  • I was wondering how these pirate stations avoided frying themselves, putting out at least 20KW and sitting very close to it. Does anybody know?

  • Picture of Bob Snyder there at 9:27. He went to UBN and then to Piccadilly and Trent followed by Beacon. In 1980 he emigrated to Canada working at CKLG and then to northern British Columbia to do the breakfast show on CJDC. Bob had always written topical comedy material for use in his shows and set up Toms Lake Humour Company. It is a “show prep” service, supplying a daily email of topical one-liners to more than one thousand radio personalities across the US, Canada and the UK.

  • Pirate radio these days doesn't have the same kind of loyal listeners that it did back in the day...

    so sad

  • Very nice memories of Radio 270. I never forget the offshore radio period and Saville Paul.

I can well remember seeing the mast go up on the boat in St Sampsons harbour. One of my neighbours went on as crew but his cabin was the chain locker so he had no cabin until it anchored. Happy days..
