of course they are compliant, this is training, perhaps you would like to try and hold the master on the way to the grocery with his kids to see if he will escape your hold? jeeeeez
I'm not gonna disrespect, but where are the real fighting or sparring against other arts, not to see who is better, but to see if it would work against a non compliant student, that's all - too muchrespect for the master makes the techniques turn into childsplay.
this is MA trained most by army and half of moves are in the criminal justice system murder-attempts.also,soldier won't go in fight if tendency isn't killing

I am curious too. When the partner is working with the other to share the technique its hard to know its reality with someone who doesnt work with them. ie fight back creatively without being in awe of the instructor.
yea they all seem to be just going with what the instructor does.....but i guess if u did it fast n strong in real life ur opponent wouldnt know wtf is going on
sparring in a dojo is not a real fight, and would give false impression of the techniques use. Working slowly with "compliant" practitioners allows for the brain and body to learn correct movements. Fast usage of the technique comes with consistent practice. For those looking to be impressed, should watch martial art movies. Real fighting situations do not look at all impressive.
layin,, if you are looking for a good self defense martial art,, i highly reccomend aikido ,, and specifically ,, tomeki style- which has been modernised to take into account our current laws and potential dangers. its a non violent, non aggressive effective defense against almost anything =)
Systema is no way similar to Defendo, the students in systema are tooooo compliant and wobbly, they don't make the person work, what is there to admire when the students comply so much a 10yr old would like magic if the students were so compliant and fell over their own shadows, this would work against a real live criminal, Hmmmmm don't think so!!!
Harder is not better. These are demos. The system also has an incredible striking arsenal. What you see is not what you get. Under these controled demos a 10yo could make it work, but it takes years to achieve this level. Not tryin to diss you, but this is a normal reaction to these demos. Defendo also good
this guy is Vladimir Vasiliev a master in Russian Martial Art, ancient art of Cosacks. He was a soldier of red army. This is the combat system used by russian special forces.
i could try it and i found it near to aikido principles,
all based on breathing and on to keep out of balance the opponent.
"Uke" is a word that means "receiver". In real martial arts, that's a generic term that's used to describe the person who is "receiving" the action. Nowhere is it stated or implied that it is Japanese, hopefully, they would never invent something that goofy. Now take your projection somewhere else and run along.
what projection? i know what uke and nage means. Martial arts did not only develop in Japan, no it is not generic term in martial arts. The Russians, the Israelis, the Filipinos etc. does not have a word "uke" in their vocabulary.
@RyanS2 uhm, systema was one of the first martial arts.. and kalarippayattu is supposedly the oldest, and that's from india. it's over 1000 years old. karate + were created way after.
There is a similar system used in the US called DEFENDO. And while they are cooperating,(that's why it's called a demo.) this stuff definately works. The terms "Uke" and "Nage" are Japanese and only found in Japanese systems. You are 100% correct.
Ah, hitting on all those vital spots that are not allowed in fighting sports :)
