Nice work, but the HTC Touch Pro phone is still just running a 528 MHz Qualcomm 7501A processor. Sorry, but that's not responsive enough, even with the snappier Android replacing the piss-poor WinMo 6.1

I need something like HTC Touch Prom only with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside.

No, its not usual. Something is most likely wrong with your setup (wrong startup.txt for instance).

Yes and now. Data, txts, apps and "things like that" work fine for the most part. But its far from 100%. GPS for instance..

Regardless of who made it, Android is in my opinion vastly superior to Windows Mobile in almost every aspect. Windows Mobile 6.5 is basically the same as Windows PocketPC 2002. It need a total overhaul and hopefully WinMo 7 will deliver. However, until then, Android suits me perfectly, along with Maemo :)

Android does indeed run buttery smooth on certain HTC devices running Windows Mobile. The Vogue is the most successful one which has its own Android ROM now. The GSM versions of the Touch Pro and Diamond is also coming along nicely with the HTC Kaiser also running it fine.

Maemo 5 is on my N900 and its a great Linux experience. Its basically Debian with a touch friendly interface on top. Love it.

Is it possible to remove WinMo entirely and just boot directly to Android when you turn the phone on each time (i.e., have Android as the only operating system installed on the phone)? CDMA (Sprint/Verizon/Telus) phones will not have service... only GSM can right now... also, you need to know wat model of raphael (touch pro/fuze) you have (RAPH800 or RAPH100, to find out hold volume-down and power together while pressing reset, it will go to a multicolor screen and say RAPH800 or RAPH100 somewere)

Android is being booted directly from a Linux environment. When running Haret, Windows Mobile is shut down, so you could say that Android is being booted directly, yeah!

Little question, might be dumb, but I don't know much about cellphone, and hmm, I really like Android, but there's no phone with android over here in Canada. So I'm considering buying this phone and maybe later on, get Android on it.

Just wonder if the version right now allows you to call, instant message, txt, sync contacts and all the things a normal Android phone can do? Is it completly attached to all the Touch Pro hardware?

Our plan is to make Android 100% functional on the Touch Pro before we consider making any sort of Android ROM for it. When this will happen is impossible to tell, as we need to make it functional first

That said, the current solution (booting up from within WinMo) doesnt cause any lag because Windows Mobile is shut down before Android boots ;)

The app store works perfectly fine on the Dev phone (ADP1)! Its just that paid apps arent available in all regions, so users who have the G1, ADP1 or any other Android powered phone wont be getting paid apps untill its available in their region!

You have to disable the PIN-Code security in Windows Mobile before booting up Android! Good luck!
