It is truly a great song, fresh, melodic, catchy, and inspirational, but I always hate when Christian artists have to have their puss front and center on these promo pictures/CD covers like they are heartthrobs or heartthrob wannabees. It presents a mixed message of what they are selling. It is a fine line to walk.

It's a metaphor for a shepherd. God will leave the 99 sheep that he has (these represent the saved people he has) in order to "find" or "save" the one lost person that is out there. He would leave all of the 99 saved souls to find the one lost to have all of his sheep together and safe.

Firstly you need a "wahwah" and distortion pedal, then finger pick two strings at the same time (dont know the chords, try a "D", first and third fingers) While finger picking, stop the sound with your chord hand and slowly move the wahwah forward and back.

In the Bible there is a story of a sheep herder that had 100 sheep and on eof them kept running away and the Sheep herder would always go and look for his lost sheep to bring him back... The Sheep herder is our savior (GOD) and the sheep are us (his children)... GOD will always bring back his lost sheep. The story is more invoved but I am out of writing space... hope this helps.

this song is referring to Matthew 18:12 in the new testament. It's when Jesus offers the parable of the lost sheep, and the shephard. The shephard has 100 sheep and one wanders off. he would leave the 99 to out and find the one, and when found, be happier that one sheep was saved even though he left the others unwatched. its the same as the way God looks after us even when we are totally lost.
