  • What a hero among heroes from action long ago in the jungles that we never saw before. From terror and constant fear that we had to live with or couldn't survive. Then the " Who gives a flying fxxk what happens, and when the xhit hits the fan, you go for what you know, hatred and rage takes over, runs through your mind and body. You want to kill every gook, Charlie, VC, or NVA. They all count when you see one of your own KIA. Never forget!

  • Chuck Norris who? I am proud to have served in Iraq as a hispanic knowing someone like him did it first. R.I.P. God bless this Real Hero.

  • 13 years after the fact? He fought for his country, then he had to fight for his benefits?

Great Soldier, Great American, Great Human being.

Thanks to all the men and women who have served and are till serving.

  • I'm proud to have met him a few times at Audie Murphy Hospital in San Antonio. May he Rest in Peace.

  • My father, brother and I went to his funeral. My father was a really good friend of Mr. Benavides. I met him several times, but I was too young to remember, so I never got a chance to know him. But the way my father talks about him, I know he was one hell of a man.

  • I'm ashamed that i just now heard of another great Hero and stories like these all too often are unheard. I am proud to be an American. RIP MSgt. Benavidez.

  • Another amazing story. God bless all these men and women. I would like to personaly thank them all. Thank you.

  • I was a Huey slick pilot on this mission. Keep in mind, Roy was NOT assigned to this mission. He was at Loc Ninh monitoring the radio and heard the team was in deep danger. A slick on the mission returned to Loc Ninh to offload wounded crewmembers, refuel, and get ammo and med supplies for the team, planning on a high-speed, treetop-level drop since the LZ was so hot. Roy jumped aboard and begged the pilot, WO Larry McKibben, to get him into the LZ. He begged to be dropped into the inferno.

  • @gryhnd25 Thank you for your service!

  • If You have access to old Readers Digest Paper Back's they wrote about him its Title was a Medal for Roy. Please Find it and read It. You will find out he had just got back to Viet Nam and had no assignment. but Took the Place of a Wounded Door gunner to help with the rescue. Truly Amazing

  • HOOAH!

  • My brother Dave was KIA Quang gi Province June 2nd,1970.I was there in 71 & 72. I look back and think...why?The North Vietnamese never threatened our freedom.MacNamera admitted the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a lie.58,000 American soldiers DIED because the politicians lied.WMD's ?? Can anybody see the never ending pattern here? The only ones I see threatning our freedom is Congress.Their dismanteling the Constitution.

  • I met MSG Benavidez when I was going through AIT at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo in 1990. He stuck me as a man that had pride in himself and pride in his country.

  • ROY P. BENAVIDEZ

AK-47S, GRENADES, MULTIPLE SHRAPNEL WOUNDS TO HIS BACK, INJURIES TO HIS HEAD AND LEGS, AND SAVING THE LIVES OF 8 MEN DID NOT FUCKING STOP HIM.

  • Because of men like Roy P. Benavidez we are able to enjoy our freedom and liberty. It does not matter the race of a hero we should all be grateful for their heroism. I am so proud to know family members of this brave man. I wish I would have thanked him before his passing. I have told this story to my son and he is so proud of Sgt Benavides. May his soul rest in peace.

  • @2011artista And where are they now? We are losing are Freedoms, what do we do now?

  • It disgusts me absolutely disgusts me that this only has 1500 views. Our country is fucking pathetic. There isnt many of us left. Us as in people who would take the time to watch this video. Were a dieing breed and this is a pathetic country. But be proud of what it used to be! and what it is meant to stand for! But boys, sorry but were outnumbered BIG TIME.

  • I have his autograph :)

  • @zodiusracemosis really dude tell me about it i would had loved to meet him.

  • Does anyone not believe this is one of the greatest acts of bravery ever told? Roy Benavidez would say he was just dong his job. He was in an impossible situation and somehow prevailed. A true hero that we are honored to have in our history. Thank You so much Roy and we will never forget.

  • Instead of hearing acts of bravery like this, we always hear about some Hollywood idiots getting divorced or some other crap like Chalie Sheen. If you want to see another neat story type Frank Buckles 106 years old the last World War I veteran

  • HOLY MOLY :(

  • No matter how many times I hear this I am filled with pride. US Army Infantry FOLLOW ME!
