  • saw Wanda at the Montreal jazz festival in july of 2011. she was awesome. brought down the house. she is still great. Doing some stuff with Jack white I think. go see her. definitely worthwhile.

  • if only wanda tried perform it wildly, she must be a legend now...

  • It's Wanda who showed me rock n roll first...

  • Hey, just wanted to let all know that this song was listed by the Toronto Sun newspaper on Dec. 31, 2011, as one of the top choices of songs to keep your party going on new years eve , so wanda is far from being irrelevant, or fogotten. I didn't even have any input into it. Just wow, there it is, the main music critic says that yeh, listen to this, so happy new year, and I am listening to it right now, thanx

  • brilliant! <3 you wanda!

  • I do believe that's Glen Cambell playing air guitar.

  • thats exactly what i,m saying mate i personally dont care what rca was marketing in that era no one rocked like wanda , if you havent already check out imelda may she is a modern day wanda in my humble opinion ( i had the fortune too see both live )

  • @john1948thirteena , guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that my friend

  • @truimphsrule It's not a matter of opinion that Janis Martin was the female Elvis. If you're trying to say That Wanda was the best female rockabilly singer contemporary with Elvis, I wouldn't argue against that opinion. Janis Martin was marketed as the Female Elvis by RCA with the approval of Elvis Presley. Wanda Jackson was great and had a longer more successful career.

  • An all time great recording, super to hear again

  • is that glen campbell playing an electric guitar break on a 12 string acoustic?

  • Check out my rockabilly band's version of this song! /watch?v=4L8Vj1bxYnc

  • the female elvis , saw her live about 94 got her to sign a 5 pound note and still have it , long live rock n roll

  • @truimphsrule Janis Martin was the female Elvis. Wanda was great though!

  • einfach nur geil

  • Seems like she would have been a good match for Elvis.

  • She's the original talent

  • I had to remove another positive comment due to use of profane language. Sure you disguised it but if I can understand what you mean so can everyone else. This channel is for everyone - including kids - and I won't let them see profanity here.

  • I used to listen to this exact version at my nannas house 25 yrs ago when i was 7/8, she had it on 12" vinyl and still does! only just found out who sings it now!! class

  • thanks for the upload

  • Wooo! Lets party!

    I love this song!!

  • even Elvis couldn't surpass her with his cover! that says it all!

  • from Wikipedia;

    "1960–1964: The Queen of Rockabilly

In 1960, Jackson had a Top 40 pop hit with "Let's Have a Party", a song Presley had cut a year earlier."

  • So great!!

  • Glenn Campbell on Lead Guitar

  • Elle me détruit

  • I heard her last week and her voice still pretty much sounds the same. She is great.

  • Sounds a hell of a lot like Jailhouse Rock. Whats up with that.

  • @spentfromnz I don't know what's up. I do know that it was written by Jessie Mae Robinson in 1957 and recorded by Elvis Presley for the movie "Loving You". A version of this song was recorded by Wanda Jackson in 1960. Jailhouse Rock was also written in 1957 for Elvis. If they are too much alike I guess that goes back to Elvis.

  • @John1948ThirteenA Elvis supposedly had a thing for Wanda so who knows..LOL

  • @John1948ThirteenA

That's because it's both Rock n Roll and you have this Main Rock n Roll riff in it that you will find in a lot of songs all over the world and time ;)

  • @spentfromnz it's what peope call a genre, many rock n' roll songs sound alike, just as pop or rock songs do nowadays. It's not like she ripped it off.

  • @spentfromnz Even Blue Suede Shoes fits that mold. Songs of a particular genre (and period) do tend to sound similar.

  • First heard this in around 1957 and loved Wanda ever since

  • @bubblesron She is just great.

  • Never seen a twelve string lead before.

  • I heard this song since my youth, I always thought that she is a little wild black girl, I'm amazed.

  • Comment removed

  • It was called Rockabilly before it called Rock 'N' Roll.

  • I didn't not know this was Wanda Jackson. The cool thing about it is that she is from Oklahoma.

  • A great rockabilly voice!

  • Haha I love Glen Campbell pretending to play the solo on his acoustic 12 string. Well done!

  • that growl =]

  • hey, is that glen campbell on guitar? i do believe it is!

  • I am just getting introduced to many of Wanda Jackson's songs, I knew a few, but she rocked out full time, didn't she? I love you Wanda.

  • I wish she was standing up and groovin and shakin'!...instead of sitting down and being rather lazy. I like her alot though!

  • That's from Star Route, late 1964.

    A syndicated show....a great clip..

I like when Wanda says "why not?" just before the gutiar solo...

her timing and style can't be better!!

  • les femme était vraiment ronde

  • i would of thought this was done in the late fifties...

    but the kids are """twisting"""

    ....sooo when was this done?

  • Man I love this woman !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im so proud of her

  • THE QUEEN OF ROCKABILLY. Wanda i love you baby!

  • Glen Campbell on guitar!

  • I dig it but she changed the words. I'd have rather watched her shake a chicken in the middle of the room than do a twist.

  • @62624a62 The record she sings the Elvis lyrics, but on this vid she changed the words a little

  • MAN OH MAN...never saw this one...thanks

  • Saw Wanda in Brooklyn a few weeks ago, this was her closing song!...

  • young glen campbell playing guitar behind her (at least acting like it), glen was all over the L.A. studio scene til he became huge in the late 60s.

  • ist über geil das lied *-*

  • She and Brenda Lee changed the image of women in rock. They proved that women can rock too!

  • @FaerieCrone Yes, Brenda Lee and Wanda Jackson are the first female rockers!

  • Love her tough raspy but still girlie voice!

  • Woo, I've been in love with this song for many years. Since the first time I ever saw Dead poets society :)
