cheap reproduction, greatly inferior to authentic suits.

  • @Ranziel1 oh, im not denying that it was a good test, i have seen some blades that were dented and almost destroyed by doing the same thing, but generally speaking, chainmail is meant to prevent slashing, not stabbing, the rings bend out of the way far to easy to prevent slashing, something like a dragonback weave, Persian dragonscale, or even a gracelock would hold up much better then a standard europian 4-in-1 like what they were using

  • @damonlied You've been using the wrong mail then mate. What you see tested on TV is butted mail, which is made for reenactment not actual combat. Real battle ready mail uses riveted and solid rings. Riveted mail will not come apart even when hit by an axe. An axe is able to break the bones beneath the mail, not pierce it.

To pierce it you need very substantial blow, like a lance from a charging knight on horseback, a heavy crossbow, or a powerful English longbow.

  • I really need this word, to stab holes in the hood of the car that hits me and cut off the drivers toes.....

  • If it can go through a hood, it can go through plate armor

  • CUT THAT PIG

  • damnit im so gonna buy that sometimes!

  • what comes into cold steel.. does not come out

  • cool sword

  • 1:00 is that piss?!?!?!!!?!?

  • @MrDragonator simulates a person blatter being cut ;P

  • YO THUMBS UP IF U DONT GET THE POINT TO THIS NEITHER

  • What a waste of ham....makes me hungry...
